Chatroom doesn't work. An alternative.
 

Seeing that
the chatroom isn't working
the sb was an essential element of the old ab and the community

I suggest we agree on an external "shoutbox" say, an irc.

Can it be easily set up permanently? And can we agree on where to find that irc or whatever we go for?

@Studentis: please restore the shoutbox or improve/fix the new one. (on forum main page and with smilies if it's possible)...

I remember that there always was fuss with the shoutbox, cause some people had to spam it or to abuse it in other ways.
I loved the shoutbox. I had very lively chat in there and I got closer to members like russ, MM, Lulu, Chosen, Scatty and several more.
Some say it's been the heart of the forum. I'd say that's a bit too drastical.
But I can clearly recall that we could give some INSTANT hints to newbies and other members that had a small prob.

I won't give a conclusion, you all make your own conclusion. :)

Yeah I miss the old shoutbox. We need some kind of chat device, quickly!

I guess what I asked was: Can we (the members) set up an "unauthorized" irc channel/chatroom? SixApes offered the Cafè, but that died. I have next to no idea how these ircs work, let alone how to create one, but if any of us have, then perhaps they could organize such an irc/chatroom.

Keep in mind that Abandonia is bound to have a chatroom/shoutbox sooner or later, actually it has it already only that it's not working for some reason. Once things are sorted out and Abandonia provides an official chatroom, either it or the unofficial one will most likely be discarded, or the community will split.

I'm sure the current Chatroom will be up and running again sooner or later.

How comes that the chatroom is worse than before? It's not even loading anymore! :(
