win98 11-01-2006 02:04 AM

Which one will it be

TheGiantMidgit 11-01-2006 02:52 AM

They all have their merits.... personally, I prefer the GC, but the PS2 is a close second. None are necessarily "better".

Lucullus 11-01-2006 04:56 AM

I voted on PC as you can emulate the consoles ;) And besides I'm into oldies so the newer consoles don't do it for me at all. Got a GC at home tho, but play more on SNES emulator and N64 than GC.

TheGiantMidgit 11-01-2006 05:01 AM

Yea.... Colecovision, Intellivision and Snes kick all manner of gluteus maximus.

Javaguy 11-01-2006 06:45 AM

PC for me. its upgradeable
personalisable
better graphics (often)
better variety of games (RTS, tycoon, ect)
you can play DOS games on it
you can do homework on it
and a whole bunch of other things!!

bruno 11-01-2006 09:56 AM

The pc is the best. :D

Reup 11-01-2006 11:20 AM

I mostly use the PC, but Nintento will allways get my console preference. I adore that little chubby Italian pizzaguy, especially when he's in a kart :D

Quintopotere 11-01-2006 11:20 AM

Obviously PC is better :D , but if I must buy a console, I prefer the GameCube :ok:

WaAn 11-01-2006 11:22 AM

Sorry, PC. Don't have any console

The Niles 11-01-2006 11:38 AM

I'm selling my PS2 right now. PC is enough for me now.

Ditto.

SirPeter 11-01-2006 02:00 PM

Consoles are to expensive and limitless.
Pc here obviously.

IHateSeph 11-01-2006 02:19 PM

I've always been told, an Xbox is a poor mans PC. Which in a sense it is.

Javaguy 11-01-2006 02:44 PM

oh when it does come to consoles I prefer nintendo ones to any others, yeah

efthimios 11-01-2006 05:44 PM

PC.

though for pure consoles I would say the Nintendo DS.

That's exactly why I got the XBox back then ^_^

Now I'm fine with my computer, but since the favourite console is asked here, I go for Gamecube. It just has all my favourite series, like Zelda, Metroid and, of course Super Smash Bros., which rocks ^_^

LeD 17-01-2006 02:00 PM

The PCS of today kick behind.

Consoles though...Playstation 2 is the best.

Huh huh huh they put behind.

Bobbin Threadbare 17-01-2006 04:34 PM

PC. You can easily emulate all those consoles.

kajjj 24-01-2006 06:25 PM

i also couldn't make up my mind... now i have them all...
and i still play oldies on my pc... :D

Allen Drak 25-01-2006 09:17 PM

PC an PS2. I play on PC. Last times only World of Warcraft. :D
But if my brother want to play on PC, i go and play on MY PS2. LOL
I play ther PS Games too, like Suikoden 2, Vargent Story, Front Mission 3 and of course my new PS 2 muck: "Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel".

moogle 25-01-2006 10:42 PM

Overall PC, counsels, PS2, it has FF, and actually good / inventive games, Nintendo...oh yay, more Mario, Zelda, and Metroid for the 20th time.

Zaffo 01-03-2006 03:05 AM

THE SEGA CD! i don't know why but i LOVE this console! The feel of it in term of harware design. And 16bits graphic + CD-rom suport it's just too GREAT! Sadly there were not many good game for it.

Kearnsy 01-03-2006 11:07 AM

I was a huge console buff a few years ago, but now I love PCs
there are just sooo many more things you can do.
more mods, more online, cheaper, more applications, more compatability!

On the other hand I loved (and love) all sorts of consoles and my gamecube is doing me proud right now.
If I have Super Smash bros, I am happy... that alone is worth the cost of the console...Im being serious too!

kajjj 01-03-2006 06:08 PM

I got XBOX 360 quite recently, and I must say it was worth every penny.
The graphics - awsome!
Unfortunately, there aren't too many games on it. But hopefuly, it will change soon along with the prices... :tomato:

Mara 01-03-2006 06:53 PM

there a game the game cube I want to play. Namely Naruto 4

but I have no game cube, but getting the game + the console + the freeloader = too expensive

If i buy the game i wont be able to emulate on my pc right ?

Afaik emulating GC/PS2/XBox on the computer is pretty much impossible for now. Yeah, there are a few emulators, but they mainly play demos, PD-Roms or a few specified games. And considering that a simple PS game can slow down your comp pretty much you would need a real high tech machine to run such a game.

Sly 01-03-2006 07:57 PM

my TI99/4a :D

Danny252 01-03-2006 08:00 PM

The PC, of course.

that's what I thought.

So much for it. I'm not going to buy a console for just one game. Maybe they'll make a pc version someday.

Gelfo 02-03-2006 10:17 AM

NES, by far

As TGM said though, no console is best, as it's all about the games.

Blood-Pigggy 02-03-2006 07:31 PM

PC isn't really a console is it?
I mean, it can be a gaming system, but it ain't a console.

I voted G-Cube, if you really want a "Which Game Console Is Better Thread" maybe you should leave out the PC altogether, there are always arseholes who come on and ramble about how the PC is better than sex.

kajjj 02-03-2006 08:44 PM

My favourite console is missing. Therefore I do not vote.
But if I had to choose one, I would go with PS2.

