i know the correct answer for quiz of the day today and i gave the answer to the quiz and it didn't accept it!!! :no:

this was the fifth or sixth time that this has happened to me. :cry:

Yep seems to be another Quiz error, it happens sometimes when the site decides to play funny games with us. There are good reasons for why it does them but I can't remember what they are, something to do with two versions of the node and the Quiz looking for the old one, but the drop down giving the new one.

I searched the game, found the screenshot, got the name from the drop down and was Incorrect. Just so people know.

Oh and does someone want to edit that name out so that if this does get fixed it's not sitting there. :p

there's also another possible error that has to do with the quiz:
the current screenshot can be found under both "xxx" and "xxx".

I know which games you mean and: no, the zcreenies ain't the same.
There is one detail in today's quiz sceenie that can tell you which game is the correct one.
And yes, if you input the correct game name, you get your PoE (as yours truly did, of course)

Tomorrow I'll post a pic with the difference and how to determine about what game the quiz was about.

TA pointed out why this game has the screenshot on two games, and thats fine....if a little odd. Makes the quiz a little bit harder. :p

There are also issues with oldwarez list that may get in the way with quiz... just so you know.

Oliver and Company was changed from & due to it being a bugged Screenshot before. Guess the bug is still there somewhere. These things happen guys, not much we can do about them. If you really want some PoEs send in a review for a game. We need reviews for a lot of games waiting to get onsite.

I gave the correct answer yesterday :mischief: and I wrote only 'oliv' under the quiz and Abandonia gave me the full name of the game and accept the 'Oliver and Company'. After this I clicked on 'Guess!' !

If you guys really...really want to get PoEs then Translate, write reviews, make screenshots for said reviews and provide games that we don't have or extras for games.

All of those give you way more PoEs then the daily quiz.

I do not understand why the Quiz has error many times, today I had a correct answer and the answer was Unfortunatelly, blablabla...

Yup, it must be the "&", I'm sorry guys but I can't "refund" around 150000 users :p, don't take it so seriously, sometimes the answer is on the screen and the quiz is very easy, sometimes it's impossible to guess (literally) :p
We will try to solve the problem though, thank you for reporting it.

Naaah... I do not want the PoEs that badly. I am just obsessed with the daily quiz, you know, like one of those guys who think that answering the daily quiz is as important as brushing your teeth :D

It is not really all that important to me (lie). I do enjoy the minor sense of puzzle solving %26 getting PoEs accredited for answering correctly %26 listing things off that have '%26' in the sentences. :mischief:

I do value the residual side effects of the quiz though. There are so many more games out there that I never would have even known about if I had not looked at them while searching for the answer to the Daily Quiz

Unfortunately we can't do much, we reported the problem many times but they haven't solved it, and I don't have access to the source code so I can't even try to patch it.

Some Daily Quiz error info (?)
 

After a little research, it turns out it has to do with URL encoding. It just means that certain characters need to be converted to a different code before they can be transmitted over the Internet.

"...Only alphanumerics [0-9a-zA-Z], the special characters "$-_.+!*'()," [not including the quotes - ed], and reserved characters used for their reserved purposes may be used unencoded within a URL."

You can get a list and read more about it if you want. It's kind of interesting (to me, at least) and to "Oliver+%26+Company ". Isn't "Skull+%26+Crossbones" the symbol for Piracy or Poison (death to the quiz, in this case).

It still doesn't fully explain why today's damaged tissue (lesion) didn't register. Perhaps this was the time it was damaged after the last quiz trauma. Wasn't that the fifth or so such incident?:sneaky:

I guess it really has little to do with the actual quiz itself, just something to be on the lookout for in the future. I'm going to view this just like it is another buggy game. Now that I know what the bug is, I know what to look out for in the future.;)

No offense, but we knew that already. Better said, we knew that it is a little bit different. URL encoding is not the problem (spaces work, for instance) but the solution. The & is parsed as AND so we have to replace it by %26. For 7th Legion I thought that the problem could be that it was 7th Legion, The in the past. Tests via dummy accounts didn't confirm that, though.

Forum is supposed to be about open discussion, emphasis on open. To me, this means listening to others is just as important is spouting out my own opinions. So...

If "we" already knew that, then I was not a member of the "we" when that happened. I knew something about the ampersand (&), but couldn't remember the number needed to replace it, so I tried looking it up on the Internet.

I didn't know anything about the The for 7th Legion, but that just leads me to believe it is possible that the data for that entry exists in two places in two different forms. If that were true, a == would never be possible since the information doesn't match itself.

I'm still trying to figure out why it accepts spaces which, according to theory, should technically be %20, but they show up as plus signs (+) in the URL. It's an opportunity for more knowledge and a learning experience for me, so I thought I would share what I discovered on the way.

Anyway, I was just looking at it from the viewpoint of a puzzle to be solved. I've heard that if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. This might not always be true, but it didn't feel right to me to constantly complain about not getting my PoE for the Daily Quiz errors without trying to do at least a little bit of research as to why.

It accepts spaces because the quiz has nothing to do with URLs. It's a JavaScript application that compares your input with the title of the respective game. Either the JavaScript sees the ampersand as an operator or the site stores the ampersands in game titles as & or %26 to avoid an operator or an HTML error for other instances.


And to quote your link:

Just out of curiosity, did anyone check "The 7th Legion" or "Seventh Legion" with the dummy accounts? It doesn't really matter in the long run, just interesting to me.

It's a learning vacuum. I've read a 1000-page PHP instruction and forgot approximately 999 pages. For HTML, JavaScript and CSS I always use references. I should at least start a notebook for the problem solutions I reach, but I'm to unorganised to do that. *^_^

I did only check "7th Legion, The", "7th Legion%27 The" and "%37th Legion" (for an unlikely problem with a beginning cypher). I didn't think of that the game could have been "The 7th Legion". :doh2: Another cause could be a wrong relation between screenshot and game, but that is unlikely.

and today again i entered the correct answer and the 'quiz master' didn't accept it... :oh:

It'd really help to solve the issue if you could tell'em what the problem was. What you typed in, wether there were other formats offered in the alternate box, what is abandonia's format of the title etc.

I like the daily quiz. I even made a tool to help me find answers I don't know take less time.

:dislike:Okay. In my case, since I get these "wrong" with the same frequency as the rest who are told they have given the incorrect answer, I'll play along.

For every daily screenshot quiz, I follow these steps:
- Find the game page on site
- double check the screenshot vs. the main page
- select and copy the text from the game's title on the individual game page
- paste the copied name into the quiz form text field
- wait for the drop down response
- verify the correct response matches what I have pasted exactly
- select the response from the list
- verify the response now filled in by the auto-response list matches what I have pasted exactly (since the copy is already in my buffer, it is pasted in a new text window and verified)
- hover my mouse over the submit button
- lean my head back, close my eyes and begin typing things furiously at random until eventually the keyboard buffer overflows or the 'enter' key is pressed
- hope and pray the answer for the day is, by some act of other worldly power, correct

Maybe I misread your post but Bermuda Syndrome was yesterday's answer. Today's answer is .... well, I had problems with today's answer as well since .... instead of a "/" in the middle of the name, Abandonia uses a "-" in the middle of the name. (If you try to enter a name with a "\" or a "/", you get an error.)

Today's quiz i bugged. The autochoice offers the 3 games from the series, I chose the right title, and it says the guess was incorrect!

Another one here. I knew the game, and I selected correct one from auto-guess - and it is "wrong". I suppose, either auto-guess cannot work with very long names/parenthesis, or it's the same for matching part.

and today again the quiz master got drunk or something :wacko: and didn't accept the correct answer ...Fantastic...

Fantastic? Hmmm... I was thinking of a different word that starts with the letter 'F'.

My theory, just a theory, is that if you read the review for the game, you will notice the title in the review is always written with an '&' sign. So maybe that was supposed to be like one of the other games. We may as well start a list of past failures:

• Oliver and Company - & = %26
• M.U.D.S. - Mean Ugly Dirty Sport - possible bad screenshot?
• Bermuda Syndrome - possible typo in db?

I'm sure there are others I don't know about or don't remember.

