Usually, when I'm on Abandonia.com, I get an error saying that IE has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

I've got this problem on Google too after I see 80 links (4 pages), but there I also receive a message saying that there is an internal error. Then it recommends me to save my work and restart the computer. Could somebody help me fix this ? :help:

Did you scan computer for spyware/adware/viruses, they might be the cause of this problem...
Also I would recommend you to get Firefox, and check out if the problems persists...

You should also try to empty your IE temporary folder. It might help.

If You insist on staying with IE (I dissuade You from doing so...) try installing recent patches from the windows update service.

Firefox rules. I'm sorry I waited so long to check it out.

So does Opera.

Anyway, be shure to run the adware-remover ATLEAST once a week, and preferebly combine it with a good virus-program like AVG (it's free).
I trust you have a firewall also, if not, get Kerio Personal Firewall (also free) ASAP!

Shure.. those things will drain some RAM and CPU-power, but nothing compared to what adware/virus might do over time.

Abi79 19-06-2005 09:44 AM

Until now I ran the adware-remover once a month, but this thing is going to change .

BTW, I don't know if AVG is that good because I had some viruses which I only detected with BitDefender Professional 8 (not free but I've got the registration code :bleh: ). This antivirus also has got a firewall, an antispam module and a program which scans accesed files, all incorporated in it ! :Brain:

If you really want to be safe, edit your IE security options to only allow the minimum of what you use. Set Flash and Java off per default, a LOT of malware enter your computer that way because there is next to no security on those things.

The second best way not to get malwares is to avoid low reputation sites. If you are the kind of person who likes to go see some chicks naked on the net or search for Warez then I recommend that you run your programs daily...

Also don't forget that even if you block 100% of what try to enter your computer via the internet, some malware can be installed along some other programs or games you install yourself. My last personnal case of this was Civilization III Complete.

Abi79 20-06-2005 04:09 AM

I don't visit any warez sites(because I've got many games) or chicks sites(because I'm too young - 13 years old), but I've got a question: are Firefox and Opera that good ?

Tulac 20-06-2005 08:56 AM

Yes they are, Firefox is free, Opera isn't (unless you want ads)

Havell 20-06-2005 09:56 AM

I can't speak for Opera, but I can say that security isn't Firefox's only advantage over IE.

Abi79 20-06-2005 06:09 PM

I think I'll try Firefox if everybody says it's good.

Edit: I've tried Firefox and I can say it's very good. As Evad says, Firefox rules ! :ok:
