Did you ever discover an easter egg in a game? I bet you did! Now tell us about it.
Also if you want to talk about some secret chambers you discovered in some game, fell free to tell us. :ok: Here's an easter egg: Desperados In the level when you rescue Doctor McCoy, when John tells you to use the scarecrow and put it somewhere, instead of putting in front of the 2 cowboys, you put it on the same spot you sunk the boat with the precision bullets. After you place the scarecrow Doc points it's hand to the sunken boat and rises it from the water. Then, John Cooper will say: "May the force be with you, young McCoy!" |
In Crusader: No Remorse, I remember an Easter egg somewhere in the game, where a special teleporter brings you to a room with a huge boss-robot called the cheese-machine or something. There is every gun in the game, posters of the developers, and a giant egg!
|
LOL ive found most of the special encounters in fallout
fav = the cafe of broken dreams. |
The First one offhand is from the sims house party when you buy the Jungle Jumble Import Display" and get your sim to view it, you'll get a pic from the development team.
The second one I can remember is from Escape from Monkey Island "On Jambalaya Island, walk up to Murray at Planet Threepwood. Keep trying to pick him up until he begins repeating himself. Then rotate Guybrush so that he is not looking at anything in particular. Type 'murrayball' and you will play Pong with Murray's head. Use your Up and Down arrow keys to control your banana." |

Broken Spaceshuttle and a lot of red, yellow, blue and green clothes, just like those from Voyager. |
I encountered quite some of the easter eggs in the classical games, but right now I can recall two of them:
1. Dungeon Keeper - when you start the game on the 5th May, 3rd May and on every full moon day, there are different greetings than the usual ones. 2. Rise of the Triad - if you start the game with the following command-line parameter rott.exe -dopefish, the rotary Dopefish appears, the game has different level names and "comments" and the menus have different sounds. Also there is a "bizarre bonus deathcam" available - when you're killed from a missile, flame wand or a powerful weapon, the camera circles around you before you explode / burn out. |
What about 'Sasha' from Fallout? She is behind the catherdral. She is the pet of a developer's friend.
|
There's a few in HL2 - in fact PCGamer had a feature on them last month. Off the top of my head, when you have to play with Alyx and the Gravity Gun, if instead of pulling some crates off a high ledge you climb up there, there's an old Black Mesa HEV charger up there.
|
Ha! Interesting. Did you see the speed-trials of the different games? In one, the guy uses the laser to skip most of Xen. I call that an Easter egg, just because it is possible.
|
the HL in an hour thing is awesome - i thnk thats the one you mean
|
1) In KQ2, the batmobile sometimes drives out of Hagatha's cave.
2) Too many to mention in KQ2 Vga, including Rocky & Bullwinkle references, Murray the demonic skull, the skull from QfG, various other QfG references, Star Trek references, Star Wars references, etc. etc. 3) In Doom or Doom 2 (I forgot which one), there's a secret room with four hanged Commander Keens 4) In Little Pirate, saying "Praise Raf" gives you a walkthrough. You can also "Pee on the tree" and "muck in the pit" |
Some of the many Max sighting references that are seen in a lot of Lucasarts games. Like in Grim Fandango at Toto's Tattoo place, on the smallish poster.
|
I remember that in UT(first), in one map you could enter a secret room, where you could see the picture of that maps creator, however I don't recall was it an official map or from the net...
|
Yeah it was an official map, forget what it was called, I remember it had a bridge with one of those shield armour things, fairly crammed map though, and yeah the map was made by Cliff B, who made a bunch of maps for the game.

There's a good one in Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror.
When Nico gets to the old Underground station, you need to get some chocolate from the vending machine and then try and give it to the ghost of the Hashashin from BS1. Then go to the far left of the area. Nico will find herself in an area from Beneath a Steel Sky and meet with Robert Foster. Not so much an egg as a cool reference, but in Myst III: Exile, you can see the Riven book in Atrus' study. Also, realMYST adds a small gravestone to Myst island with the name Ti'ana on it- this was the D'ni name given to Anna, Atrus' grandmother who features in the first two novels (Book of Atrus and Book of Ti'Ana) |

How could I miss this one? |
I wasn't sure if it was possible to get that dog behind the Cathedral.
The Commander Keen hanging around was in Doom 2. There was also a Wofenstein level. I know this is a console game but in ICO, at the end on the beach if you picked up a water melon before you find Yorda, it will show you both eating it (I think). Another Fallout one was the seized up Enclave soldier. |
NOX had many, many easter eggs, and i think i got at least 75% of them
|
Commander Keen 4 - some levels had the authors' signatures written in the backgrounds (yup!)
Duke Nukem 3D - there were a few easters there... I remember getting the Indiana Jones one, not sure which others too... Duke Nukem Manhattan project (at least demo) - on the level beginning there is this figure of Duke as graffiti... figure very recognizable for Duke Nukem 2 players. Bloodrayne - a lot of dialogues was cut out of the game, including a very funny "nude code" easter egg. And nude code was it not... |
URU: Path of the Shell: When you go to Myst Isle, in the fireplace, enter the original pattern to get a cool Relto page.
I seem to remember a few years ago that Domen Novak had a huge list of easter eggs. Anyone know where it is? |
Try this site for Easter eggs. :ok:
|
I agree good site.
|
not sure if this is an easter egg or not, but in The Moment of Silence, the digital clock in JFK airport shows the local time of the user.
|
In Max Payne there is a part in the game where two bad guys recite the lyrics to "It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)" by REM.
|
hmmmm there are some easter eggs in final fantasy 1 and 2 (two games in one package) where in number one there is a village where there are a grave stone with the inscription "here lies Link" (Link from the zelda games) and two others i canīt remember
duke nukem 3d in the third levek (death row) there is a place where you when you go into it the Doom space marine is there (dead) and he(Duke) says "that is one doomed space marine" and in the first level in episode 3 he sings "Born To Be wild" at the bikerbar thing but i donīt know if you could call it an easter egg |
The leisure suit larry games are SO filled with easter eggs and they are probably the funniest (and weirdest) I've ever encountered in any game!
|
In Diablo 2 you have to combine two items to make a teleport. When you past trough it you are in a level full of cows with axes. They want to kill you!!!! :D
|
Quote:
Reminder of Diablo 1 when you could "torture" poor cows... LOL |
Quote:
|
yes, yes.and there is a king cow.they give you very good items
|
And only once you can enter to Cow level. :not_ok:
|

It's Wirt's leg and a tome of town portal, and you have to be in the Rogue Encampment and have killed Diablo on that difficulty. The Secret Cow Level is also really easy for a cold-based sorceress with Frozen Orb. I remember playing it with a friend of mine on a LAN and his barbarian kept getting slaughtered while my sorceress was basically twiddling her thumbs. |

Please, there is a forum dedicated to discussing diablo stuff.

