Does any one remeber Shadowrun??

Hi
I really like shadow run, Mainly because i like free form game and set in a post-apocaliyptic future where u can do what you like when you like, i dont know weather u could get it for pc?? as i had it on my sega

Tom Henrik 24-07-2004 11:31 AM

Heh...

I am a Game-Master for ShadowRun -the Role Playing Game

If I am correct there is a PC game made for ShadowRun, called Decker!
But I might be wrong.

OOOOOOO!!!!!! i like decker

yum yum lovely decker wasted months on that wasted most of my maths lessons on Decker aswell, but it isnt quiet the same as Shadow Run (if we are thinking about the same Decker) because shadow run had like monsters in it and was set in the future and u could run around as a little man and shoot people where as Decker is just a hacking game.

Yes, I agree totally. Decking around the Matrix must be the most boring aspect of the whole game.

Street-Samurais get all the fun :P

Bim 27-07-2004 10:35 AM

Yeah although it did get hard

Yeahit was fun running around shooting people and stuff although i found that after you got out of the fist zone place it got quiet difficult and i ended up saving alot but it was still great fun acctually i spent most of the time i should have been revising playing it but never mind i passed anyway!!

That's awesome! I love role playing games!! I actually work in a role-playing/comicbook store and it rocks. As for the other posts, yea shadowrun was a lot of fun to play. Although I always hated raiding the corportations, it was sooo hard!

The SNES version of Shadowrun is brilliant.

Oh yeah a very fun game, loved it. Played both the snes and genesis versions, but would probably give the nod a slight bit to the snes for the good story behind it.

Decker is actually based on the Shadowrun universe, if you didn't know, Bim. Shadowrun is a pen and paper RPG, like Dungeons and Dragons.

Also, it isn't post-apocalyptic, it's cyberpunk. Although the Awakened Earth is pretty screwed up.

I played a Shadowrun mud for a while... It was named Deckeon. No idea if it's still up, but with a little searching I could dig it up for someone who is interested.

It contain all aspect of the pen & paper Shadowrun, don't be fooled by the name...

:D How about we get shadow run in here huh? or is it still not abandonware...? :ok:

Kon-Tiki 23-01-2005 04:35 PM

Played the one for the Snes and the one for the Genesis. Personally, I liked the Genesis one better, but both were cool. Also played Bloodnet, which seems to set in the Shadowrun universe as well, and is available on this site.

Well, while looking up this 'Decker' game on HOTU, I stumbled across Uplink. Downloaded the demo, and I'm in love! Uplink ****ing ROCKS!

I don't think it's abandonware, but I would strongly advise EVERYONE to at least try the demo, if not track down a full version. Just leave a copy for me!

Kreepah 26-01-2005 04:10 AM

i thought the snes one was better. At the end of it they said they were releasing a second one they lied

it was too short also but it was utterly brilliant an unique i still play the snes to this day and shadow runs one of the games i play on it ... still :D

I much prefer the Genesis Shadowrun for the sheer depth of the game. The matrix could have been a whole game in itself. The first few times I played through it I pretty much avoided the matrix, but once I started getting into it, updated my deck, and started taking on corporate runs, I was hooked. It's great the way you can hack into a corporation and disable things like their security cameras and door locks, and then sneak in to complete your mission undetected. Or just hack in and steal information and then sell it off to a fixer.

Add to that a throughly detailed magic system, well-written dialogue even for the minor characters, completely non-linear gameplay, and actual shadowruns you can take on from any number of Johnsons in the game, and the end result is one of my favorite games ever. :D

The SNES version had a more involving storyline and a much bigger world to play in, but it lacked that extra bit of depth that I was so used to in the Genesis version. So to me it was a disappointment, though I can still see why others might enjoy it more. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Both are good in different ways.

Sorry for the double-post, but I did some searching and found that Decker actually is abandonware. The author ended his work on the project and released the source code in the hopes that someone else would pick it up.

Here's the official Decker site.

The download is available on that site.

100% agreed!!! :ok:

DeathDude 17-05-2005 03:19 PM

Yeah I agree the snes version was really fun, I enjoyed it for sure, the online sequences could've been better but oh well. The genesis version wasn't that bad either, especially the online seqences, although the top down view was kinda odd.
