(forgot about that one ages ago) :)

it's a great game but It won't work
It starts and than I get a black screen and than it dissapears do you know what's the problem? |
I really like Alladin and generally platform games (super mario land 1 is the best!!!). It has spectacular graphics and because I have played the Megadrive version of the game through the Gens emulator I have no problem with the save system. The worst thing is that it is too difficult so I could not get through lvl 3!!!
|
That was my favorite game on Sega Mega Drive.... *sigh* I miss Sega Mega Drive *sigh*
I got pretty far in that game, but I was so afraid of one of the levels.... Don't remember which or why.... |
Perhaps the one, where you are in genies lamp' level and there's good possibility to glide down and fall?
|
No it was some end-guy... huge, scary looking guy in the end of one level.... he had a big sword and I needed to throw something at him... The genie level is awesome! :D
|
This game does rock, I use to play it all the time on genesis I even got all the way to the end all by myself, :D . But I think the thing that really needs answering is the call of destress someone posted about how it doesn't run, I wish I could help, but alas I suck when it comes to figuring out compatibility details, so if any forum members can help Fatal, that'd be great, hehe,

My guess is that he doesn't use DOSbox. :?
|
You're probably right tom, you usually are when it comes to these things, :D

Give us your comp specs. Then we can try to solve your problem! If you have a good computer, and you are using XP, then you could try DosBox, available here: http://www.abandonia.com/utility.php For a guide to using DosBox go here: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.p...ation+of+DosBox |

 I am?! :? |
hehe, yep. At least from what I've learned, you seem to know this stuff since you've helped me out a lot, so keep it up bud!
-Sean |
Only one note: the PC version of Aladdin is almost equal to Genesis/Mega Drive version. The only very noticeable difference is the "top bar": in Genesis/Mega Drive, it is transparent, so, you can see more than PC version.
|
Alright...
Good luck with the game :ok: |
i have problems with the game... it just freezes after it launches... im using DOSbox and i have AMD athon 2600+, ATI radeon 9600 128mb and 512mb DDR-RAM
i also have tried Elder scrolls: arena... it worked but it crashed after few minutes |
Hmm...
your PC is fast enough...that cant be the problem.. Wich DosBox are you using?? (you need the latest version) |
perhaps not newest because i downloaded it when Bethesda made ES:Arena free :) and that was a long time ago... im now downloading the new one... lets see if it works then
|
I get a XMS Allocation Error when playing this in DOSBOx 0.63
I've tried several options with the SETSND.EXE (even no sound) and all files are writable... anyone has any experience with this? (System in not the prob: P4 3.4 / 2gig / Quadro FX3000 / WinXP) |
did u try right clicking on the .exe file and going into properties?
Click the "Memory" tab. Set all of the values in the drop boxes to the highest value available. Make sure that the "Protected" and "Uses HMA" boxes are checked. see if that works. Might help. i have xp as well and i had the same error message, but mine works now with the latest version of dos box. hope it helps! |
hey guys, i downloaded the game, and it works fine, but there is a sound problem. when i start the game all i hear is buzzing, kinda like when you want to log on in a dialup internet, any idea on how to fix this. Thanks
|
What system do you use?
And have you tried it under dosbox? |
I have a 3000+ hp pavilion pc. my O.S is Windows XP, i have a 64 mg bite video card, and no i havent tried dos box, becuase i dont know which version to downlaod and where to download it from.
|
You can get dosbox here.
|
okay. i downloaded doxbox, and i followed the instructions to run the game, but then in the final step, when you press "cd" and the name of the game, it just says "could not switch to category" or something, what do you think is wrong??
|
You're not supposed to write "cd" in the final step, just the name of the .exe file.
|
I just saw this fantastic page and remembered a lot of great games including Aladdin. I tried installing the DOSBox, as it didn't work without. Now the problem is, it still won't work  It gives me an error saying: "File load error...". What's this all about? I've marked all files and none of them are write protected. Is there any special changes you have to make in the DOSBox to run Aladdin? The directory is placed on drive D, and I've tried calling my mounting drive both C and D without any progress. What do I do? I would really apreciate some help. Would hate missing out this great game :ok:
|
Try,
Not quite sure if it´ll help, but since you didn´t indicate were able to use dosbox correctly, It is all the help I may provide for now /- |
Sure is an easier way to do it, but it still gives the same error. Still "File load error...". Why could this be? Do I need some of the files? There's no program for sound setup. Is there supposed to be? But thanks for the advice anyway, Wael. Settlers 2 are running nicely, chy won't Aladdin
|
type in dir *.exe in the command line. Then try dir *.com . There must be a setsound or setup file, however it is named. I remember having one in my copy, at least.
|
Same problem here...it doesn`t work...i open the .exe, and a black screen appears then windows go back...=( i would like to know how to solve this problem!
|
When i run it, with the DOSBox, the game eneter with `aladdin copy protection`, and asks a word on the manual, wich i don`t have...i need only that to run it!!! someone knows where can i get the the aladdin`s manual???
|
the question's already answered ... just press any key
another question from me: what do i have to do in the first cave level? (level 5) everytime i fall into water and i die ... isn't there anything to do? |
One way to get it working (simplest) if to simply drag the Aladdin executable (ALADDIN.EXE) onto the DOSBox executable. DOSBox will automatically mount the proper directory for you.
The documentation that comes with DOSBox is pretty good, and it explains how to mount directories on your disk to mount points in DOSBox's filesystem. This shouldn't be difficult to figure out. For the first cave level (I believe) you need to either jump across some sinking small islands or jump up in the beginning (onto the big slate that rises on a fountain) and grab a rope, then walk along. |
YAYAYAYA i did it I finally found the cheat mode (i tried thousands of different things before i found it but here) OK i hope you thank me for this :D (i mean dont get me wrong arcade games are SWEET but hey every body gets mad when they are on the last level then die and cant go back)
ok when you first open the game go to New Game and on the screen with the iteams and their explainations press the "~" button then wait for the screen with the lamp to appear where it says the level name and press "Backspace" then you have activated cheat mode so here are the commands. 1A-1M are the diffrent levels I= invincible toggle on/off A= five apples (you can press it more than once) G= Five Gems (you can press it more than once) well thats all i got right now but hey have fun :ok: P.S. now remember the name Dragonlace and PM me for any of your Cheat Needs :max: |
Quote:
|
Quote:
(Ex) 1A= level one 1B= level two 1C= level three........ so on and so forth till you get to 1M because thats the last level. O.k. :ok: |
So it's level skip. Your previous post could be understood as that the cheat code takes the player to different versions of the levels....
|
i have this game on sega genius and boy what a great game it is! i was fun but also really hard
|
Quote:
|
Do you still have that sega gensis ?
|
i'm *assuming* this version is the same as the SNES version
because as fate would have it, i recently acquired Aladdin on the SNES for a cool 2 dollars... the only problem is i completely forgot how to beat the first boss (the angry shopkeeper) i know theres a simple solution to this but i can't figure it out for the life of me :eeeeeh: |
um i installed dosbox to play alaadin but it doesnt run. it opens a window and asks me to install it everytime. can anyone help and tell me how to solve this?
|