Blood and Shadow Warrior
A couple "easter eggs" come to mind...
In Blood, if you don't move for a good 10-30 seconds (not sure exactly how long... it has been years!), Caleb starts to sing Sinatra songs (usually just a line or two). In Blood, (and don't ask which level, I only know it was a "snowy" level). There is an ice sculpture a person with his hands raised in the air. If you shoot it, it explodes and an "invincibility" orb is inside. I'm assuming it's a reference to Goldeneye (the movie) and Alan Cummings character (I forget his name, the computer hacker) who kept saying "I Am Invincible!"... and in the end, died by being frozen. In Shadow Warrior, there is one level (which also appears in the shareware version) which features a secret area with Lara Croft chained to the wall. The funny thing is, in the shareware version, her clothing is VERY ripped, revealing quite a bit (obviously not full nudity...), whereas in the retail version, the same area, Lara is still chained, but her clothes are not nearly as ripped... |
i think i'm going to download shareware version of shadow warrior
|
This is the one from the full version:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=D3qimpnsHU4&feature=related And _r.u.s.s., if you're in that stuff and want to see Lara naked, my bro has some mod that you can play the whole Angel of darkness with a full naked Lara.... now yeah, each his own. |
Duke, Blood and Shadow Warrior had all kinds of these stuff.
1. Many dead "celebrities" in Duke Nukem, for example: The Doom Marine, Snake Pliskin (Atomic Edition), Luke Skywalker, Indiana Jones and Terminator. 2. For Blood, Duke Nukem himself can be found dead, as well as "Johnny" from the Shining. There's also the shed with Claw-hand and Machete, relating Freddy Krueger & Jason. Also, the strangling, hard-to-kill hands are direct reference to Evil Dead. 3. In Shadow Warrior......in Shadow Warrior.....beh. I havent played that much. All I remember is that you can find bunch of Anime-chicks (Nekkid ones), Jackie Chan's grave and dead Turtle. A Teenaged, mutated Ninja turtle. |
In Vice City, if you shoot at the building across VCN, and jump to it, you'll find an easter egg.
I remember Russ saying that one of his programs had an easter egg, and if you pressed space for a few seconds and typed "russ" it'd flip a bird. |
In Quake there was a secret room with a Dopefish (from Commander Keen).

Not sure that this isn't mentioned in the topic, but in Doom 2, in level 30, when you enter the teleporter, you hear a voice speaking. If you play this voice backwards, it will say: "To win the game, you must kill me, John Romero." If you use the noclip cheat, you can enter the Icon of Sin, and see Romero's head impaled in a spike. |
In Opposing Force, the last boss plays that sound file.
|
|
In Aladdin, on the first desert level, look at the columns below the arew with the store. There is a picture of Goofy on one of them.
|
In World of Warcraft there's a string of quests that is full of Easter Eggs from the original Legend of Zelda. You fight a boss named for the first boss of the game, search for a boomerang, the character's name is Linkin, etc.
I kind of geeked out when I realized that. The same area of the game has characters meant to be Mario & Luigi as well. |
|
In Worlds of Ultima: Martian Dreams: there's a spot in the plains where you will find a fairly large "x" on the ground. If you dig at the center, you will find a pair of ruby slippers. Put those on, and you will be informed that you have won the game. Then you will be treated to a short slideshow of artistically rendered shots of Kansas. :D
|
In Ultima 6 you can murder Lord British by causing a plaque in his castle to fall on his head. After that you'll hear the Guardian say "Yes Avatar, that's the right thing to do."
This is alluding to an incident in the ORIGIN offices where a plaque in the building fell on Richard Garriott's head and left him with minor injuries. Lawl. |
Isn't that one in Ultima 7?
I found it fun that you can kill Lord British in all the games, especially when I first killed him in Ultima 7 by accident... |
In Chex Quest, in level 2(the storage facility) you go into one of the rooms with the elevator at one side, and there's a stack of crates right next to it, if you go onto the elevator and run off with the right timing, you can get on those crates, there is then a secret door that leads to a room with portraits of the Digital Cafe staff, and there's the LAZ device(bfg9000)!
Also, in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, you can steal items from the store, but then everyone calls you by THIEF. |

In gamefaqs.com there is a full guide walkthrough written by yours truly for the game and the expansion with all the easter eggs I was able to find. I'd like to add that one as I didn't know that :( (Shameless self promotion) |
More like a secret then an easter egg, but in Doom II one of the secret levels is a replica of the first and last levels of Wolfenstien 3d from the first episode, complete with soldiers from the game. Grosse was replaced by a cyber demon. At then end you got to kill 4 Commander Keens that were hung.
Two other ones were in Doom 3. Type a cheat from Doom I or II in the console and it will say "You remembered well". Another is near the end of the game is a secret passage that leads to a ritual altar with a PDA on it that has messages from the developers. |
