Player Manager 2 Extra - The Chase for Glory
Hi,
I see that there is already PM2 available for download on abandonia.com however is there any chance of "PM2 EXTRA - The Chase For Glory" becoming available for download? The PM2 only version currently available for download is very buggy and it becomes unplayable after about 4 seasons! Rubbish... I have the original CD of PM2 EXTRA and am running it via Dosbox which is good. However I think there's an even better version of PM2 EXTRA which is slightly different than the version I'm playing now. I'm sure the version I used to play back in the day had better / smoother graphics and it had additional features such as, you could click on the tv in the changing room and a video (albeit choppy and awful one) would play of Alan Hansen giving a match prediction... If possible it would be better to have this better version available for download. If anyone knows what I'm banging on about contact me and let me know where I could get a copy (of the better version with alan hansen on the TV!)...It would take me back to my childhood and be awesome... Any help is greatly appreciated, Cheers. Sighmohn |
I haven't found any buy links.
I think we can label this as 'approved'. |
@Clusek not so fast.
Player Manager 2 Extra - The Chase for Glory seems to exist only for Amiga. So normally that would be INVALD! unless it can be proven there exist a Version for PC. *go rename the Thread properly* |
PC version seems to be used to sold on Amazon.co.uk:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Player-Manag.../dp/B0006OFKP0 |
I've dug around, and not only is this game's developer and publisher not on the ESA list, it also isn't sold, and otherwise meets Abandonia's Definition of Abandonware. Therefore, unless Cluseck's link isn't conclusive, I proclaim this game to be [APPROVED].

I think there were different versions of the "Player Manager 2 extra" title for the pc. The one I'm currently playing via an original CD (albeit old and scratched!) and dosbox seems not as good as the version i used to play when I was younger...
All I remember from the good version i used to play when I was younger, was Alan Hansen giving a match prediction on a tv prior to the game! You had to click on the tv in the corner of the dressing room to activate this...So I'd be most interested in obtaining a copy of this version!! Takes me back... Cheers. ps I think I accidently posted my request for this game again so ignore that...sorry, i couldn't find my original request from earlier and posted again (I'm an idiot).... |

I can't remember exactly what it was like but I remember it being more slick graphic wise, like PM2 (the non 'extra' edition), and with no people walking around in the rooms (like there are in the version I just downloaded). One main distinguishing feature was the tv within the changing room (bottom right room of the building within the game), where you could click on a tv and activate a video of Alan Hansen's match prediction. (This is not the same as clicking on the newspaper on the table as this just gives a still image of hansen and a written match prediction (this is included in all versions of the game)... Maybe I'm going mad but I've been looking for this version for ages and have never found it!...Maybe I have to let it go. Haha... Cheers for the help anyway, much appreciated. Sighmohn |

I have downloaded the ISO. What do you use to run the game. I am running it in dosbox but it keeps bombing out. Please help I am really excited to play this game I remeber it from years ago it was awesom. |
Sorry to dredge up a slightly older thread but I am having trouble running this under DOSbox and wondered if anyone could offer some help. Specifically, I can get the game running but when it comes to the match engine, the players all run to the bottom right of the screen when I get control, as if the joystick hasn't calibrated properly. I have tried everything to get it to work, but nothing seems to work - funnily enough, it seems a little random. I managed to play one game once but upon exiting and restarting, the calibration error happened again. Strangely, I remember playing this on Win 95 years ago and the same used to happen then - the game would be fine and then every so often a match would be ruined by the controls pulling to the bottom right.
The odd thing is that Player Manager 2 works fine under DOSbox, no problems with the controls. It's only Player Manager 2 Extra that has issues. A shame really as the UI and graphics are slightly better than PM2. |
I have the same problem as bernarddryer, after I run the setup in dosbox, I type PM2EXTRA and it just crashes. No idea why, but I cant seem to get it running. Could anybody please tell me what i'm doing wrong.. I looooove this game

I would just like to further Sigmohon's comments earlier in the thread and confirm there was a far better PM2 Extra version than the one available on this site...
The highlights option to watch the games was superb. "Thats meat and drink for the keeper" I have so far not found an iso of it and am waiting with my Windows 98 virtual machine ready for the day i find it... I'll let you guys know if i ever do |
I can't get it to run on dosbox either.
When I enter pm2extra in dosbox to start the game, it waits for a short while and then quits dosbox. |
