JimmyJ 06-02-2006 03:51 AM

alien trilogy.........maybe for me....hardly
System Shock 2
thief 2....the machines and zombie machines....freaky

Lucullus 06-02-2006 04:39 AM

Resident Evil had a good scare factor at some parts
Alien Trilogy when you were around facehuggers (hear them clipping around on the floor but not see them)
And that's about it... love dungeons :)

Don Andy 06-02-2006 05:05 AM

Silent Hill all the way.

It's like the only series where I never actually finished a game I started, because it's freaking me off so much.

Besides that only a few games actually really scare me.
F.E.A.R. does a pretty good job too ;)

Menasor 06-02-2006 05:43 AM

i agree...silent hill 2 in particular coz that was the first one i played...i freaked out at the first monster i saw...and then i couldnt play it at night coz i thought i heard weird creaking noises in my cupboard

SirPeter 06-02-2006 03:43 PM

Only Wolfenstein when I was younger. My brother used to play that game and I was watching besides him. Occasionaly I fell from my chair :D

Master MC 06-02-2006 05:44 PM

Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver
Catacomb Abyss

gufu1992 06-02-2006 08:51 PM

The only thing scares me is when strange voice comes out...
I quit the game and drink coce... lots of coce

Causes teeth erosion and calcium shortage you know...

skyfire1 06-02-2006 09:49 PM

resident evil 4, metal gear solid 3, and 7 days a skeptic had me screaming at some parts.

whats so "scarry" bout it? o_O

btw
the game that woth for fear was silent hill,
while i was playng alone in the dark it was a bit old, so it was much more funny then scarry=)

Yobor 06-02-2006 11:00 PM

F.E.A.R.
Thief.
Thief 2
System Shock 2
Half-Life: They Hunger. The beginning is pretty nerve-wracking on hard mode.

Havell 06-02-2006 11:03 PM

Syatem Shock 2 and Clive Barker's Undying come to mind. I only played Silent Hill a bit, but it was quite scary in places.

Mr.Snuggles 07-02-2006 02:06 AM

I don't see how people are scared of Resident Evil 4...that game is not scary..at least in my opinion. Although there was one part when that alien black guy that you have to freeze in order to kill...that was the only part that was SCARY!

Pretty much the same opinion. I hesitated at first, when I wanted to buy it cause I didn't want to pay for a game I'm too scared to play anyway, but now I'm rather disappointed.

Oh there's one thing beside the "right hand" that freaked me off in RE4: The Regenerados. Especially the one at the end of the game, in the small prison. You can hear these guys, but when you see them they most likely already hit you XD

Btw, I forgot a game: Dark Seed 2
It is not that scary, but I played it first, when I was a kid, and small kid + H.R.Giger graphics = scared as hell. I'm glad I'm through with this game now, it bothered me for years ^_^

Icewolf 07-02-2006 08:24 AM

I think when you're sort of in a game - as for me it's the resident evil ones - you get tougher. :D
When I played Resident Evil the first time I was 16, my handy were shivering and my heart beat was about 140/min... ^_^
When I played Veronica X there was almost nothing that could shock me anymore. Just some parts were a bit ugly...

Silent Hill is thrilling as well I think.

troop18546 07-02-2006 02:54 PM

Doom3 and Avp2 + any other game that has enemies who appear quickly on the screen. I beat'em all ofcourse.

Gelfo 07-02-2006 03:28 PM

Definetly Silent Hill, the original.

Um.. Alien Trilogy, I'd agree with that, a haunting atmosphere to it, those face huggers appear from nowhere.

Nightbreed, The Haunting Grounds, Forbidden Siren

The Resident Evil series has it's jump-scare moments, but apart from them I dont find it scary

Eagle of Fire 07-02-2006 03:51 PM

It will really be the day when a game will scare or even frighten me a little... ;)

Galadrin 07-02-2006 04:23 PM

Never been really scared during a game, but there was one mission in Thief III that disturbed me a little.

Anyone who's played it can probably guess the one.

