A Bomb!
Aka: The Deus Ex appreciation thread.
It's nearly time for the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolutions, and you know what that means? It means it's time to revisit Deus Ex in all it's fantastic glory. Let's kick this off with some of the worst (best) moments of video game voice acting... A BOMB. MANGLED FRENCH ACCENTS ALL UP IN THIS THREAD So, who's pre-ordered, who doesn't care, who is rabidly excited (and pretending Deus Ex 2 doesn't exist) and who is cautiously excited (whilst painfully admitting the existence of Deus Ex 2)? In conclusion, let's put on a trench coat and fight some conspiracies! |
Copy-paste from HG101, where we also had a Deus Ex thread:
My favorite solution to problems? Shotgun. Bigger problem? GEP Gun. Sneaking is fun, but I love the Terminator style. Great thing about Deus Ex is that there's lots of small and big actions that affect little details in the game, like when you harass Sharon at the women restroom or skip the hostage situation at the battery park. Deus Ex is also excellent Youtube material. |

I started playing the original again, because I like hacking into computers and reading private emails, and it's illegal in real life. I also gave Invisible War a shot, which I've never played before.
Argh. If Human Revolution isn't good, I will cry like a little girl. |

ONLY TEN MORE SLEEPS TO GO!
Gettin' all augmented up in here. |
Someone already posted Egger3rds Recut of the game. I was going to post that since I sorta know the guy, at least he watches my videos every now and then and he is friends with a close friend of mine. So I shall say what the second cow did "I WAS GOING TO POST THAT!"
I am looking forward to the game, I don't hate Invisible War, I don't really like it either. I am hoping this new game will have learned from the mistakes made and will correct them. At the same time I expect it will be crap and will just sit on shelf to be mocked at a later date. |
I want it to be amazing.
This is getting eerily similar to the lead up to Indy 5 for me... |
I try not to amp myself up to much about new games. It only leads to sadness. But I to hope it will be amazing, because we deserve that. But if it is bad I will get it anyway just to have it and bad for a Deus Ex game might still be good in it's own way. We shall see.

If you pre-purchased on Steam you can pre-load now!
4 MORE SLEEPS! |
To celebrate the fact that there's, as Lulu_Jane puts it, only three sleeps left until Deus Ex: Human Revolution is released, I've taken the liberty of de-making six official screenshots from the game into Amiga-style 32-color images at 640x400 each. You can check them out in my de-make thread.

Haha sweeeeeeet :D
(also, I got the release date wrong, but still, ONLY 5 MORE SLEEPS!!!!) |

A bomb indeed! I've been looking at the reviews and its getting all-around positive scores. I'd imagine it would get negative reviews only if the reviewer was some kind of old-*** who hates new games.
I'd say a good game of the year candidate. |
The problem comes from if it is going to be a good Deus Ex game or not. High standards and all, I don't trust reviews that much any more opinions and paid opinions don't tell me if I will like the game. I hope to get it as soon as I can though so I can love and hate it.

So, here's my verdict. IT'S GREAT.
|
Sadly and most tragically I must....agree with Lulu. This is a great game, it really feels like a Deus Ex game.
|
This is pretty awesome actually, watching everyone popping up on steam as "now playing Deus Ex," and so far everyone is loving it.
It's like achieving world peace by being reprimanded for hanging out in the female toilets*. *This was the first thing that I did. |