Is that the Playstation 2?
It's there on the list. The 2nd option. ;)

Kearnsy 03-03-2006 03:18 AM

If your a nintendo console buff, maybe the revolution is a good idea.
should be cheap and apperantly you can play all of the previous nentendo titles by downloading them!
Pretty cool!

Yes, I know
I simply meant I do not think the best consoles are in this poll. PS2 is the best choice here, but not the best choice ever.

Currently the idea of playing games with a remote control doesnt turn me on too good..

Blood-Pigggy 03-03-2006 09:11 PM

It's not a remote control :P
It's an actual controller, you even have the thumbstick and everything.

rlbell 05-03-2006 01:15 AM

Bah! Some people have no sense of history. The best game console is the Atari2600. Although the graphics and sounds are primitive, the games are still fun and someone released a new version of the console includes many of the original games without the annoyance of changing between cartridges. It may be the poor man's console, but it is just as fun now as it was thirty years ago.

Iron_Scarecrow 05-03-2006 10:22 AM

I was in the shop the other day playing a GC on display with a friend, so much fun playing Mario Tennis, we're considering going halves on the console and a few of the Mario Party games and Mario Tennis so we can have late night gaming parties... with pizza.

Doc Adrian 06-03-2006 02:42 AM

I prefer the playstation to relax because I am used to the control, but also like my NES, SNES, Atari, Sega, Genesis, ...and well you get the idea

I like the computer too of course, but for a pure console...got to stick with my Playstation =)

ReamusLQ 06-03-2006 02:52 AM

I'm addicted to Halo 2

Well that still doesn't deny the fact that these consoles are much more fun than an Atari 2600

_M@gno 21-03-2006 06:43 PM

My dear Genesis isn't in the list...
PC is the best choice... (Playing Quake 2 with a playstation is so boring)

PD: "Pc (If you don't use game consoles0" WOW watch out when you type...

The Good Soldier Švejk 22-03-2006 06:10 PM

PC.

Because you have better controle as with a Gamepad-Alike X-Box or PS2 ond so on, controller!!!!

Stebbi 23-03-2006 04:24 PM

Well Game cube i like nintendo more than everything i mean just look at my sig it's so true.

The Good Soldier Švejk 24-03-2006 06:20 AM

So far as i know Nintendo has no Submarine Games........................... LOL .

Iron_Scarecrow 26-03-2006 04:30 AM

Does the Gamecube play DVDs?

TheGiantMidgit 26-03-2006 04:43 AM

No man, gamecube is strictly for games. We gamecuber's are purified like that.

Iron_Scarecrow 26-03-2006 04:50 AM

Well that complicates things a little.

I have been doing a make over of my room lately (I have a coffee table in my room... awesome), and still have some stuff to do and buy, and was considering buying a gaming console, but I also want to be able to watch DVDs without people disturbing me. I'm leaning towards the Gamecube more but I was hoping it would play DVDs, now if I did get one I have to buy a seperate DVD player.

moogle 26-03-2006 05:39 AM

Psssst, get Ps2.

Or better yet, wait and get PS3

Iron_Scarecrow 26-03-2006 05:57 AM

You put up a great arguement there moogle.

Besides I don't have the money for a PS3. I've 700 bucks and I'm buying a TV and a desk to put that TV on, maybe some shelves, and then a console. With some money left over to contribute to a DS Lite.

moogle 26-03-2006 06:25 AM

My arguement rocked, but yeah...
Hmmm, i would still go with the PS2, if your looking to save money over all its good, Nintendo is OK, not bad, but not great, and with the Ps2 you at least get backwards compatability (depends on what model tho!), DVD player, and online, if you like that kinda stuff (I don't, not for counsels, but who knows)

Beleive me here when I tell you: do yourself a favor and buy yourself a separate DVD player. They are very cheap anyways.

What do you do if you want to watch DVD but you have your console up and running in a game you can't save rightaway? What about you want to go play elsewhere, how will you be able to see a DVD at your room without your console there? What will happen when you'll realise that playing DVD's on your PS2 or 3 actually damage the reading arm and that you can't do whatever you wish because the console now decide now and again not to be able to switch to the mode you want it to?

You should ask yourself those kind of questions before even considering buying a PS console just for the argument of the DVD player. Just like playing over the internet, a console is not made for doing that and you are venturing into heap of troubles for nothing while you can do easily otherwise.

Iron_Scarecrow 27-03-2006 08:09 AM

You made some very good points there.

Rogue 27-03-2006 10:13 AM

Why this game console is not in the list?

http://www.gp2x.com/product/img/gp2xf100.gif

kajjj 27-03-2006 12:08 PM

How many people here actually own it?

Rogue 27-03-2006 12:31 PM

Probably not many.

I don't even own it yet, but I'm looking to buy one.

There are nice DOSBox and ScummVM emulators made for it., as well as most of other 8 and 16 bit consoles/computers plus arcades. Add to this option to play media (photos, videos and MP3. :)

I believe its worth buying.
