The Spanish people kicked out their corrupt Aznar government after the mass terror attacks on the trainstations, which killed hundreds.

Since we're living in democracies (well I hope you do), this sounds like a good thing to me. Instead of giving your government:

-more money
-more powers

when they fail, do what the Spanish did.

Kick them out of office. EDIT: Do not renew their service contract.

If your government can't protect you, they are not doing a good job. In the corporate world, people who do badly are fired. If your government fails to protect you, fire your government. EDIT: hold them accountable and do not give them a new mandate.

It wasn't really "kicking out", there was an election and a different party from the old one was elected, there is little doubt that the this was as a result of the Madrid terrorist attack but you make it sound as if there was revolution or a coup or something.

Okay okay LOL

The Spanish people decided it would not be in their best interests to keep the same government in power.

So what exactly are you suggesting, then?

Microprose Veteran 07-07-2005 05:48 PM

Uh, don't vote for Tony Blair?

Darn, they've already had elections.

Next time, don't vote Labour, don't vote Conservative, vote Liberal Democrats instead?

EDIT: still, Parliament could pass a vote of no confidence against Blair and then they would have to hold new elections.

I don't know what british have to do now, but if terrorist with these bombs are able to make pubblicity themselves, modify the G8 program and control the election... well, they reaced their pourposes...

Maybe it's right to dismiss Blair, but i don't like that this is caused by terrorists... i hope you understand me...
I don't like Berlusconi (our premier) but i'll not like if we change him because of terrorists: it seems a bit like loosing democracy.

Sebatianos 07-07-2005 06:59 PM

Well... not to re-elect Tony is entirely up to the voters in Great Britain (so my opinion doesn't really count), but I guess he has made many false decisions connected to terrorism.
A agree that he should not be dismissed from the office because of a terrorist attack - that would only encourage the terrorist movement to keep making such attacks untill they themselves would agree with every PM on the face of the Earth (that's just :not_ok: ). And I guess it's not really his fault (his politics was probably unpopular within the terrorist circles - but who cares). It's the security forces (MI5/MI6) that actually failed. They are the ones concerned with preventing such attacks.

Anyway:
My deepest condolences to the families of all the victims (may there be as little of the victims as possible).

@Quintopotere:
I hope I'm terrebly wrong about this. I hope there will be no next terrorist attack, but...
I'm afraid Italy would be the next target. Think about it. First target was US (9/11), next was the underground in Madrid (because they supported US in attack on Iraq). Now it's London (British are US allies). Silvio Belrusconi is an allie of the US, so I'm affraid Italy is much more likely target then France or Germany (predicting that if these attacks go on they will happen in big cities of importaint countries).

Quintopotere 07-07-2005 07:11 PM

@Sebastianos: I know that we could be the next... i'm hoping that our police and secret service will do an ultra-good-job to stop terrorists!

Sebatianos 07-07-2005 07:16 PM

I join you in your hopes.

I hope this attack on London is the last terrorist attack we'll ever have to vitness.
