hi all!

i've opened this thread, because i feel an urge to do some drawing (or something
creative in general), but it doesn't work out.

one reason for this might be a lack of time (which i have to accept), and another
reason is, that my imaginative machinery appears to be blocked (which makes
me upset).

so i got curious about your techniques of inspiration. how do you approach your
works? do you develop them spontanously? do you write down specific ideas from
time to time in order to get back to them if you feel like doing new stuff? do
you "stimulate" (eg. by meditation or stuff :D ) your brain to boost creativity?

i guess each of you has his/her special technique to seek for inspiration and
enhance creativity, so please feel free to post about this...

I only draw when I get a sudden urge to draw, and even then if I have drawn something I dont like it ends up in the bin, then I try again till I get something I like or till the urge has gone. Many things end up in the bin with me.

I get inspired by emotions and dreams.

Whatever I'm feeling, I do my best to put it to paper in some form or another.

Luckily, I'm a really emotional person. It's my talent that sometimes leaves me LOL.

I can't exactly tell you what inspiration is to me, but sadly I can tell you what the lack thereof feels like: its terrible. For the last year I've had 0 inspiration, except for my book which i'm planning to finally write down during the summer.

Two years ago I was overflowing with inspiration. I'd get an idea out of nowhere seemingly (sometimes triggered by music or a movie) and I'd create it. But as time went by I started getting ideas, inspiration, but I wouldn't be able to create them either because my skills were too low or I didn't have the equiptment. This state continued until last year I simply lost all inspiration. I'd fire up a 3d modelling-program and stare at the screen for a few minutes before closing it down again. Its quite annoying.

i know exactly what you mean, stroggy! i'm encountering a very bleak phase, too
as far as my muse is considered.

basically, i do it similar to tai...i try to express emotions or mental pictures (such
as dreams) but somehow these things don't find a way from my soul to my hand
which's holding the pen or playing the keys of my synths....

actually, inspiration is present, but not enough creativity to express these things..
or perhaps it's only a lack of motivation? i can't tell for sure.

but it's terrible, i do agree with you stroggy!

Well my moto for creating anything is:

Boredom is the enemy that inspires.

So just keep doing it wrong, until it all falls in the place. You'll be the judge of that. You can't force your self to be creative and good at it, but if you practice long enough, you'll be able to produce quality and quantity - but it will just be a copy of your previous work. Only once every now and again you'll be able to do something new, different, that will let you know you've reached the new level of expression. Hang in there :ok:

Thats the kind of defeatist attitude that hasn't gotten me anywhere
