Does anyone else detest their job like I do mine?

If so then let me know, maybe we can laugh at our burdens.

Danny252 14-10-2005 04:06 PM

I have school...

Vinnyq12 14-10-2005 04:07 PM

Well enjoy it while it lasts.

Toxik 14-10-2005 04:13 PM

i'm still in school and already I hate it!what will I do once i will get job?

Apocalypse Dude 14-10-2005 04:15 PM

I actually enjoy my job... Is that bad????

Vinnyq12 14-10-2005 04:16 PM

@toxik

Depends what you like to do.
I go to the bar a lot.

Course not, as long as "the job is a part of your life" and not "your life is part of the job"

What is your job if you don't mind me asking?

A. J. Raffles 14-10-2005 04:48 PM

Vinny, could you please try and use the edit button more often? Clicking 'edit' doesn't take any more time than clicking 'add reply', trust me...;)

I'm still at university, and I quite like it, actually.

swiss 14-10-2005 05:21 PM

I love my job!

I made my hobby to my job and now I needed a new hobby - that brought me here ...

I second all of that, with a bit of car insurance call centre-ing thrown in - 's ok, they pay well and I can sit inside, although that's less appealing when the air con/heating never works.

Abi79 14-10-2005 06:04 PM

I hate my "job". Tommorow is Saturday but i have to go to school because the school got flodded tuesday and we need to recover the lessons. *meep*

Spoonman 14-10-2005 06:13 PM

Working at a call-center is the Ultimate Evil, brrr

I used to work at a one hour photo service, that's kinda fun. But nowadays I'm having a full job working at myself, which is both good and bad (pays 0, unfortunately :P).

swiss 14-10-2005 06:34 PM

the worst job I ever made was for a textile factory. I did it for some money while having holidays.

two weeks sitting in those tubes for the air condition and cleaning them. I have never ever seem soooo much dust and spiders and bees and flys and whhhhahhahahahahaaaaaaa all my life ... but they payed very well ...

Danny252 14-10-2005 06:37 PM

What century do YOU live in? We got rid of that stuff here like.. 200 years ago..

omg 14-10-2005 06:52 PM

call centers can get pretty downer but compared to a lot of the jobs out there its ok.
i have to call people up and ask them questions about stuff. its like telesales minus the sales part. can be a bit grinding because its not nice annoying people by calling them at the wrong times, like when they have had a death in the family or somming.
a lot easier than selling windows though..or really hot kitchens, factorys,
i know people who have spent years killing animalls. i think that is maybe one of the worst out there.
maybe.

@danny
i know some industrial cleaners man that is hard and they have to deal with stuff that exists in any century i:e dirt, that lovely offshoot of a lot of industrial processes, and belive it or not there are still some small places in this country where they actually make things. we cant all work in offices......

Yup. Killed chickens for two weeks. It sucked.

I kinda like my current job, it's shift work and I have to work weekends sometimes but it's kinda relaxed and nice :)

Pays muck tho :ranting:

Oooh.. Censorship ;)

Sebatianos 14-10-2005 07:21 PM

Well, my job has some downsides, but I guess every job does. Apart from that I'm really happy with my job.

Teaching kids can be nerve-wrecking sometimes, but there are so many great things (just this week one of the classes welcomed me with a blackboard full of smiles :D :ok: :) :P ^_^ . That was really sweet.

And I love the hours I have this school year (I start at 7 on Mondays and Wednesdays - chess club; Othewise I start at 8 and finish at 12:20 - except on Fridays when I finish at 11:30). And the school is just a 10 minuts walk away - so HELL YEAH, if I wouldn't like it this year, there's no job I'd like.
The kids are well behaved (at leat well enough) and the other teachers at school are interesting, so I got to meet interesting people and have a lot to talk about. I'm just starting to work on a script for a movie we'll be making...
Life is good! :ok: :Brain: B) :king: :guitar:

MdaG 14-10-2005 07:27 PM

I'm a senior masters undergraduate in engineering. Hopefully I'll be ready to do my thesis next autumn. I've applied for one at Ericsson. The task is to create a realtime code generator for various radio bases. I hope I get it :D

You gotta be good.back in elementary school,we drew many things on the blackboard, but nothing like smileys... :D

Danny252 14-10-2005 07:49 PM

Oddly, even though most people say they hate them, Geography and French are the 2 most silent lessons I have. Barely anyone speaks.. :P
Meanwhile, in maths, our teacher can't shut us up. She stops for 2 milliseconds and we talk :P

punch999 14-10-2005 11:00 PM

I already started my job a bit I do websites for people usually free but if you offer to pay hehe. One lady even payed me ten american dollars a hour for her site. If you arent farmilar with american cash thats pretty damn good for a kid. Also Im getting some really good but cheap computers so I can start a video game dedicated server buisness for shoutcasts and other certain items of interest. Its fun because I am able to do what I like and there isnt much work to it

lethe 15-10-2005 05:30 AM

I wake up at 6am, to walk 30 minutes downtown to a pickup point. I arrive at the construction site and start working at 8 am and finish at 7pm. Like it isn't enough to be lifting heavy things all day, I still have a mental discharge from the boss who's constantly screaming at the thing we don't do wrong. :ranting: I'm then left at the dropping point at around 8pm (that it's the same as the pickup), from where I have to walk back home (about 1 hour, it's harder to climb  ). After arriving home after 9pm, I still have to take a bath, cook, eat dinner, get the stuff ready for the next day, as meals and cloth. I go to bed at around 00:30. And I'm again waking up at 6am to work in a saturday... :tai: If the hard work doesn't kill me, I'm sure the lack of sleep will.

