new platforms added to MobyGames
While most of Abandonians are primarily PC gamers, some used to have older/rare systems, others (like me!) are simply interested in game development history.
Starting this month MobyGames accepts entries for Oric-1, Sharp X68000, Playdia, Super A'can, GP32 and Supervision, after adding these platforms to its database. During only the first day already about 70 entries appeared on site. As you might have guessed most of these are ports, but exclusive releases will follow - for example I couldn't resist to add "Attack on the Death Star" all by myself :perv: |
Obscure hardware for the win! I still couldn't forgive mom she dumped my hardware collection - I had a C64 and a chinese Pong clone in it with other weird stuff (a SNES, and two chinese Famicom clones)... Oh the memories.

Oh. I lost extensive collection of unique ZX-Spectrum games and stuff on cassettes and diskettes such way. Of course, western part is common, but eastern, like Polish games/hacks/tools and big Russian scene much rarer seen on Internet.

Good news, more platforms were just added yesterday:
Acorn Archimedes, Commodore 16, Commodore Plus/4, ZX80, ZX81, Nuon, SG-1000. At the moment I'm writing this, about 50 game releases were added for these old/rare systems, and many more will show up in the coming days. |
Does this mean MobyGames will be expanded monthly? Because 6 new platforms have just been added, including old rare consoles:
Sharp X1, Amstrad GX4000, Casio Loopy, Casio PV-1000, GP2X, GP2X Wiz I've submitted a dozen games in the first hour :D |

I recall a passing mention of SAM in my first gaming magazines, some 20 years ago... |
More ancient platforms added yesterday: Acorn Atom, Sinclair QL, Philips Videopac+ G7400 (successor to Odyssey2).
Looks like we're in need of a Thomson expert, there are compatibility issues between the various models (TO7, MO5 and later), and this needs to be explained in order to organize the database. There was a slip-up with Amstrad GX4000, which was already covered in Amstrad CPC (all cartridge games are also GX4000 compatible). |
