I've just got Starcraft (and Broodwar), and I have a problem. After finishing mission 1 for Terrans (not the tutorial, and it's in the normal Starcraft -not BW), I see the stats, click OK and then Windows makes that sound like when an error appears on screen and the game stops responding. The problem is that I do not know what error it is. I cannot ALT-Tab out of the game, and can only press the Windows key to get to the Start menu and close the game with Windows Task Manager. I did a search on this forums and on Google, but got nothing regarding this problem. I also tried disabling various acceleration settings in DirectX, but that didn't solve it. Could anyone help me? Thanks!

you are using the official cds I suppose.
You should ask blizzard for help.

Well, I think I have found something on their support site, but I really would have not liked to reinstall both games and redownload the 1.14 patch. Oh, well, I'll try. Wish me luck. If I won't manage, I'll post here. Thanks Data!

else drop your savegame in here.
and I'll start the 2nd mission and save for you.
although I haven't installed the 1.14 patch

Nope, reinstalling and applying the latest patch did nothing, and CDCheck says that both CDs are okay. Here is my character. Thanks Data! :)

umm... i had no problems like that with starcraft (cracked or uncracked) maybe gfx card drivers? or a really silly suggestion - video codecs?

Abi79 03-12-2006 02:34 PM

It's not video codecs. I can see the intro and all of the other movies. And I don't think it's the GFX card drivers either. If those were the problem, then the game should not have worked, but it does and I can start any map I want and any mission I want, except for that one.

Tried looking around here?

I played BW a few months ago and it worked.

Hmm, how much system memory do you have on your PC, Abi79?

Abi79 03-12-2006 05:08 PM

@Duss T.: Yes, but nothing helped me. :(
@Saphire: Say what? Oh, you mean RAM? 448MB.
