Hey guys :ok: I have a quest for you. ^^ Last year I bought my mother a Gamecube, because she had seen my Ex. play Animal Crossing, and wanted to play it herself. She loved the game, and got bored with it, so I told her about The Sims. That weekend she bought it, but thought it was a little too frantic and fast-paced for her tastes. Well, She and I took a trip to EB Games, and we asked the guy what kind of game she liked. Their responce was Harvest Moon. I bought her Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, and Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town. (So she could play at work too). She loved it, absolutely loved it. However she's been playing it for a long time, and is once again becoming bored of it...So, I ask a favor of you all:
My mother has a GBA, PS2, and a Gamecube. She enjoys games that are slow-paced, happy, not very challenging, pretty graphics, and ones that last a long time. She has tried and liked: Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon and she had tried and disliked: The Sims Does anyone know of any GBA, PS2, or Gamecube games that you think my mother would enjoy? |

I'm not sure whether I should be happy or sad that someone's mother has more gaming hardware than I do.

For the GC, Pikmin (and Pikmin 2) are wonderful, charming strategy games that everyone should love. Spyro, Mario Sunshine, Zoocube and Zelda might also qualify. Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles is absolutely gorgeous and quite long but amazingly dull in single player.
|
The Gamecube... Winnie The Pooh's Rumbly Tumbly Adventure is quite a good game, it's slow paced, and it's good for all ages.
Otherwise I might suggest Mario Power: Tennis or Pikmin as Beef suggested... For the GBA - Warioware Twisted Donkey Kong Country 1 + 2 Kirby And The Amazing Mirrior (Highly reccommended) Otherwise just search around on Gamespot. |
Thanks for the opionions guys :D I'm not a console gamer myself, in fact the PS2 and GBA were mine, and I gave them to her out of lack of intrest. So far I think she'll like Pikmin, Zoocube (Excellent, I forgot about that one completely) and Mario Tennis. My next door neighbor has Crystal Chronicles, and offered to give it to me, saying it was horrid for a final fantasy game, but ok for a regular game. My mom might like it though because I could play with her.
:ok: Thanks a lot everyone heheh. Keep the comments coming, if anyone has anymore. I love my mom for being a gaming mom :D |

That game is great, it actually does better as a Final Fantasy game, but I definetly suggest multiplayer. |
I've heard nothing but good things 'bout Katamari Damacy, which seems to also come close to what your mom seems to like.
|
San andres?? Actually friends of mineral town was a game I was addicted to for a while. Umm warioware is a fun fun game but maybe to fast for your moms taste.
|
Myst III: Exile?
It's definately slow paced. |
Yeh, Myst might be a good idea. I think it'd be good to start her from the first one heh.
|
Kon-Tiki is absolutely correct. Katamari Damashi is the wackiest game on PS2. It's really cute but yet easy-going.
|
I'll look into that one too. Seems a bit too wierd for her though? Mebbie, I'll let her try it out. Guys at EB like to let us try the games out in the store before we buy 'em :D
|
Myst = No-no for mommies.
It's more likely that she'll give up from frustration early in the beggining. Why don't you let her play LucasArts adventure games if you want a point and click? |

There are a few LucasArts style ones on there.
Why not the new Broken Sword games? |
Get Bloodrayne! :ok:

What's with the FF? Crystal Chronicles would be nice if you play it with her. |
Omfg, Crystal Chronicles SUCKS, thats not even an FF game...
|
True it is different in nature than typical Final Fantasy game, and with the added addition of being an action rpg rather than turn based. But I have heard good things about that game for the GCN.
|
PS2: Katamari, definetly
maybe some of the "novelty" games, like DDR Shadow of the Colossus (I only include this because it's one of those games that no-one should miss. Seriously. Wow. It's beautiful. I don't think she'd like it though.) GC: Zoocube (Cutesy, rather unique) Zelda WW (if she doesn't mind the fighting) Chibi Robo (housecleaning Sim) RE4 (I'm totally kidding) Mario party titles (if you guys are willing to play too) maybe Karaoke Revolution (hopefully, they choose some decent tracks. I wouldn't mind having a drunk, Sinatra singing contest) Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (very cutesy, strategic RPG with some very fun elements) Luigi's Mansion GBA: Wario Ware, definetly. THE game for the casual gamer. Broken Sword (if she likes puzzle/adventures) if you can find it, Mario Picross. It's like, the definitive old person video game. Kirby games |

Er, it's not even close Moogle. I highly doubt you've ever played it, it's actually quite a fantastic game, and it's a amazing multiplayer experience. |
I'd recommend Legend of Mana. Very pretty graphics, wonderfully charming little stories, and not at all difficult. The only hang-up is that the world-building system is pretty random, and the game experience is much smoother with a walkthrough. You can still get quite a few of the stories with no walkthrough, but it won't be nearly all of them. There's also a pet-raising system and an orchard, so there is a little bit of the Harvest Moon feel there (I'm guessing, never played a HM game myself).
Katamari Damacy might be a bit fast-paced for her, wonderful as it is. The first Spyro game is not a bad idea at all. It's a platformer, but it's very easy-going, one of the least difficult 3D platformers I've played, and there's plenty of collecting to do. And if she has a serviceable PC, something like Curse of Monkey Island would probably be great. |