I'm pretty sure I gave the correct answer as I'm a fan of the series but unfortunately the quiz states my answer was incorrect. (I'm using english version of the hp)

I've solved the problem with Wing Commander II bug, there was a Spanish corrupted translation in the hint list of the quiz.

There is no problem with today's quizz. There are two form of choice because of the "The" tag, but if you compare the names with the Abandonia-version (english interface), the solution is correct.

But there is certainly no such problem as the same picture would apply to more then one game!

Please never tell the solution of the Daily Quiz on its day, even if you think the answer is incorrect!!! (And it IS correct today.)

Hmm. I thought, everyone knows main hero, and there is only two games with it anyway. And both cited games are not correct answers. Uh, ok.

I suppose, you wasn't copied this reply to Dave, Luchsen? Ok. As I don't remember it too, then I will contact Dave directly tomorrow...

I saw the post and I'll give it a look, but yes please, it's important to report bugs but it's better to wait the day after because if it's a false positive the fun of the game is ruined.

If you add the same title of the game page you'll answer correctly, however there are two entries that can trick people, I'll try to remove them if possible.

for me too, theres a bug... one i encountered numerous times... a picture is displayed, clearly identifiable as this or that game... but when i type in the solution, it says "incorrect answer" - like yesterday, the pic was clearly "total eclipse", today it says it was bc's quest for tires... that - excuse the frank words - sucks...

This can't happen because the quiz "loads" the picture, if it's wrong it will stay wrong for the whole day..
So the modifications become effective the next day :)

The nodes structures and translations were ok, so I've substituted the screens for Total Eclipse and BC's quest for tires, it's likely that they were corrupted.

Please keep reporting them, we have solved many in the last year :)

Dave, it happens again. :) I am double-checked each picture, it was only one answer - and it says wrong. Check spelling of auto-fill, please, I think, it was spaces in the begin... but I can be wrong.

Ooops, forget it. :) It seems, I was lucky to answer just when "site's day" was changing, so now it appears that I answered on today's quiz not yesterday "Moonstone". :)

What happens at the GMT+2 changeover of the screenshot quiz?

I can't tell you for sure, but it looks like a load glitch during the changeover.
Sorry but I can't do much for that, the code may have little problems, but which code is perfect? :)

BTW we have started to update all game nodes too reduce quiz errors, it will take lot of time but the result is guaranteed.

Interesting, I will give it a look, they have the same filename but I suspect it's a matter of different file type (.png and .gif)

I've replaced Quarantine II screenshots, it is possible that they were the source of the glitch because of their wrong format and wrong filename.

Well, if you consider a .gif a wrong format, you still have tens of games on the site with .gifs or .jpg as their picture format instead of .png and even one game (Gobliiins) with .bmp as its picture format.

However I think the problem was a mix of two events, the different format and the name of the node that was edited from Quarantine II to Quarantine II - Road Warrior, but the screenshots kept the old name.

Here is a partial list so far through letter "B". Let me know if its any help and if you would like me to check the rest.

It looks like the problem occurs with .gifs that are recognized as .pngs

For example:
Back to the Future Part II

If you try to save the 8th picture you'll see a file named:
Back to the Future Part II_8.gif.png

However .jpgs pictures are ok, same for animated gifs.

It would be great to have a detailed list, but it will probably take lot of time for you to prepare.

It did take a lot of time to prepare but I am somewhat obsessed with the screenshot quiz.

Here is a complete list of the Games that have pictures with a file extension of the Graphics Interchange Format (gif). I marked off those that download correctly as a .gif


One other thing that I noticed while checking through the screenshots. There are a few games whose screenshots names no longer match the game's names.
For example; The screenshots of Bust-A-Move are named Puzzle Bobble and the screenshots of Black Monday are named Stock Market - The Game.
There are others that have only a part of the game's name like the screenshots of (Games - Winter Challenge, The) are named just Winter Challenge and the screensots of Denarius Avaricius Sextus are named just Avaricius. I hope that they wont cause problems with the daily screenshot quiz.

Checked Back to the Future and 5th fleet. Well, it's really png. Why it named "gif"?.. But non-consistent names, I think, means more...

