Just recently they had a 2 hour radio show about them... The interview from a concert and a lot of their music (live and from the studio) and I must say I was fascinated! I had no idea they are sooo good. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do.
Does anyone have any recomendations? |
One word. Gish. Billy Corgan's recent solo album isn't half bad either - Walking Shade is probably the best thing he's written since Bullet With Butterfly Wings.
The Pumpkins' back catalogue contains a fair amount of filler, but there are some great things in there too. Melon Collie has some beautiful pieces, and I actually like (the first half of) Machina, though I think I'm pretty much alone on that one :) |
I haven't heard much but what I have heard sounds like Radiohead to me...
|
Meloncholie and the Infinite Sadness is where you want to start off... great album.
...and they may remind you of Radiohead Tulac as they were both greats of the 90's music scene, although Radiohead blows them out of the water. |

I was wondering which one to buy first (I'd probably go out looking for greatest hits or something - but that's not really a good thing to do - an album is a complete account the author/s wish to give - the best off is just a selection of some of the stuff). |
Zomg i love them, i remember them when i was like 6 years old!
|
You're right about the Greatest Hits - Rotten Apples sounds really odd; none of it goes together, especially the stuff off Mellon Collie which is almost a concept album really.
|
I never really liked this band. They really aren't saying anything but at the same time the music isn't good either.
|
They're good.
Meloncholie is their best, which unfortunately I lost. |
They were one of the first bands I sat around and listened to when I was in like, second grade because I jacked the CD from my brother.
That is also probably one of my favorite Simpson Episodes that has them in it, when Homer gets hit in the stomach w/ the cannon balls. |
Oh I think this band is great too :ok: , it sounds so 'tranquila'... Radiohead (great band too) is more kinda "depressive".
I personnally recommend you "Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness" (as everybody has done). U will love the hits in there, and will discover other jewels too that you will recommend other people to listen to hehe. |
Got it! Thanks for the recomendation.

What do you think?
