Star Wars - TIE Fighter [LucasArts]

I suppose ( i am 99% sure :P ) that Lucasarts still sells it... But i would really like to play it again........ :( So i am making a desperate attempt to ask if it is abandonware or not..... :)

The Niles 08-06-2004 10:34 PM

Lucasarts is still selling it on their website so it is NOT abandoneware. X-Wing, the very first game in the series is.

Sjoerd 25-06-2004 03:07 PM

X-wing is??? oooh ooh.... I WANT it :D

FreeFreddy 25-06-2004 04:25 PM

I have it ;)

Polar 01-07-2004 04:15 AM

X wing

I want that too! I got tie fighter...too bad itīs not abandon..

Ioncannon 01-07-2004 12:47 PM

was tie fighter the one were the first leve you are racing in the canyons? I had that game a long time agon, lost it though :(

Dream 01-07-2004 01:00 PM

Nope IIRC that's not that one.

FreeFreddy 01-07-2004 07:31 PM

The canyon level, I believe, was in Rebel Assault 1. I liked Rebel Assault 2 more, though... (censored, therefore the spaces...)

Dream 01-07-2004 08:25 PM

Why the hell are the words Rebel Assault censored?!

Testing (!):

As sault

Turnatian Abandonware

Download from Turnatian abandonware

Strange, words abandonware and names of eventual sites appear normally.

FreeFreddy 01-07-2004 09:45 PM

Assault is censored because of the "behind" part of the word (the first 3 letters) 8)

marko river 28-09-2004 08:36 AM

I also have Tie fighter. If X-wing is really abandonware someone must get to it. I MEAN IT!!!!
I also liked Dark Forces but I doub it is abandonware.

FreeFreddy 28-09-2004 10:11 AM

Well, as said above, I have X-Wing (including B-Wing, Imperial Pursuit and all extras). The only problem - it's around 100 MB large and needs a CD to run. Creating the ISO still would be 100 MB, compressed around 55-70 MB then. Little too large for the site, where the largest possible size is 30-35 MB... :(

marko river 28-09-2004 10:16 AM

Could it help if I find X-wing without other games i it. About 20MB unzipped files and no CD? I had it, I think it's around somewhere.

FreeFreddy 28-09-2004 10:31 AM

That one would be ok. Just sad that you wouldn't be able to play the full detailed version of mine... :(
It's kind of more interesting, especially the missions with the B-Wings.

BlackMageJawa 28-09-2004 09:56 PM

I doubt X-Wing is abandonware, as they still sell the X-Wing Collectors Series, which has both X-Wing and TIE-Fighter as well as a demo of XvT.

Although those games have been updated to run under Windows 95, so I suppose the old DOS versions could be considered abandonware.

Fluxy 24-10-2004 11:44 AM

I know where you can get the old DOS versions, both of them. You just have to confiugre your sound correctly like a magician to get both speech and music and sound.

It's foreign, and the site also has The Secret of Monkey Island, so i'm not sure of the legality of it.

Razor2 24-10-2004 12:03 PM

Which version of Monkey Island? The VGA? I've been hunting for that for ages.

By I would order the Monkey Island pack from Lucas, but since I live in Europe, they won't ship it, and even if they would, the shipping costs would be more than the game itself.

The Niles 24-10-2004 02:41 PM

TIE Fighter and Monkey Island are both not abandoned. Any site that has them up for download is even more illegal then we are. Don't place links to these kinds of sites here. We will remove the link and likely ban the person who placed the link here.

Fluxy 24-10-2004 02:47 PM

Oh no one was planning on it, believe me, i'd hate to see Abandonia run into any problems. I joined up to the forum in hopes I could help more, because I feel like a freeloader.

Star Wars: TIE Fighter

How come i can find X-Wing and X-Wing vs Tie Fighter and i can't find ANYWHERE Tie FIghter i've been searching for this game since January. It's obvious i need help :) of any kind...

madcrow 04-03-2005 12:01 PM

isn't the functionality of tie fighter incorporated into xw vs tf?

Sinther 04-03-2005 12:57 PM

it isn't the same that game is unique... at least it is for me.... :D

Omuletzu 04-03-2005 02:16 PM

Tie fighter is not abandoned, and as you have probably learned by now, we don't tolerate warez

Sinther 04-03-2005 05:15 PM

How come X-wing is abandoned and Tie fighter isn't?

Dreadlord 04-03-2005 07:40 PM

Cause Tie Fighter is newer and Lucas Arts is insane.

Sinther 05-03-2005 06:20 AM

and probably because there are so many groups on the web enjoyng themselfs with tis game and this represents an oportunity to squeeze more money

FreeFreddy 05-03-2005 06:28 AM

Fact is a fact, pal. Just buy the game on E-Bay or similar, and the world will be fine for you. Especially as then you'll get (usually) full game package with the manual, which wouldn't quite make the game look cheaper as if you would download it. ;)

Sinther 05-03-2005 12:54 PM

i visited lucasarts site and tie fighter isn't mentioned there anywhere this means it is abandoned?

Last time I checked they still sell the game but even if they don't it doesn't mean the game is abandoned. Stores such as chips and bits still sell it and that means it is not abandoned. Eventually even TIE Fighter will become abandoned so if you don't own it and are not willing or are unable to pay the $10 to get it then you need to wait a few more years for it to be abandoned as well.

RockHeadTooth 28-07-2005 01:36 AM

First I'd like to say I just found your site and I almost had a heart attack.
Secondly TIE FIGHTER.... far superior to X-wing.
hopefully you can get it.
