i'm curious!
to all people who produce their tracks with a computer.
which piece of software do you use? feel free to vote on our list and
tell us about your experience with certain programs...

as far as i'm considered i use "cubase" and "reason"...
reason appeared to me as the most flexible software althoug it might be
not that professional. nevertheless it is capable of many different functions
and unyfies alot of diversed devices such as mixer, synths, samplers and a
loop player.

reason rules! :D what are your favourites for composing digital music?

Finale 2005 is what I use to compose all of my pieces, if that's what you mean

I used to do some fiddling with madtracker a couple of years ago.

Mainly because the unreal tournament engine used .xm format and we where making a mod :D

Finale - really powerful but has one of the most unfriendly interfaces I've ever used. LOL
For composing "serious" music I use Sibelius 2 (can't be bothered to upgrade to 3).

For audio I generally use Logic or Cubase. I also use Adobe Audition which is what used to be Cool Edit.

I mainly use Finale, bit Sibelius, and I have fruity loops. Can't say i'm any good, though...

never heard about finale or sibelius... but that might be only a proof of how
narrow-minded i am using music software

if more of you are interested, we could consider contributing some tutorials
about the most popular programs here (if needed...)

I have FL studio 4.5 and my friend borrowed reason 2.5, reason has great samples but FL is better with VST plugins...

They are quite different than Fruity loops. I use them to write classical music, but once me and my former boyfriend wrote a song in Finale called Ode to Gu?rún. Gu?rún was our potatoe (long story). It was really nice!!! I wonder if i still have it somewhere....

But I don't have Finale nor Sibelius anymore :(
I didn't really buy them (REALLY expensive, at least here in Iceland), borrowed it from a friend. But then he moved abroad, and my computer crashed. Stupid me not burning them on cd's :wall:

I was taught on Finale, and I've been using it for several years now, and I can honestly say that once you get used to the interface, it is far more superior than Sibelius (I never really liked it, but I guess that could be because I'm a Finale purist.)

I have some junky music studio program. I hooked up my keyboard so I could record some songs directly to the comp, and there's a 12!!! second delay. It's so hard to do it that way, so I put it together manually inside the prog, and it just sounded awful, so I gave up.

Supposedly, I can hook my guitar up, too, but I haven't tried it yet.
