Open poll. If your fav isn't on the list blame yourself for not posting on my thread for candidates.
No hate mail please!
Or a certain :sniper: might come after you.

I voted for Deus Ex, the scoreof which is awesome.

I'm surprised Vice City is not on the list, but wait, is that due to the difference between score and soundtrack? I always confuse the two...

Vampire TM: Redemption also has a very good score.

Veloxi 17-04-2005 08:17 AM

Gotta say Total Annihilation beats 'em all, followed closely (IMO) by Interstate '76, Emperor of the Fading Suns, Heroes of Might and Magic II, Rocket Jockey, and Fantasy General.

Stroggy 17-04-2005 08:31 AM

Your candidates aren't all that great, personally the music in Emperor was pretty basic and not very noteworthy, while the music from Unreal Tournament 2004 was at times amazing.

I voted for C&C eventhough they aren't all that great (Tiberian Sun)

Tulac 17-04-2005 09:04 AM

I liked the music from Morrowind, it's epic like the game...

A. J. Raffles 17-04-2005 09:14 AM

It's a bit embarassing to admit, but Monkey Island 2 is the only one of these games which I've actually played...

UnHoly 17-04-2005 09:43 AM

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 - great music, it excelent suits the game;
Ed Hunter - crappy game game but music was awsome - The Best of Iron Maiden!!!1

efthimios 17-04-2005 09:46 AM

I voted for C&C because from the above it is the only one that I can remember parts of it, and it was cool when first arrived. (the music)

Out of this list I would vote for the Amiga (yes though an ST user I also had an AMiga for a while) game Agony, where you were a owl or something, shoot em up. The score was amazing in that game, I wish I had it in some format (the music).

Utopia (at least the ST version I haven't played the DOS one yet) had a great score IMO.

Calamity 17-04-2005 12:53 PM

Phew, good thing Deus Ex is on the list or I would've cried. :P If I had known about the candidate topic I would've thrown System Shock 2 in there since it's music is fantastic as well.

DeathDude 17-04-2005 03:07 PM

Voted for Deus Ex as well, great stuff they did for the score, so many memorable tracks.

TheGiantMidgit 17-04-2005 07:09 PM

I still maintain the Neverhood has by far the most imaginative, original and all around best soundtrack ever created. Unfortunatly, it lacked the popularity required to get such tunes around.

Kezz 17-04-2005 07:32 PM

I voted for Command & Conquer, but I think the best music I've ever heard in a game was from the Homeworld series. The music always started up at exactly the right time, always perfectly fit the mood of the current situation, and always inspired the perfect blend of emotions. Not to mention, Yes's The Ladder is my all time favorite song... ever.

I also thought Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance had incredible music, but I can only partially consider that computer music. The PC version is uber rare because like the same week it came out for the PC it was recalled because the graphics were very incompatible with most computers, the control scheme was really hard, and few people had DVD drives at the time. I was lucky enough to be one of the few hundreds of people who nabbed a copy before they were yanked away, and I absolutely love that music.

Zarkumo 17-04-2005 07:44 PM

Speaking of scores, I remember I only bought Serious Sam - The Second Encounter after having heard the great music in the demo version. It really blends in well with the "gameplay". :D

Spoonman 17-04-2005 10:55 PM

As a NiN fan it feels really wrong to me not to vote for Quake, but it would be just as wrong not to vote for Monkey Island here, so I did the last since the game is better :)

Vice City has a superb soundtrack, but the songs are not especially written for the game and the game hasn't got that abandonware feel I think a game should have (well in this context anyway), so I wouldn't have voted for that. I also think Doom would have fit in nicely on this list.

Bernie 18-04-2005 02:05 AM

Out of those games, it's definately the C&C games that have the best music!

Frank Klepacki owns!!! (the guy that makes the C&C music, if you didn't know) Hell March from RA should have earned him an award, if it didn't.

Several of the games soundtracks are even better than the games themselves. (Red Alert2 <- the only thing I like about this game is the awesome music :guitar:, Renegade, Tiberian Sun.)

TheGiantMidgit 18-04-2005 03:42 AM

http://www.sfu.ca/~rfarahbo/home/theneverhood/TNMP3.htm Again I post this link, only because C&C and such may have some great stuff (Hell march, yea!) but it can't beat such innovation.

cheesegrater 18-04-2005 04:10 AM

Red Alert had kickass music - Hell's March

Need For Speed 3 had kickass music - Aquila 303 anyone? :D

DeathDude 18-04-2005 04:27 AM

Another bunch of decent music I remember that was pretty good was from Unreal Tournament, the first one, some really good tracks for some of the levels, really added a mood to them.

Onimaru 20-04-2005 05:36 PM

 C&C yeah!!! (but my fav are musics from the FF series love them all!!!)

KingTizz 24-04-2005 09:28 PM

Wasn't around when the nominations were done, but i'd go for Homeworld. The music fitted the game perfectly.

Or settlers 2 because i can't get that bloody tune out my head 5 years after a i first played it.

Unknown Hero 24-04-2005 10:26 PM

Full Throttle - definetely!!

omg 24-04-2005 11:08 PM
