It was the first FPS that I actualy finished, back when it was released. I always liked it more than Doom and Quake series. The original cd is back in Greece, so...
So, after years I installed and played Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition. Didn't expect much. I was so wrong. The game is just amazing! Even after all these years! Sure strategy, rpgs etc can be great, but not FPS games! This one is like, wow! I played a bit the first level (till I met my first pig with a shotgun, where I lost...and had forgotten to save the game LOL. Apart from the graphics which look fine, and the gameplay which is EXCELLENT, I was surprised with the sound, the sound effects are still very good, and the sound of your little gun is better than any other sound of a pistol/handgun in any other FPS as far as I remember. What a game! :guns: |
yah this game is sweet!
i used to play this non stop. I even played the co-op with a friend + multiplayer (N64) for many nights on end! you have great taste efthimios! :ok: |
never let a friend borrow this.... cause now I have an ex-friend from now way out of town with no hope of getting it back.... guess I can't pick this up anywhere either...
|
I remember back in the days being able to shoot any lesser ennemies only with my Desert Eagle with ease...
Ahhh, the time spent on the multiplayer map Warzone... Sadly, they don't make such good games anymore. |
once i played this game so long my eyes turned red and i started vomiting
so now i dont like this game as i used to (same with starcraft-playing it 16 hours with my friend on multiplayer) |

I enjoyed playing it. Especially loved the wisecracks, such as when I lobbed a pipe bomb at 3 piggies and blew them apart, Duke says "heh heh heh, what a mess!"
They packed that game with everything. Sure wish they'd get to a sequal. I just got finished playing the FEAR demo! WICKED darn game I've ever seen! A MUST. Duke Nukem nowadays should be on a scale such as this. |

now i know too its dangerous, and if i start thinking i should try it again i just look at my cousin(addicted to CS-map assault) |
I loved to play Duke Nukem 3D... I still play it when I got the time. Does anybody know something about the next Duke Nukem??? I haven't heard fresh news about it
|
Yeah, Duke Nukem Forever is scaring me, no one knows if it's been cancelled or not, going to 3D Realm's website brings up "In Progress" I'm like... whoa.
|
i believe its in progress from 1996? or 98?
anyway its too long for me to care. |
Duke 3d is a cool game, but it can't beat Doom and Quake... Id Software is still the 3d shooter king for me....
|
The best thing in PC DN3D is the awesome level editor. Aaaahh.....
I have also played N64 version of this game. It had a Duke-Match against PC. |

OK...so.....believe it or not I am stuck.... I am in the night club and killed the aliens there but now what? I have searched the building as much as I could but for the life of me I can't remember what to do next. Very embarrasing. Anyone remembers?
Duke Nukem Forever I have a feeling (and just that) that it will come out some time next year. It looks like they are sticking to the latest engine this time. |
Yeah, but for how long... everytime a new engine comes along the start to rebuild it around that engine....

I believe you could jump on one of the dancing girl's plateau's and you could then jump backstage, but I'm not sure it's been ages ago since I last played Duke 3d
|

This and Worms were both new when I was visiting my family overseas...I came home and got em both. I love Duke though to this day
|
On my old x86 I liked to edit the user.con to allow a lot og pipebombs and tripbombs to be carried at once, start a new game on some level (usually it was E1L1), kill off all the monsters and then enter cheats to get god mode and then enter an all items cheat.
Then I was setting tripbombs and pipebombs all around. The nearest vicinity got really criss-crossed with laser beams, a literal explosive playground. |
Was I enjoyed most about the game were Duke's lines... like:
''Nobody steals our chicks and lives'' '' S*** happens (after he steps on some)'' ''It's time to kick a*s*s and chew bubblegum...and I'm all out of gum!'' '' Your a*s*s, your face, what's the difference?'' :D |
personally I enjoy Postal dude's
Mmm,smells like chicken..after you burned somebody |
Duke = A lazy bastard.
Seriously, most people like him, but how many lines did the developers rip from movies? |
Well why not? It gives plenty of entertainment in some non-brutal moments. Must go kill, kill....
|
Because those are Bruce Campbell's quotes, along with some other B-grade actors no one cares about.
Cabel from Blood had nice quotes I think. |
Did you expect a shoot em up game to have interesting, original and thoughtful phrases that the game makers came up with? That stuff can take a while to come up with, especially if they need to be catchy.
|
Not really, you just need a substandard notion of stupidity to accomplish it.
|
Stupidity can make thoughtful, original and interesting phrases? Wow, talk about a messed up planet LOL
|
Uh yeah.
"Groovy" "I kick a.s.s for the lord" "Tasty meat makes me hungry!" |
Wow, you think those are thoughtful? LOL
I think Duke's ripped phrases are better than that :D |
NOTHING is better than "I kick a.s.s. for the lord!"
|
Well, I suppose its better than:
I am going to kill you because I am paid to :bleh: "Struggle If you must, dead one. I do not mind working for my money..." heres a good quote that is similar, anyone know where it comes from? |
Lots of people don't even know who Bruce Cambell is, and I know many others who saw Army of Darkness and couldn't even get famous lines from past generals in that movie.
Give em a break, it's just entertainment. Not history. |