Kearnsy 08-02-2006 09:18 AM

Yeah resident evil was quite scarey at times and te atmosphere contributed a lot to it IMO.
When I was young I was scared in Skifree when the monster at the bottom ran out and ate your guy!

Rogue 08-02-2006 10:11 AM

Two words:

Silent Hill!!!

I never found anything scary in RE series, just a lot of gore.

AvP2 is very scary if you play as marine! Poor thing has a problem to stay alive and moving. LOL

LOL LOL

I remember that game, I always wondered what its name was. It scared me, too the first time, but after that, I somehow was buffled about it rather than scared XD

And and that smilies above are not laughing at your post, but at the fact I can still remember that game now, and somebody else got scared by it ^_^

TheChosen 08-02-2006 12:36 PM

Scared?
Ha! Im not afraid of any game!

Oh yes you do....

Sebatianos 08-02-2006 12:56 PM

Games alone don't scare me, but to see what some people play and are convinced they're playing the best possible thing out there - now that's scary (people don't recognise quality anymore).

Himmler 08-02-2006 02:13 PM

i couldn't find any game to scare me... :(

Nightkin 08-02-2006 08:58 PM

Alone in the Dark 4 and Alien vs Predator 2

they where sooo scarry :w00t:

OMG Alone In the Dark 4 was VERY scarry.....never playing AVP2 but I played the 1st one....I couldn't play that game...esspecially the Marines lvls. Those aliens pop-up QUICKLY.

LeD 08-02-2006 11:33 PM

Resident Evil 3 Nemesis had me shaken alot because nemesis could show up on any screen randomly. Resident Evils were scary. Recently I saw Resident Evil 4 and they have finally ruined the series. Just the Camera following the guy made it none scary cuz you can look around...On others you had a SET camera for each room/area causing the scariness of whats around the corner that you can't see, or across the other side of the room...

Wolfenstein back in the early 90's pwned on scary factor until Doom came along...Doom all the way!!

Gelfo 08-02-2006 11:34 PM

You guys who say games can't scare you have never played the first Silent Hill

Squalidangel 09-02-2006 03:31 AM

Definetly resident evil... Was silent hill the guy with the scissor like things..? I was so frightened I couldn't even play without screaming when the music started and he came chasing,,

Squalidangel 09-02-2006 03:44 AM

Or was that clock tower

Don Andy 09-02-2006 07:03 AM

Silent Hill's favourite chaser was the Pyramid Head.
This gnome thingy with the scissors is from Clock Tower.

Gelfo 09-02-2006 12:02 PM

If you liked Clock Tower and the chase/hide element, you'll like a game called 'The Haunting Grounds' on PS2. It's a smilar concept, but much scarier. I didnt find the original Clock Tower scary because it was too.... um... funny? But I've not played the sequels.

TheChosen 09-02-2006 12:16 PM

Youre scared of me!!!!

Aaargh! Its Alone in the Dark!

Icewolf 09-02-2006 02:20 PM

Now seriously!

You can't just stand there and state that there's no scary game. :not_ok:

I mean didn't you ever had this scenario?
Raining outside... Just your desk-lamp and you....
You're palying a good scary game and it's the first time.

At LEAST your heart is racing if the game is a good one! :sneaky:

Another world also had a weary atmo!!!

Yep..as a kid I was scared while playing WOlfenstein...the sounds!!!(PC speaker :D )...I was like "OMG the DOOOOOGS! MOMMY!!!" :D :D

And Doom 1 and 2? eek!

Rogue 09-02-2006 10:17 PM

Movie is based on the game...

_r.u.s.s. 09-02-2006 10:25 PM

YAY! SILENT HILL MOVIE!! :Brain:
i didnt even know they r making it!

kajjj 10-02-2006 06:18 AM

Obscure - after half an hour of playing I tend to hear vices around me

This is the first movie based on a game that actually looks promising.
Curse you, Boll :tai:

gregor 10-02-2006 08:37 AM

Half life - Blue Shift. it's not really abandoned, but... when i started thinking hwo would it be like if you got caught alone liek that Barney (or what is his name) guy did.