Dave, is there way for you to check game dirs directly, not through "common" interface? It could be much faster, I think...

The discrepancy of names can cause problems and glitches, the source of the problem is that a title was modified but the page wasn't updated accordingly.


I don't think it's such a serious problem, I guess it's the result of multiple edits, substitutions and maybe systems modifications performed by technicians during these years. And no, I can't access the folders where screenshots are stored. We must use the interface to delete/modify them.
I can solve it easily, just need the time and your patience :)

After you finish modifying the screenshots from this list would you like another list of the games which have a discrepancy of names.

Also I see that the new 5th fleet screenshot has the name including the added ", The" (like the current name of the game on Abandonia) but the other screenshots are just named 5th fleet without the ", The" and there are many other games on Abandonia that have similar minor discrepancies. From now on I'll leave normal .gifs screenshots as they are, the system recognize .gif as a correct format and it's pointless to substitute them with pngs.

I'll just substitute the .gif.png files which are the real source of glitches.

Err... Dave, I think, it's correct .png, that named .gif for some reason. I.e. it's "asdf.gif", but actually it is "asdf.png" inside. Not .gif.png. :) This extension appears only if you'll try to save it in browser that already recognized "true" format. So you need only to rename file back to .png, not substitute it.

Of course, if it's was exactly what you means, I am utterly sorry. :)

Here is an enormous list of screenshots that don't match the game's name exactly. Most of them will not effect the quiz at all like today's screenshot which has added to its name the words "For Windows" even though it doesn't appear in the Game's name but the quiz worked just fine.

In my next post I will subdivide that list into similar differences like the addition of ", The" at the end, the change from Arabic numerals to Roman numerals, the addition of a subtitle, etc.

However the following list which is not included in the previous list may affect the screenshot quiz. I have noticed that many of the games on site are missing the appropriate apostrophe, I am guessing that they were removed to avoid problems with the quiz. If so the following games still have the apostrophe or the screenshots are still encoded with a colon.

Boppin' = still has the apostrophe.
Chip's Challenge = still has the apostrophe.
Corridor 7: Alien Invasion = still has the colon encoded in the screenshots.
Dragon's Lair - Escape from Singe's Castle = still has the apostrophe.
Fool's Errand, The = still has the apostrophe.

L'Empereur = still has the diacritic.

I'll focus my time on the ".gif issue", after that I'll go ahead with translations update (other source of glitches) and then I'll check if the screenshots that have a different name are a real source of problems.

However another good method which gave good result is keeping an eye on the daily quiz and report me problems, we found and solved many errors during this year :)

I am happy to see that one of the corrected screenshots (formerly with a .gif extension) has been successfully used in today's quiz.

Oh. I see too that all of the names of the screenshots of Frogger II - Three Deep have been corrected even those that were always a .png. Well, you can check that one off the lists.

It wasn't easy but now it's done :)



The problem with the file extensions and the corresponding glitches have been solved.
Now I'm going ahead with translations nodes that needs to be updated, this will solve other glitches like different title names and so on.

Today's quiz is wrong. I looked up the game, compared the picture, chose the right answer, and still says "unfortunatelly you are wrong".

There were two similar answers, but one was connected to an outdated translation and was wrong.

I am concerned about the game node for game 667; Tom & Jerry Cat-astrophe.
It shows up as Tom+%26+Jerry+Cat-astrophe (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/66...-astrophe.html). I hope that the %26 won't affect the quiz.

We are aware of the problem, and unfortunately it's one of those we haven't solved yet.
It's connected to special characters, especially the "&", but if you add the %26 it works.
Once done with the other fixes I'll try to contact the technician again.

The game Gobliiins is the only game that has it's screenshots in .bmp format. I hope that it won't impact the daily quiz.

I entered all the letters/numbers, and got no result of the solution. Without any special characters, but the full name, all suggestions went away from the suggestion-box, that's why I assumed the title is not in the database.

Today's quiz's suggestion box offers two choices for the correct game One with arabic numerals and one with roman numerals. Since the game on site currently has roman numerals in the name, I chose the the roman numerals and was marked as correct.

