Something different than those other polls, but maybe some interesting second personalities will be uncovered. :sneaky:

Personally, I always choose a Mage, and mostly I choose 'dark' spells. The spells are often the coolest part of an RPG game...

Omuletzu 08-03-2005 12:00 PM

Barbarian :Titan:

Kizzikat 08-03-2005 12:06 PM

Magic, because I can already beat people up with bladed weapons.

Kon-Tiki 08-03-2005 12:30 PM

Anything that can be stealthy, is a good fighter (preferably hand-to-hand and swords/knives) and is fairly good with casting spells. In QfG, I always took Thief because of that :D

Lizard 08-03-2005 12:33 PM

I try to play evil necromancer/dark mage/vampire/cleric/whatever...
In Baldurs Gate etc is my favorite offensive oriented cleric(weird combination  )

DeathDude 08-03-2005 01:34 PM

I would say hand to hand combat would be my favourite, although using magic would be a close second.

Calamity 08-03-2005 01:57 PM

When it comes to strictly table top RPGs I'm usually either an Elven Ranger or a Paladin/Dark Knight (switching between the two of course). :ok:

ReamusLQ 08-03-2005 02:15 PM

I would choose archer, not because I'm a pansy or anything like that, but because that's probably the stealthiest thing on there. I normally go for an assassin or something equivalent, but I also don't mind sitting invisible on the rooftops and sending an arrow through someones temple with pin point accuracy

FlightorFight 08-03-2005 02:18 PM

I already voted other, but now that I think about it, I would choose barbarian! Hand to hand combat is way more exhilerating :Titan:

The Levitating Nun 08-03-2005 03:17 PM

Barbarian is by far the coolest and in games like Baldur's Gate you won't be killed by two axe blows if an enemy gets close to you. Long live the sword and shield!

Omuletzu 08-03-2005 03:24 PM

I like melee combat, but generally i go for paladins/warriors.Barbarians have an aura of limited intelligence floating around them :D

troop18546 08-03-2005 04:00 PM

I'd have to choose either mage or archer.
(my favourite player from Heroes of M&M3 is Sandro. :D )

TaloN 08-03-2005 04:54 PM

im an archer/hunter/rogue player.

always agile, always accurate, good powers over plants and beasts.

Partizanka 08-03-2005 05:15 PM

Archer perhaps, or a Rogue with solid close combat and sneaking skills. I don't like just standing around beating on someone. I much prefer to either put a shot in their eye from a distance or slit their throat when they don't know I'm there.

Also, Rogues get the most fun out of anyone, since they always get to investigate first, sneak around people's homes, steal from everyone (sometimes their own party too) and of course, are the first ones to the treasure because they can disarm traps and pick open locks. Since they usually can't resolve conflict with straight out combat, it usually means there is alot more thought out role playing involved for the rogue then say, a Barbarian who can just smash things if he gets in trouble.

Tulac 08-03-2005 07:25 PM

Add the thief to the poll man, I think that type if character gives you the most freedom(at least in p&p RPG's),and maybe not so much in computer ones, still it's fun too steal an object way before the time you actually should've acquired it...

xcom freak 08-03-2005 07:26 PM

Paladdin is also a good add coz half barbarian/half cleric.

But i would definitly go with necromancer.(conjurer)

Ajax 08-03-2005 07:30 PM

I'd have to say that my favorite is the paladin/cleric figure. I guess I like being the good guy and a tough good guy at that!

I like to be cleric too but INFERNAL
I generally like to play evil side if it is possible
I just like to be bad guy

xinster 08-03-2005 09:30 PM

Who the *meep* ever chooses the light side of mages....

i love range and obscurity. If theres ever a theif (doesnt even hav to be assassin) il usually choose that. i dont like choosing full blown mage or barbarian cause i dont wanna risk it being a shitty cliche class, which some games make it to be.

Kon-Tiki 08-03-2005 10:01 PM

Not to mention mages tend to be made so physically weak that, the entire game through, you run chances of being killed by a low-level enemy. For barbarians, the same goes, but against magicians. Not to mention their stealth's not what it should be. Any mission that requires tact or stealth to get the fullest out of it (and almost every RPG has at least one of those) will make you feel handicapped with a barbarian. Not to mention you'll miss out on the magic, which's usually a big part of the game, too. That still leaves out the factor that in most games, either a full-fledged fighter or a full-fledged mage will leave you with a crapload of items you won't be able to use, along with missing out on alot of items due to being unable to open this or that door or get past this or that guy unseen. Only cliché class that's actually balanced out, is a rogue. It's different for Baldur's Gate, though. There're way too many classes there. Last time I played that (several years ago), I remember carefully reading each class's description. I tend to make characters as close to myself as possible, in order to see how I'd do in the game as myself. Ended up having to choose between Jester, Bard, Shepperd and a few others. And the choice became terribly hard. In such cases, a few cliché-types can make the game alot faster :D

TheVoid 09-03-2005 03:09 PM

Magic all the way!
Eat couple of Bolt 3 and then come back to complain about your useless hours of fighting school and gym

Doc Adrian 09-03-2005 04:31 PM

Dark mage by far for me  muahahaha apparently alot of other like that too. :D

Just something about using that Quench life spell and that little scream before they hit the ground that makes it all so worth it

yeah...I need help, your right.