On the other side... It made me appreciate sundays like never before.

Kearnsy 15-10-2005 12:58 PM

Well I go to school. (MEH... it aint so bad)

Coach kids tennis during the holidays. (LOVE)

Work at a super market during the week and week end. (HATE)

Monday.. Saturday.. Doesn't really make a difference when you spend your weekend doing 12 hour shifts :P

Waiting for Wednesday btw ;)

Vinnyq12 17-10-2005 10:42 AM

Good to see that a lot of people like there jobs but also good to see that some hate their's.
I've had a couple of jobs in my lifetime:

-PaperBoy (its nothing like the game, and also sore on your back)
-Waiter (Good tips until you spill a pot full of hot Tea on some poor fella)
-Shop Assistant (Cleaning, Stocking Shelves and giving people the wrong change)
-DJ (Good money, Good Women and you get to listen to your type of music while getting drunk and being paid for it)
-Call Centre (Mind numbing job to do with mortgages, could talk to you for a lifetime about mortgages :wall: )
-Software Testing ( :zzzzz: :help: Oh no no no but I have to do it if I want my Beng)

Monday is here, and another week to struggle through - Oh What a World

Yep, and it's great fun, actually. Mustn't let any of my tutors know I spend my free time hanging around computer game forums, though.
One day I will find a way to combine both hobbies, though, and write an adventure game called PamelaQuest - What Price Virtue?:P

Edit: Unfortunately only people who were forced to read Richardson will get the joke, so I'll never have a huge fanbase... Oh well.

Tito 21-10-2005 09:26 PM

Right now I ended university (business administration) and by now I have two job offerings. Accountant, which would be good in terms of experience and money, and could give me lots of opportunities in the future, or barman in a pub near my house, in which i have spent most of my weekends and money, but being paid for listening to the music I love (lets say Hendrix and Thin Lizzy), getting free drinks for my friends and even myself and meeting lots of nice and drunken people. Guess which one will I choose? :sneaky:

PrejudiceSucks 23-10-2005 02:24 PM

Anyone who says that school is fun needs some corrective drugs. Post haste.

I have a 'week off' and I've been set seven pieces of coursework to do over it. I'm supposed to be doing some science coursework at the moment, but I really can't be arsed.

A. J. Raffles 23-10-2005 02:29 PM

Oh, I agree with you that school is perfectly horrible, Prejudice. University's still fun, though, because you at least get to choose your subject.

Get used to it? Why? At university at least he'll be able to pick a subject he likes. Of course there's no way of knowing he won't end up doing a dull job afterwards, but at least those three years should be a bit more fun.

No ! :D
What i meant was that :
1) School is OK. It provides the only form of knowledge most people get before being brainwashed by TV and consummers society in it's evershining glory.
2) It's having to go where you don't want to go, wake up when you'd rather sleep, being bossed around, etc, that really sucks.
3) You'd better get used to it as a big part of your life will (probably) be spent doing things you don't enjoy and/or care for, and being bossed around one way or another. :sneaky:

But there's still room enough for lots of cool things. :Brain:

PrejudiceSucks 23-10-2005 09:46 PM

@Prejudice: So where do you want to go, then? Seriously, though, if you already think it's going to be horrible, maybe you should consider something less well-paid, but which you might enjoy a bit more. You'll spend a major part of your life working, you know...

omg 23-10-2005 10:47 PM

there are people out there who work vocations, and you seem to be aiming for something, so before you commit you should be totaly certain that you are commiting to the right thing. its probably better that you choose the right path now rather than finding yourself years down the line and regretting stuff.....

PrejudiceSucks 23-10-2005 11:16 PM

Actually, I have no idea whatsoever what I'm going to do. That's why I'm probably going to do German, Media Studies, Maths and Chemistry, just so that pretty much every option is open.

I'm considering something in journalism, but I'm not really sure at all. I could probably do teaching as well (I'm OK with people, not that it's seemingly a requirement) or something totally different.

Lonely Vazdru 25-10-2005 08:02 AM

But you have balls to make fun of this. I do approve, but if things get as bad as it seems, you'll have a hard time keeping that signature as you'll be assaulted by self righteous people who will take it badly. Count on me to defend you (on that point) if things turn sour. :Titan:

probably explains why i know so much about games! :D

but i don't know why they worry even if i don't pay attension in class I still get almost top score!!

I always do homework and never go to detentions. Teachers generally ignore me.

All I can say is this. If you are going to use half a bloody roll of toilet paper to wipe your behind, do a preliminary flush.