I hope that anyone choosing the correct game with arabic numerals from the dropdown choices in the suggestion box wont be told that they are incorrect.

Happy new year everybody! Got to report the first error, tho (after not being able to log onto the site all day yesterday, but thats a different story - glad you got it fixed!)

So, the error i wanted to report: Todays - positively counter-checked - solution is not in the proposed titles... todays solution has one very iconic word in it, that appears - according to the searchfunction of the site - in 3 games you guys have listed, on of them being todays "screenshot"... but when i enter that very word, theres only the other two games... (i will not, however, post the proper solution, in order to not spoil the game...)

I noticed that too. However I did not report it because the error was in the suggestion box only. Once I put in the name of the game I was marked as correct and I received 5 POE.

I noticed close to the same problem on Dec. 3 '11 when the correct answer was Frogger (3D) but when I typed in Frogger the suggestion box only offered Frogger and Frogger II - Three Deep. Though when I put in the whole name of Frogger (3D) it was recognized.

From yesterday's partial problem, to today it is even worse.
I put in the correct answer and it said that I was wrong.

Now since it did not accept the correct answer anyways even though I really put in the right answer and I hid my answer under a spoiler warning and only entered it obliquely, I hope that I won't be blamed for ruining the quiz for anyone else.

I really hope that these problems can be fixed soon.

Abovo employees upgraded the servers and are working on the cache problem recently, so that could be the reason.

Tonight's was a cracker! The name of the game was actually on the screen shot but that answer came up wrong as well!

It is wrong again, today. Or at least I selected the correct answer from the list and it told me I was wrong.

Yes, this is clearly a database problem, they upgraded server and moved something that was necessary for the quiz to work.

I'm disabling the quiz and notifying the technician, sorry for the inconvenience.

Don't panic, that's the old issue with special charaters, instead of & put the %26, it worked for me.

Since other people posted while I was editing my post, here it is again.

As you can read earlier in the thread here and here, it is a leftover bug in the quiz possibly from when they changed the name from "and" to "&". However today the quiz allows you to try again and to get the 5 Pieces of Eight use %26 instead of &. Take the answer from the dropdown and substitute %26 for the "&" and you will be marked as correct.

just for the record, when i entered the - obvious - solution, it came up with the right title. i chose this title from the dropdown, but it was shown as wrong. after checking on the forum, i refreshed the page, and, well, it let me enter another solution - which was accepted as wrong **** again. so i did refresh another, and then, finally, the same solution i had entered before (actually, i was copy and pasting from the menu before, since i expected something like that) did the job....

The game of the screenshot for today's quiz does not show up in the dropdown suggestions. Happily though the quiz does accept the correct answer. I only tried the answer with the name completely capitalized as it is on site though, I don't know if it will be accepted with lower case letters.

I was marked as wrong again today even though the game title is clearly in the screenshot. Maybe it is due to the nightmarish:sneakrete: subtitle that was given in the suggestion dropbox and in the games current name on on site but the subtitle is not given in the source screenshot on site which is ---- --_3.png. I had posted already a list of games that have had a subtitle added to the games name but the screenshot is without them.

I suggest we should record a new entity in everyone's personal account: the probably earned pieces of eight. Like in the aerial victories: if you can't prove you have shot down an enemy, they count it as a probable victory for you. I have many probably earned pieces of eight :smile2:.

the funny thing is that it now gives "front lines" as the correct answer for yesterday's quiz, although i clearly remember getting PoEs for "operation frog".

That is probably because the quiz was changed in the middle of the day. I neglected to refresh my browser and the old Deja Vu screenshot showed up and I was marked as wrong again.:palm:

One other point. The game on site is called NHL Hockey 94 but the screenshots have the name of NHL Hockey 93 as I have mentioned before. Well from Dosraider's response the quiz seemed to work anyways. I couldn't check it out because as I have mentioned the old screenshot came up and I answered incorrectly again.

After entering the name of the series in the suggestion dropbox only the original game, II and Trilogy showed up as suggestions. The correct game which is 3 was not suggested. Though it was accepted when it was entered manually.

