This game is a truly unique adventure... there was a similar game called ROME *something* A.D.... I don't remeber the title exactly, but it was great too. Also, these games are very non-linear and it's rare in an adventure game.

The other game is called Rome AD 92, you can get it on HotU

Thanks to ReamusLQ and Kosta for this one. This is actually a pretty good game, although I think the predecessor (Rome 92 A.D. that others have mentioned) is better. Maybe we'll get that one next.

I played Robin Hood. It's really cool. I once managed to get into the castle and shoot the Sheriff, but I lost as the townspeople didn't like me.

man! I played this game alot on my Amiga 500. It was great!

Way too short...
Ended it in just one hour.
Killed sheriff, got high charisma, Will Scarlet, Marian, the Bishop and Little John too.
Didn't help the dragon nor the swan.

14 years ago it was really much more difficult for me!

I had this on the Amiga.

Not a bad game, but Rome was better I think.

***Anyhow, on the Amiga you used to be able to run straight into the castle at the start of the game - just after intro and before the gates close - and kill the sheriff in 5 seconds flat.***

If you're not going to cheat, there's far too many ways to bodge this game for my liking. You can get right to the end, then make a mistake and you have to restart.

It is a short game though, so it's not too much of a hassle.

This game's great. Used to play it a LOT when I was a kid.

It's just a little too easy. Especially after you help the dragon.

There's one way to not loose the savegame or not make errors, and doesn't involve "cheating" or hacking:

- Play
- Save (game will quit)
- create a backup copy of file STATUS.DTA (it's in main directory)
- launch game again

When you die, or when u do something u don't like, just quit the game and copy the backup in main directory.

Cheat: Give coins to peasant, but run away b4 the peasant comes near to you. Run to find another peasant, give the coins. That means u get a hero meter boast, giving coins to the poor twice.

Just a guest here, but I downloaded the game and it wants a password before I play. Erm, Did I miss something here? ... I didn't see a helpful Readme file included.

Yes, it doesn't take very long to "win". You can just sneak into the castle and assassinate the sheriff from there when he's out making an announcement, as someone implied. I thought Rome wasn't as good somehow, Robin had more humor in it and it was much more relaxed than Rome. I, too, had it on my Amiga 500 and I played it a lot. 'Twas interesting to watch the changing of seasons and how the nuns kept expanding the monastery (not to mention the graveyard and how they held little funerals there). I still play the game sometimes, it's brilliant (but needs smoother controls).

To take the thorn out of the dragons paw, All you have to do is walk up to it.( Its much easier to do that if you use the keyboard controls which are ASZX.) And the Heart button makes Robin run at the expense of some of his health.

Ha. Not bad. As soon as I started I killed a guy with my bow & arrow and when the head guy said to hang me, so before I reached the hanging site I took my sword out and fought, but I was killed. Ah well. It was fun tho

-How are you trying to run the game? DOSBox?
-What happens if you try to run the game?

Hi, I'm just a guest, but I loved this game back in my Amiga days, playing it again now, but dont know how to get the guards to come out of the castle (I killed the sherriff and lost my habit in the castle!), and dont know how to take the thorn out of the dragon's paw (how did you know it has one?), I walk up to it and it just eats me!

Also... no sign of Will Scarlet yet!

I too love this game. So many memories! I started playing it again. Now lets see if I can help anyone.

1) I don't remember where I got this game so I'm not sure if its the same one you got here. I'm using windows xp and I don't have "dos box" or anything else. When the game starts, I press "2" for "PC Speaker". Then for the code, I type "hero". Don't ask me why, tried it once and it worked for me... :) Hope the same goes for you.

2) For the dragon, I knew about the thorn in its paw by talking to it. To remove it, you gotta walk in its direction with the arrows, once it tells you to remove it. Its a bit tricky.

3) Will Scarlet joins you after you save him from being hanged. He looks like any other guy. Once you save him he thanks you and joins you. Then he changes his clothes and gives you the horn.

4) Someone asked about the last icon or gift. They're magic mushrooms. You can use them to resurrect someone before they are buried. They're found in random places on the map just once. Once you pick them up, they grow elsewhere. They're white and in sort of a circle. You should be able to see them. Two of the places I can remember where they sometimes grow are near the dragon's cave and near the wizard's house. To pick them up press the "steal" icon. Robin calls them "toadstools".

5) As for the money, I don't know any other way besides stealing. You can also get the Merry Men to steal for you. Besides the merchant, you can rob Friar Tuck on his way back to the monastry only once. That's all I know!

6) To the guy asking about getting in the castle without the cloak; try getting Friar Tuck to enter. The gates should open for him.

Ah I've got the same problem as well. I think it has something to do with the latest version of DOSBOX , cos all these guys who posted previously probably played the game on the previous version of DOSBOX. Or maybe I'm just being neurotic here....

No, you are not neurotic, some games have some problems with the new DOsbox, to play this game, used the oldest version of Dosbox. :cheers:

Not oldest. Just the next newest version before the current one, so in this case you might want to try 0.63 or (if that won't work) 0.61.

Anyone knows where toget a walkthrough for the similar game called Rome: pathway to power, aka: rome ad 92?

I downloaded this game a while ago...loved the humour in it, but the Save Function was a bit strange and it took me a while to figure out how it worked (You can only restore if you haven't died. I think. If anyone knows how to get around this, or if I'm just plain wrong, tell me). Awesome game, I have to say. There were lots of places to explore, lots of things to do, even if you didn't have to do all of them to win the game.

To get past the copy protection just press ENTER. If you type a word it doesn't work.

The game doesn't run to well on DOS-box. Run it straight out of windows and select "PC Speaker" for sound, and it should work just fine.

ah robin hood! i remember getting this game for my humble Amiga 500+

absolutely loved this game, played it non stop for months but don't think i ever actually completed it!

i remember having a whole page of cheats for this game, some were really weird, like one made the villagers have a weird deviant ritual... never understood that cheat...

that blasted beast took me a while to master at first! (aw the memories!)

same problem here. using win xp and not using dosbox. i didn't type anything and hit enter when asked for the word from paragraph whatever but it just tells me "a file is not found in the index" ......

it tells you that a file is not found in the index cause your download was corrupted/ your winzip is crappy/ you are one of those not as wise people who unzip exe only. cause the game starts when you dont type anything

games have been running smoothing thus far but this one just isn't seeming to work for me so it more than likely was a corrupted download and/or my winzip being a bitch but i am aware to unzip more than just the exe.

Clicking on Robins face brings up a status menu, pressing F1 on this screen will save the game, and quit. When you start the game again it will be from that spot.

I can not find a way to save the game and to keep on playing, so this is the best you can do I think. The joys of old games. :mischief:
