Oh yeah baby....

hunterreborn 27-10-2005 09:13 AM

does anyone have the manual - i load it and just get asked for codes

Sebatianos 27-10-2005 01:45 PM

It asks for them but you don't have to answer anything. The game will work.

magnetboy 27-10-2005 02:14 PM

it is an excellent game. incredible 3d engine for its time, really.
i used to have it on the amiga. does this version still have a huge supply of sound effects for chalking the cue up?

i hope so.

Sebatianos 27-10-2005 04:02 PM

I'll put it this way, it's not the sound that I found fascinating about this game, although it doesn't spoil any of the fun.

used to have this for the amiga as well - great game. Do the snooker balls still make little animaions, and do you get a 'pixel fly' flying around on screen? heh

Tranquillo 27-10-2005 06:35 PM

Hi everyone,
I've tried loading this game and have the same problem as above. I get asked for a password and I can't seem to get past it.
Any ideas??

It's all written in the review you know...

@Guest - and the answer is also given - the game is cracked, so you don't need the manual!

Tranquillo 27-10-2005 07:24 PM

Thanks for quick response. Am I blind as well as daft? I have read the review over again and find no reference to unlocking it. Sorry folks but am I missing something here?

Well that part isn't mentioned in the review. But to unlock it (to bypass the security code question even without the manual) press ENTER (just don't type anything).

Tranquillo 27-10-2005 11:37 PM

Sorry, Sebatianos, tried that and still I get the "fail" message after 3 attempts. I'm going to bed now. Back in the morning. Thanks for your help so far. :wall:

Sebatianos 28-10-2005 04:41 AM

That's really strange. I never encountered that problem before (and didn't even need to crack the game myself). Are you using the file we havgot here? You need to download it, extract it and play it in either real DOS or DOSBox: the game is not compatible with Windows XP (maybe that's the problem?).

Tranquillo 28-10-2005 09:32 AM

Yes, I downloaded it from here and I'm using XP but running the game in dosbox.
I can'y understand it.

mak 28-10-2005 08:55 PM

Hi,

download the dosbox 6.3 from this same site and run the game from here.
There are instruction etc to get this set up.

Just a quick question, I played this game about 15 years ago and I know there is a cheat where you can view the flight lines of the cue and object ball (easy to pot option  ). Does anyone know what it is?

thanks

Gelfo 28-10-2005 11:35 PM

:) oh man this game is great.

Easily beats the modern 'World Championship Snooker' series

hunterreborn 29-10-2005 08:48 AM

I found a solution to it needing a code. Run it from dosbox using the file "snooker.bat"

There are .exe files there that are not cracked.

another player 24-12-2005 11:53 PM

I'm also having the same problem- this requires a codeword. It gives you
3 attempts and then the screen locks up with coloured bands (obviously
its protection). Pressing return/enter just gives you: 2 attempts left, 1 attempt left etc..

Tis a shame, I used to love this on the amiga- especially the smiley snooker balls complete with flies buzzing round :-(

Guest 24-12-2005 11:56 PM

Oopp- scuse me the post above mine does actually run it :-)

Snooker BAT

Cheers :-)

wikum 16-03-2006 11:54 AM

Any further advice? I've got the same issue here- it asks for passwords and I cannot provide them. I searched for a copy the manual on t'internet, but to no avail.

Pity, I remember it being a good old game.

Guest 16-03-2006 12:16 PM

same idiocy. snooker.bat works- cheers!

tjeppen 19-05-2006 09:49 PM

if you can't be bothered with snooker burtlike pool, get an Amiga emulator and find archer macleans pool ' don't download the rom if you don't own the original game :bye:

i'm not sure if its what you mean but if my memory serves me correctly if you right click the help button it automatically lines up the next shot for you with the correct power and spin. there was also a cheat to get the computer to hit a 147 break for you and you could just sit back and watch it at work but i can't remember what it was. it didn't always manage the maximum either :)