do you know whats happeneing there? could you help me |

Run DosBox, then FROM it run Alladin. And then go through the setup. |
Played and finished it long time ago. Really enjoyed it. It gets hard in some level I don't remember the name, it's when you're running through caves and falling into rivers of fire (if the enormous rolling rocks don't hit you first) Once you get through that level the rest is easy.Very nice graphics
|
when you ever played the snes version, you have to download it, from the side that bring you the best gaming experience you ever had and need, --------> ABANDONIA! :kosta:
|
No asking for warez
-punch |
When I used DosbOX to run Aladdin, It appeared an error in Dosbox Screen :
Trying to rad undefined DMA Red C What does it mean ? And the game stopped at the loading screen... |
Heh, for me it works at WinXP, but not in Win98...
also, how do you use the "wishes" you get from a shopkeeper? |
If you lose all lives, your score / apples / etc is reset and you get a continue from the beginning of the level where you failed.
|
mine works at winxp and win 95
|
I hav the game exept it's a downoload and it's a sega so it is pretty bad and thank u for the response.
P.S. What do you guys think of Alladin?? |

just curious...but how come even though its esa protected, it can still be downloaded from other sites? And these sites have esa protection of other games but not this particular one?
|
Are you sure they respect ESA's request to take it down?
Some sites have agreements with ESA that allow them to distribute specific given titles. Others just dont give a damn for ESA and do whatever they like - that is, until they are shut down... |
Quote:
No, but copyrights do (95 years from the date when the game was made) |
Quote:
Only main company can give you permission to have their game on the site. Such persmission was given to some web sites by Team17 (Superfrog and some other games). |
We _used_ to have an agreement with ESA ourselves, remember?
|
this game looks better on sega. dos version sux hard!
download the gens2+ emulator and use "smooth screen" function. Graphics would be much better then in dos version. i've complited this game for 5 times on sega MD. |
I just wanted to drop in and share my experience installing aladdin. My setup: Pentium 200Mhz, 96MB Ram, Soundblaster AWE64, Windows 98se + latest Patches. The Game can be run directly from Windows but sound doesn't work like this. I then tried to run it from Dos, which gave me the dreaded 'XMS Allocation Error'. Dosbox allowed me to make it work under Windows with sound, but the machine is too slow for emulation. Searching the web I've found out that Aladdin has a problem with more than 32 MB Ram, this is the reason for the 'XMS Allocation Error'. With Dosbox you can limit the amount of Ram. But there is no possibility (short of physically remove some Ram) to limit that in Dos.
Sollution: Run it from Dos with the patched Himem and emm386 from the freedos project. http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/...m386/emmx20.txt . Download this file http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/...386/emmx208.zip extract Himem.exe and Emm386.exe to a folder of your choice and create an customized boot-up config.sys loading Himem.exe with the /X2MAX32 option. Aladdin will also need the emm386, add it as well. Problem solved. |
I have ran Aladdin in Windows 95 without any problem.
|
Is it possible to save a game in aladdin?
|
Nope, you'll have to play the game through from beginning to end without saving. That's what there're lives and credits for ;)
|
I really liked this game (still do).
Too bad you can't save, after a while it get's annoying to keep playing those earlier levels to get to the level where you ended last time. But still: Quote:
|
The game is great!