Mad-E-Fact 09-03-2005 06:28 PM

What's with everyone wanting to be an evil mage? Me being mad and evil in real life, I usually play a Paladin in RPGs to compensate. LOL

Maybe becouse we are all good, nice and happy people in real life, who play evil, mad and dark mages to compensate? :sneaky:

Partizanka 09-03-2005 06:48 PM

Its too hard for me to be a good person in games. It is too much against my nature.

troop18546 09-03-2005 06:53 PM

In games I am the stalker of the unworthy foe, the demolisher of evil and the master of stealth and sharpshooters. I always get a clean shot at every enemy and that enemy always gets what he deserves - death.

(A bit dark ages but who cares. :D )

xcom freak 09-03-2005 07:00 PM

Necromancer's moto : Y fight when others can do it for you?

troop18546 09-03-2005 07:04 PM

Good one. I like being a necromancer in games very much.

Lizard 09-03-2005 07:08 PM

I dont.I like to kill them all myself. And mostly, when your summoned monsters kill someone you get less exp....

DeathDude 09-03-2005 07:14 PM

I hear that, always annoying when that happens.

You heard what??? :eeeeeh:

troop18546 09-03-2005 07:16 PM

I like sorcerers because their more smarter than any other class. Take a barbarian for example, I think he could be fooled everytime in any game anytime. The mages have the upper hand on this case...

Hey, english is like Lizard's third language or something. It was an american colloquialism mate, meaning "i agree" or "that's happened to me too" - like someone would say "man i hate it when your girlfriend stands you up to go shopping" and his friend would say "i hear ya, bro" or something...

troop18546 09-03-2005 07:57 PM

Whats your point?

Lizard 09-03-2005 08:50 PM

That I am good in english!!! :w00t: :w00t: :Brain: :Brain: :Brain:
Or no? :eeeeeh:

Anovich 10-03-2005 10:56 AM

I usually play an elven thief and sometimes bard. It's not just because you can steal peoples' stuff, it's also uhm.... uhm... well... prowling?

heh heh, no I also like short bows and short swords, generally a big fan of shortness I guess

His point is "get back on topic" ;)

Xikarita 12-03-2005 04:17 PM

I chose Barbarian (even though I like other classes) because hack n' slash is my kind of thing! :Titan:

TheSmyth 15-03-2005 03:06 PM

It Would have to be a Paladin usually, fairly balanced players. Otherwise, a barbarian, there's nothing quite like sharpening an axe on your enemies head! :ranting: :Titan:

LuckyLlama 17-03-2005 02:49 AM

Thief or assassin for me. Nothing like a little backstabbing to get the job done... :sneaky:

Razor2 17-03-2005 05:11 AM

I play a paladin (cavalier in BG2), its real fun to be able to use weapons like the Carsomyr in BG2, which only this class can use.

Tulac 17-03-2005 06:22 PM

Hmm Paladins are nice if you want a slaughter-machine, but in real roleplaying(p&p), they're quite limiting, though if you play a religious fanatic it can still be a lot of fun...

/me waggles little finger.

short things eih ;)

i love playing elven or half elf rogues.

Anovich 17-03-2005 08:11 PM

Arg! Really should have seen THAT one coming, shouldn't I?

Started Diablo 2 bloody campains (if u die u lose the caracter) for each caracter finished it only with the paladin....Barbarian got surrounded, and necromancer/witch/rogue got killed without me even noticing coz their armour and health are just really low.

most practical character is paladin
most fun is necromancer...

LordHogFred 17-03-2005 08:54 PM

Other, would have to be a Paladin. I just love those magic casting knighty type people :bleh:

Nick 19-03-2005 07:49 AM

I chosed Barbarian, but I would play Cleric, if this class was available. Or Paladin.

MrBackAlleySka 19-03-2005 01:50 PM

Must say the rogue/thief/assassin types. NOTHING better than sneaking around, hiding in shadows, and bam, backstab pickpocket, backstab, rinse, repeat.

Sean 19-03-2005 04:30 PM

I usually call myself something along the lines of...

DarkHero
DarkKnight
SithWarriror

etc...

I bet you can guess what i voted for ^^

WaAn 04-01-2006 04:57 PM

I'm a palladin! Where is he? :Titan:

Javaguy 04-01-2006 06:54 PM

I love ranging, sneeking, assasination, that kinda thing
so ima ranger at heart :D

Kearnsy 05-01-2006 08:45 AM

Umm, barbarian I guess. i like the paladin in D2. Combining close combat with auras and some spells is cool, Hacking through guys is definatly fun.

plague 06-01-2006 07:03 PM

Assasin. I wouldn't feel very comfortable if a monster which I should deal with would come close to me knowing that I'm close to it. And if it would come close to me, I'd probably make sure that it won't do it again.
