For some reason, sometimes my torrent client, Azureus, wont seed any torrents. Its because, for some way, Im not "connected".

I read the help file and info, but all I realised was this: If I want to seed, I should shut down firewall. Im not sure if this would be safe option.

Is there any other way to connect without closing the firewall?

BTW, I have to seed these torrents. The torrents I download are wrestling related and If I want to download more, I have to seed.

Are you using the router? you probably need to open the port, if you do.

velik_m is right. and if its just in software firewall, you can usualy set 'exceptions' (programs which firewall wont block)

seed torrents not only when you need it for download!

What kind of firewall do you use? Maybe someone here knows the answer if You could provide a name of the program.

BTW - r.u.s.s. is right - it's not good to seed only the things you NEED to seed to download more! BitTorrent nework is about sharing, and You should seed for 24h after download or at least to get ratio above 1. I often try to keep ratio at level higher than 2 (for some torrents it's really easy)

I'm always for minimum ratio of 2x - though if the tracker is ratio-dependant I set seeding for 3.5x

Shutting down your firewall will do, but that idea is as good as... well, as shutting down your firewall. You should be able instead to selectively open the needed ports only. For example, the last two green conditions in the picture --above the last "block anything else" red one-- are the ones I need for eMule to work. Your torrent program should tell you which ports it's using.
