Hi As1, my twinsen's odyssey post has been moved to requests for some reason (?), but I've just posted a reply to you and wanted to let you know, because this whole subject matter is very important to me! Thank you.

sorry sorry, i mean a1s

hey what
's up? i could get twinsen's odessy to work, except with no sound. I remember when this game first came out, i had a hell of a time getting it to work. Lots of sound issues. |
I hope you all know that Little Big Adventure 2: Twinsen's Odyssey is still being sold, and that any reguests for the game is warez talk :ok:

the problem we have (now it's my problem also) is that the game incorrectly displays from windows, and does not find CD from DOSBox (yes! dispite being oficialy a win95 game it apafrently works for dos). |
That just means y'all have a buggy version. My game works flawlessly from Win XP. The problem with LBA2 is that the graphic needs special attention.
You should be able to find a graphic patch on the net. After that it should run perfectly from Windows. |
on behalf of bellebelle (i guess) and myself I want to thank tom who led us to this patch (which solves the problem, for me at least):
|
Thanks Tom! Thank you! Thank you!
 :tnx: |
I'm sorry to say this, but my new problem is that whenever the game begins, it restarts my computer after I start Twinsen walking. Why is this?

As the patch will tell you, it doesn't fix every operating system and/or computer/laptop. For instance. I can play LBA2 perfect on this laptop using the patch, but I can't play it on my second laptop. The patch doesn't work with it. The two laptops are identical, except for the producer. If you have a second machine, I would propose you try the game (with the patch) on that one. If not, I don't know. Some things can't be fixed by the common man and woman. :( |
is it possible to burn an image of the game on a cd?

those guys are the robin hoods of the abw- they will put the game on their site even if it's not abandonware (but should be, if the owners had at least a tiny bit of counciessnes).
|
I tried putting it on a CD and it still didn't detect it as the proper CD in Dosbox, and it still reset my computer for some reason after twinsen starts to move. Nothing worked, it's so sad.
|
Have you tried mounting it as a cd under Dosbox? Command's this:
Code:
Mount d -t cdrom d:\ |
Isn't is
mount d d:\ -t cdrom ??? That is the command I use, anyways, but maybe both works :ok: |
Seems like it works my way too.
|
i don't belive it's an original CD, and I couldn't quite find the necesary files in the folder (then again, that isn't my strong side).
|
I haven't try that game in ages.... will check if it works with that patch.
And Twinsen's Odyssey was made for DOS and for Windows. |
Sorry to make this topic jump, but does the version in HOTU have speech and ingame-videos? I have downloaded this game from various abandonware sites, but they don't have speech nor the videos, and I think it's pointless to play this game w/o them. I like this game a lot. I have got this game on a CD, but I don't have it anymore :crybaby: :hairpull:
EDIT: Do I have to register in HOTU to download the game? Is it free? |
I have the original game CD... I'll dig it out sometime and see if I can get it working right.
But from what I remember, the Windows version doesn't work on recent versions of windows. I can't remember whether I had any luck with DOSbox or anything though. I'm sure I got it working somehow though.. it might have been that patch or something. |
I got it to work with WinXP. I used the patch (I don't remember the name) from http://magicball.net/ and I changed the compatibility to Windows 98, but I still don't have speech nor ingame-videos. Does anyone know a place where I can download them (HOTU probably)?
