Not sure if this'll help but I had that problem too, and it turned out to be my wireless keyboard so cleaned the gunk out and replaced the batteries and it works fine now. Does it happen with any other game?

if you have a joystick, try to calibrate it properly (at first the same thing happened to me so i set up my ps2-pc controller converter properly and it was fine)

That happens to me in some games.Usually, i only need to press that direction again and when i release the key it works normally again. This was what i deed also with vice city. Don't know if it will work with you though, my keyboard is not wireless.

anyone have their USB mouse suddenly freeze in a game, then you hear a "duh dun" sound following that. Then a moment later everything returns to normal?

Thought at first my USB drivers.... but they're current, and everything else runs fine (with the exception of my 895Cse printer). Abit forum suggested maybe motherboard voltages in the bias, but I haven't gone that route yet.
