An admin to change my status to Updater

Hi everyone, I've joined these forums years ago. Each time I want to add or update my walkthrough (currently I have one for Bad Blood), there's a relentless race to find an admin who's still here to actually respond to PMs.

Is there an admin here who can simply change my status to Updater?

Thanks!

Umm. :mhh: Have you tried contacting them before?

Well, at least the most active Forum Leaders lately:

Administrators: GTX and Japo;

Super Moderators and also Updaters: marko river and Smiling Spectre;

Moderators: Cluseck and Mighty Midget (also Staff).

Unfortunately, the AB Forum has been more active, but it has been pretty quiet lately.

Japo didn't reply. I'll try GTX (guess you meant GTX2GvO). I don't think non admins will be able to help.

Hi LWC

You're right about slow updating... On the other hand updater is a position with broad access that requires a very high level of trust. Although we would be happy to have more updaters or more active ones, to take care of all this work, in order to consider someone for the position they would have to be helping and interacting on the forum frequently for a long time.

Right now I can update your walkthrough. Could you send it via FTP or in a link via PM?

Yes, I abbreviated the name GTX2GvO for convenience and ease. :hihihi:

Glad your problem is being solved. :OK:

Now do not say that. Updaters have the permissions and can also solve this. So much so that you can see on the main site the news published by marko river, _r.u.s.s., Etc.

The more help options, the better, right? Well, at least that is what I think. :)

Mystvan, I appreciate your help in this! Maybe you should be an admin.
The reason I preferred to find admins was to make me an Updater once and for all.

Here's a temp link, please update it: [temp link removed]

But I do think the state of this site/forums warrants more delegation. As for myself, I've been here for years and added at least one walkthrough, I think it should be enough. You can take an example from http://www.portablefreeware.com on how to earn edit rights.

Well, either that or provide an easy way to submit updates. Chasing admins is not so nice. ;-)

You are welcome! :OK:

lwc, thanks for the compliment. :blush:

To tell you the truth, I am one of the Updaters of a Comic book encyclopedia site (BU / MU). The Updater from there does not have as broad powers as the Updaters here.

So it is understandable to be cautious on the part of the Administrators here, as an evil-minded Updater could alter the content of the main site, delete the collection of files, games, etc.

It is quite possible that as there is a lack of Updaters, you can become one of them in the future. Just be patient. :OK:

Any update on this?

Sorry I had missed your link among the junk I had to moderate. :ouch:

I have just tried to update your document, only to find out that there seems to be no way to do it. :ouch: Our website CMS allows us to add extras, but not replace them. I thought there would be a backdoor way to delete extras, but it doesn't seem to have the desired effect. :ouch:

I don't see a good solution in this case... :lame:

Greetings O Great Emperor Japo(deis) :king: (not Capo :poke: nor Paco :paco:).

I hope you are not referring to my Puns, Infamous and Unfunny Bad Jokes and Nonsense Stuffs :umm: :hypocrite:...

By the way, I have a solution that is not totally satisfactory to work around this problem. :idea:

If it is possible to rename this file as “Walkthrough - Updated” or something? Would it be something like that, (Mi)Lady of the Rings :frodo: updated the Walkthrough written (Dragonsphere) and rename the file so there is no conflict or error on FTP? :dunno:
