You probably didn't understand anything from the title, but I will try to explain. If I want to tell something to all admins and don't want to PM just one, can there be created somekind of thread or something similar where I can send my 'PM'? I thought of this because I don't get response everytime I send a PM to admin.

Strobe 05-04-2005 06:57 PM

i think this could turn out a litte difficult, because if everybody starts posting
their admin relating requests into such a topic, this will soon get too complex
to handle.

the best way would be to create a whole admin requests forum, but honestly
i don't think this is necessary.

if admins don't respond to a request via PM it's for a reason - most probably
they lack the time to because they're busy or such...

but hey, that's just my view. the best thing would be the admins speak out
on this themselves... :)

MrBackAlleySka 05-04-2005 07:53 PM

Only thing I see doing, for ive done this myself. is PM one admin with whatever you wanna say, and add at the end something like, if you are too busy to respond, no need to respond. I'll ask another admin within 2 days, so no worries.

Or something of the sort? I dunno LOL. just a suggestion LOL

Unknown Hero 05-04-2005 07:53 PM

I thought something similar what happens when you report someone. When you report someone the message arrives to all admins on their mails. I thought of something like that, but not mail. A place on forum where you will be able to confess your problems to admins.

Havell 05-04-2005 07:55 PM

When you report someone's post, all the mods (I don't know about the admins) receive an e-mail with a link to the post in question and what the reporter wrote.

All the mods, and (I think) all the admins. But we will finish :ot: if we continoue this way.

Eagle of Fire 05-04-2005 08:08 PM

Just to clarify things up, I am the mod of the Troubleshooting forum and I never ever received a PM about a post report. I don't know if I would receive one if someone would report a post in the Troubleshooting section (which I don't think would happen often) but even so I beleive that's admins authority which prevail in such a case. Mods have nothing to do about this except to moderate that particular forum.

More often than not mods are only users who are particularly present in a certain part of the board and who possess a good sense of judgement over the rules and certain heated debates and who are more likely to act first before an Admin need to lost their time in something which would more likely than not end up a trivial task (like closing dangerous threads or warning users about spam and such). This have seldom to do with any decisive or important actions to be done on the board and thus we, as mods, only represent the competent authority (the admins) but are not one per se.

I think you didn't get my point.

Example: I want to ask Kosta for an FTP account because I have review, game and screenshots. I PM him, but three days later I still didn't get any response.

This is why I suggested this....well this suggestion.

xcom freak 05-04-2005 09:09 PM

A user account could be created . nick name for instance : alladmins.
And all admins know the password and they can check it out from time to time and they can check if an admin already replyd or not.

Edit : i dont find the idea useful. TOm always answers :kosta:

Data 05-04-2005 09:24 PM

Well you should know that are different admins.

Not every forum admin can do the same thing.
While we have the same powers on the forum. Our powers and responsibilies when it comes to the abandonia website are different.

So you can't contact alladmins with requests for ftp accounts.

BeefontheBone 05-04-2005 09:27 PM

Also, why not just make a thread? it'd be something a bit weird if you wanted to contact all the admins about it but not have any regular users see it.

Tom Henrik 06-04-2005 01:52 AM

Kosta - All over ruler, and the only one with full access to everything
Titan - Controls the Abandonia bank account, and server costs
The Picard - Chief of the Prize Give-Aways
Data - Keeps the server going. Give the man a script and he can do wonders
Maikel - Lead designer
Braindead - An Invision Power Board magician. If you need something he'll make it
Tom Henrik - The little slave who gets all the smutty jobs

Out of all the admins, only Kosta, The Picard and myself have server access. And can update games. Data has low-level server access. (The Picard never uses his access, though).

Moderators - They keep the forum tidy, and are doing an amazing job with it

Wendymaree - Has server access and is fully qualified to update games
Kon-Tiki - Has server access and is fully qualified to update games
Sebatianos - Has server access and is fully qualified to update games
Strobe - Has server access and is fully qualified to update games

Grammar squad - These are the grammar nazis who will tell you your spelling sucks

See? Nazis the lot of 'em.

Translators - The REALLY hard-working people on this site

I hope this will help you to decide who you want to send your PM to.

:ok: Very well put eagle, i couldn't have said it better myself

This is going off topic, let the admins speak their mind, don't spam this topic!!

Maikel 06-04-2005 05:22 PM

I don't get PM's that often. I try to reply as soon as possible. But I don't know if I would do it if I would receive enormous amounts. It takes a good while to write a good answer.

Unknown Hero 06-04-2005 06:51 PM

Cool. This list is really usefull. Thank you Tom. Now I know who gets all those smutty jobs, and to whom I will send my PM. LOL

Lizard 06-04-2005 07:51 PM

I noticed that, too...

I knew Beef would get it, hehe.

It makes me laugh. :D

If anyone has grammar or review correction questions, the GS consists of:

BeefontheBone
FruitPieJones
taikara
R Havell
Ababo
(but he's somewhat MIA, so you'll have better luck with the first four).