The "drop box" did act kind of funny. I had to key in the first 2 words of the title before this title showed up on the list. For some reason, the first word alone was not sufficient.

I checked the game but this time it's not a bug, it's just how the search engine reacts to number and names, normal and romans.

You know, this is not that difficult. I can write you a crap application in a crap language that will perform this function without failing most of the time.

Easy to say without knowing anything about the whole situation.
It's still possible that your simple application wouldn't work in an old platform modified without a real criterion (and without taking documentation) affected by other problems of instability.

The technician will try to go deeper next week.

Abovo will probably be interested in hiring you, as long as you don't want to be paid, and agree to carry a huge sandwich board advertisement wherever you go :D

as for bluewave: lucky you, then... then again, if you earned 400PoE and never failed, that also means you took part in 80 games... out of 365... chances ARE you were lucky to not stumble over one of the "bad" quiz days...
fact is... the quiz has been having issues - which the abandonia crew eagerly fixed as soon as they could (just like any issues about the site are being fixed asap when made note of...) so, im hoping this current (rather longish) repair will fix the issue once and for all :)

This is the situation: after many changes and a server upgrade made to improve many fields of the site the Quiz started to fail its duties every week or two. (Instead of the normal random glitches that we were able to fix once for all)

The tech guy noticed that there's a glitch that corrupt tables where the answers are compared.
As you know there's a way to reload the Quiz, but this solves the problem only temporarily until a new problem appears.
Don't worry the Quiz is still there and still (half) working, and we would like to have it back too. It's just disabled, I saw that this was becoming a source of frustration and difficult to manage so we decided to leave it disabled.

I hope we will find a solution or we should start thinking other alternatives.
That's pretty much all I know for now :)

The live test is going well, I need more time to understand if it's a matter of luck or if the bug is hiding somewhere waiting to strike again.

The first positive thing is that we can reload the quiz without the support of the technician, this means we already have an effective solution for sporadic bugs. :)

I'm enabling it for the weekend to see if it works, please give me feedback and report me problems.

Don't forget that it's still possible that little glitches connected to games (not to the quiz) will appear, in this case just report me the title and I'll try to fix it ASAP.

I think the problem is with game titles. Games that have titles like "Cow's Milk, The" that have ' hyphens, saxon genitive and the "The" at the end give error when you input them in quiz reply form. :)

Yup it looks like special characters problem hasn't been completely solved, tried using %27 sintead of ' ?

Sorry but as I stated many times it's not feasible.

The last Quiz fail was connected to corrupted tables, it's the worst problem and we thought that was solved cause it didn't appear for 2 months.
I've reported the issue to the tech guy, I hope he will find a way to fix it in a definitive way.

Well, since the game on site is now called I chose that one correctly. I hope that the other choice wont be marked as wrong.

I've found the problem and corrected it, the wrong names came from old translations nodes that weren't updated.

I hope that with all the new updates that something did not go wrong with the quiz. I was all jazzed up to answer but it rejected my correct answer. Maybe it took a holiday here?

There may be a bug in today's quiz. The dropdown box offered two choice for the game for the screen shot I input the one without the numeral as it is currently named on site and was marked as correct.

The node is published correctly and I've also tried to refresh/update it, however it looks like a glitch of the search engine or the Quiz module and how it sorts and visualizes titles, somehow I can see the title in the edit panel-dropdown, but not in the Quiz.

I'm sorry but I can't find a solution with my current permissions...but you can always consider it as a special challenge of the Quiz ;)

The dropbox suggestions for today's screenshot quiz offered the name of the game twice once with Roman numerals and once with Arabic numerals. I answered and was marked correct for using the Roman numerals as the game is currently named on site. I hope that anyone who chooses the answer with Arabic numerals will also be marked as correct.

I also confirm a problem with the quiz. I found the game, selected the correct game name from the dropdown list and received an incorrect answer message. I know you'll get it fixed, thanks ahead of time!

in the past people have been able to get the correct answer by substituting some code in place of the apostrophe, does anyone know what that might?

While inputting the answer to today's screenshot quiz, I noticed that there are two entries for the second game of the series in the dropdown suggestion box. I hope that if ever that game is randomly picked for the quiz that it wont cause an error.