And from abandoned ones it had to be Doom 2. because i played it without gamma correction the first time.

Geordy 10-02-2006 01:25 PM

Wolfenstein sounds: "Aargh! Mein Leben!"

Another World had a fantastic atmosphere. The intro was one of the best I ever saw in my lifetime.

Is there a PC version of Silent Hill 1?

Rogue 10-02-2006 01:43 PM

I don't think so...

But there are PSX emulators for PC. :D :D :D

Gelfo 10-02-2006 02:52 PM

I played the demo of obscure, I liked it a lot, but it didnt let you play for very long which was annoying. I've always meant to buy it, but it's a bit.. well.. obscure..

I also own Forbidden Siren, both Project Zeros, Clock Tower and The Thing ... but I've never got round to playing them. *Bows head in shame*

The Silent Hill Movie looks awesome... the town in it is loosely based on a village called Centralia somewhere in the USA that has been on fire for about 40 years.. I'll try find a link to it

Hmm...think it's this one >> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia%2C_Pennsylvania

duckpatch 11-02-2006 12:01 PM

Albion - When in 3D mode you get hell scared when a monster pops out of nowhere...!!

UnHoly 12-02-2006 06:59 PM

There are few games that make me scared:

-Silent Hill : this game is like "OMG! I don't want to play it anymore, take it from me":P I haven't finished it, someday I must try for the second time
-Thief: Mission in catacombs (the third one as I remember) and Return to the Haunted Cathedral are really nice
-Sanctuary was a bit scary in some moments
-The Suffering is also a nice scary game
-Blair Witch Project is also a cool scary game, espiacially the dream that your character have after first or second day, I don't remember, and the forest

When I was younger, Tomb Raider was a very scary game, those traps and lions suddenly popping out :D

PrejudiceSucks 12-02-2006 07:34 PM

System Shock 2 scared me the first time I played it so much that I didn't play it again for about a week.

Damn those horrible monkeys!

Oh and The Cradle from Thief : Deadly Shadows has to go here too.

Titan 13-02-2006 12:39 AM

Here is a video of a game that made atleast ONE person (on tape) scared..

http://www.youtube.com/p.swf?video_id=kKGx...DkKGxaol4qws%A8

(personal note: damn the camera-guy is mean)

gufu1992 13-02-2006 01:16 AM

OMG!
HIS parents are *content edited*(no real offence)
But come on - there is ESRB rating for cryed out loud!

iepeulas 13-02-2006 03:07 AM

Shivers made me jump a few times. If you got too close to an object when the spooky music was playing, a deamon would jump out and grab you...

Dino 13-02-2006 09:15 PM

Well, for me it's Silent Hill series, and F.E.A.R.

Oh, and Agatha Christie's: And Then There Were None isn't scary in true meaning of the word, but has a certain spooky atmosphere.

Don Andy 13-02-2006 09:38 PM

That reminds me....

Anyone of you ever played "I have no Mouth and I must Scream"?

It wasn't really scary, but it had a really, really, really, really moody atmosphere. One of the weirdest (and not in a negative way) games I ever played.
Imagine SHODAN becoming male and actually succeed in the whole reality bending thing. You get the idea.

Agatha Christie's: And Then There Were None

I love the book and film/s .. and I loved that old Amiga game 'clue' which I believe is a similar concept

This is another game I really want to get

Radiobuzz 14-02-2006 04:50 PM

I think that the only time I was truly scared was while playing Silent Hill 2.

/me can't wait for the movie to come out

EDIT:

Quote:

I did, it's from the same company that created DarkSeed. I think it's a funny and creepy game, but only if you don't mind all the bugs the game has, and some of the (very obscure) puzzles.

In the same line, I recommend Sanitarium. A really, really great game.

snake289 14-02-2006 05:56 PM

doom 3 was pertty scary indeed but silent hill 1 and 2 gave me the WILLYS LOL never competed them cos they were 2 creepy 2 continue playing...
