I haven't played the game since it was originaly out (the cds are like brand new), but iirc it was already in 3D.

Holy Shizzles! This looks awesome! Hopefully CD-Less as I lost my TA CDs long ago and they cost an arm and a leg.

I really want all of them in the Commander Pack or whatever it is called, but Amazon have pretty much none of them, ever.

It's semi-3D. The units are all fully 3D, as are the effects like explosions, but the terrain is pseudo-3D with a fixed camera, whereas the screenie above shows true 3D terrain with a free-moving camera, as far as I can tell, which would be pretty damn sweet.

those graphics are sexy... not in their beauty ( I find them a tad on the ugly side) but by the scale that things are happening. I love pyrotechnics, and there are so few games that allow truly massive battles like that.

...does TA allow you to customize your units with weapons and stuff, a la Master of Orion or Earth 2150?

Nope, there are tech levels, which work on what units can build the buildings, so only advanced construction vechicles can build the really good stuff. More advanced vechicle factoris and airports can build better units.

Some of the animation was really well done, like the planes that do barrel rolls and loop the loop, before spirraling into the ground when hit.

no, but Warzone 2100 does, and was released around the same time (a bit after) and is of a similarly high quality, plus has a better plot in singleplayer.