The dropbox even gave a regular "and" as the connector not the ampersand (&) and it still marked it as wrong.

Didn't think anything would be messed up with "and" spelled out. Maybe it is just some type of db problem instead of the non-alpha character problem.

Once again today there are two versions of the name for the game of today's screenshot, one with Roman numerals and one with Arabic numerals. The screenshot for today's game comes from the April Fools entry of last year. I recognized it because as I have mentioned earlier, due to my OCD with the quiz I have committed to memory all the screenshots on Abandonia even those from the April Fool's games. The current amount of games on site is 1365 with 9477 screenshots.

Who is supposed to recognize a screenshot from a beta version of a game?

It did mark me as correct though when I answered. Perhaps since the game is still listed on Abandonia as opposed to Leisure Suit Larry Online and Strip Poker 3 from 2010 and 2011.

It does have the name "Alterac" in it, and you could figure out it is from a Warcraft game (at least if you have played wow ; D )

Leisure Suit Larry Online was a fake game, screens were designed by some talented members of the crew, but the beta version of Warcraft adventures exists after all, those are real screens :)

The fact that it's vaporware put the game in the same category of those games you can't download from Abandonia, just consider the site as a sort of museum :)

It looks like, that today"s quiz has a bug again.

Yes, I did as always. I guess I found the problem however, and it is because of the timezones. The picture changed at midnight CET, I had the possibility to enter a name for it, but in the background, it still waited for the name of the prior quiz.

Right now it's 21:15 here, and the quiz says: "You can try your luck again in 3 hours and 45 minutes when the next quiz starts!", which means it will switch to the new one at 01:00.

I'm pretty sure that the image today is from "Y:LPT 2 - Unhappiness from down below" - or something similar. I chose the answer in the drop down list - but it was wrong!?

I know that today's answaer has to do something with a time measuring device... :). But when i try to click to GUESS button, it doesn' respond, and the list doesn't appaer. I don't have anything blocking cookies or scripts. Anyone met this problem today?

Worked fine for me yesterday and today, using Firefox 18.

Opera here. Still nothing worked.

Chrome. Same thing.

IE. Doesn't work with base, but copy/paste worked as described above.

Conclusion: modern FF is only browser that exist on "site staff" machines.

Additionaly "missing security token" was generated when I had expired time, then tried to relogin in different page. Oh, well...

I can also confirm the quiz isn't working. I've attempted to answer in the past two days using IE, FireFox, and Chrome. No go! Is it perhaps related to the donation banner on the top of the front page? I didn't notice any troubles before the banner was there.

Oh, and on an unrelated note, I did send a donation to the Abandonia staff. Many thanks to them for all they do! Abandonia is a fantastic resource to have available on the web!

hey, abovo... whats up? you are aware that blocking the quiz with a dubious plea for donations (while im being bombed by non-related advertisement banners) is not going to make me donate... and i have a *hunch* im not the only one to feel that way; so, please, if you dont know how to make both the request for donations AND the quiz work... disable either... and take some time to consider what it is you want to close down...

So we can't participate in the quiz unless we donate? Are they serious? Donating is always optional, that's why it's called a donation. At least someone from the staff should explain what is going on.

Chris, it was a joke earlier. You don't need to donate anything, and donating will not allow you to vote. Contest is simply was broken because of banner.

BTW, today I was able to guess in my Opera. Unfortunately (as I didn't knew game anyway) I didn't wait enough to test if base works too, but guessing is.

Ok, thanks for your answer but the quiz still doesn't work for me.

I checked it somewhere upper in this thread, and someone else did that too. In short: guessing work in Internet Explorer only and newest Firefox - last one seems haven't problems unlike everything else. Other browsers seems blocked by this banner (at least it broke something on page for sure).

Update of my previous message: it is banner. While I cannot press "more" because page didn't load to the end, I can guess in Opera. Base is not works, but button "Guess" is. When page loaded completely, I can press "more" at banner and "open" it, but button "Guess" stops to work. Great programming, it seems.

(Tomorrow I will try to block banner altogether and see results :)
