-   -   Why Is Windows Xp Service Pack 2 Better? (http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=12454)

Yesterday I intalled Windows XP Service Pack 2

I Haven`t used it before, net even Servicve Pack 1.

In what ways does Service Pack 2 make difference? I think that a lot of people install it, but still don`t know what it is.

Like me, for example :whistling:

In general it's simply a bundle of bugfixes and security patches for Windows. Unfortunately, it's also known to cause new problems.

So, do you reccomend Service pack 1 instead?

Would I recommend patch v1.1 over patch v1.2?
Well, it depends.

If you have no problems with SP1, then installation of SP2 is a purely optional thing.

Personally, I would recommend hunting down and shooting Bill Gates.

I would say a lot of bad words towards the creators of Service Pack 2 ,but I`ll stay civilized in this case.

So, after a day using Windows XP Service Pack 2, my Windows went crazy. I also downloaded the latest patches by the way. The system couldn`t recognise my loggin password at the beginning , and a lot of other crazy stuff.

I have just reinstalled the old Windows XP with no service packs at all. I have formated everything. Now it is ok.
But anyway I realy wouldn`t reccomend to anyone to install Service Pack 2. Realy.

Does anyone have any experience with Service Pack 1?

^_^ As I said, if there are no problems when running unpatched Windows, there is no need to patch the thing.

Just a side note: An anagram for "Microsoft Service Pack Two" is "Farce! Comic twists provoke."

I have sp2, and tons of trouble, but I think most of them are due to my own incompetence.

Yup, it always comes back to me as well, but I can hardly keep it in mind as well: NEVER (EVER) change/touch a running system. I know the temptation: Maybe here a bit this and there a bit of that and.... CRASH!