This game is cool. I recall playing this on the Genesis as a kid and had a blast with it. It appears that this PC version is nearly identical to the Genesis version - aside from the transparent border menu on the top in the Genesis version. And perhaps its due to DosBox, but the PC version is not quite as smooth and the resolution seems a bit off. I was successful in getting the music and sound to work with the PC in DosBox...which is a rarity. It is a bit tougher on the PC though...especially playing on the keyboard. When playing with a PC joystick, or rather a control pad, only 2 buttons actually work...therefore with the controller you can only jump and attack with the sword, but will have to hit the space bar to switch to apple throwing mode. A bit of a pain but....oh well.
Now, the SNES version is far superior. The game follows the same side scrolling platform format, but it features more colorful graphics, parallax scrolling background, the little monkey Abu guy runs along with you, certain objects you can grab on to that'll make you flip around, scenery objects are more interactive such as bouncing off on pots and stuff, and not to mention better music and sound. You guys should give it a try when you get the chance. |

haha, I think my problem is solved :D
|
WinXP users, for DOS memory related issues, please follow this simple steps:
-> Locate your Aladdin program, aladdin.exe in the directory. -> Open its properties page and go to the Memory tab. -> By default XMS is 0, change it to AUTO and save. It worked for me and will for all. |
this game doesn't work on my pc
i have the dosbox0.65 and i've chainged the XMS in auto but it still doesn't work :sos: when i open the game it opens a black screen and then it just dissapears.. but i really love this game!! and i want to play it! can anyone help me? |
First, re-download the game and see if that helps, maybe it's corrupted. Then, try to set ems=false and umb=false in dosbox.conf, both are often (especially umb) the problem behind some games not running when enabled.
|
i have downloaded the game
but when i open it says aladdin copy protection and i have to type a word but i dont know what the word is does anyone know? |
And you tried already to simply press ENTER and see if the game proceeds?
|
yes i've tried to just press enter
but it still doesnt work the screen just dissapears when i do that |
And if you type something random in and press then ENTER?
|
no that also doesnt work
i think i've downloaded the wrong version ore something can you give me a good download of the game pleasee? |
Did you try the version on Underdogs already?
|
Are you running it in DosBox?
|
can you please help me and tell me where can i download that alladin game...i am trying for few days and i yust dont have luck. i opened bilions of pages and i am crazy...help me....

Hi,
I've one problem on the first cave lvl. Can any1 tell me how to defeat the gold boss? |
It's not easy to instal aladdin with sound in xp, 98se not even in dos when system memory is >32mb.
Problem is solved finally (one thing is xmsdsk and another is not to setup cd-rom drive in dos), anyone who wish help, especially in win98se or dos boot-up can email me at: [BEEEP]@lycos.co.uk. D.F. Greetings from Greece |
This is the very first game I owned on my sega megadrive & it never failed to impress. Stunning animation, great gameplay & very funny :ok:
|
Remember playing this once or twice as a kid, I'm curious to play it again.
|
Yeah this was an ok game if I remember correctly.
Will have to try it again. |
Quote:
=sound willn't come =game will not play =it will run slowly its best solution is : to download and install "XBOX Ver 0.72" from xbox site it is free of cost , so download it ....... after its installation , run game from xbox , you will see that not only game will run but also sound, music will run.......... all the problems will be solved so with XBOX not only this game , but all old games will run enjoy, good bye :brain: |
XBOX? Did you mean DOSBox?
|
Played this zillion times on SMD2, the cheat was pretty easy..A,B,A,B,A,B,A something like that :amused:
I should try to pass it now fair & square! :o |
I'm not an English speaker so forgive me about the language. I have a question.
Where can I find the soundtrack for this version (pc)? It's very rare, because I can't find it in any site. Even in that site they play the songs of the genesis/mega drive version (that I can find without problem), but not the songs of the pc version. |
There are two MOD files ripped from the game, and not much beyond that I'm afraid.
http://www.mirsoft.info/gmb/music_info.php?id_ele=NzY= |
Correcting myself: the AMF files in the game directory can be played with WinAmp (with the right plugins). Level.AMF contains the music from all levels as one continuous track.
|
I actually beat the Sega Genesis version of Aladdin many moons ago with a sizeable crowd watching. It's funny how people can go wild over the strangest things... :) Felt like I'd walked on the moon that day.
|
The aladdin word for authentication
I got it on the first try...congratulations

I remember playing it on a monochrome screen and learning the boulder-chasing level by heart and synchronized gameplay, since all I saw was Alladin running around a black screen. (Red and purple translated as black in monochrome screens back then, good times:D) What puzzles me is, why it got ESA-protected, while the Lion King is still considered abandonware. |
Because Lion King was published by Westwood, whereas this was published by Disney Software.
|
I´ve play it only once in the mid 90´s I think, and didn´t liked much, I guess that isn´t my type of game.

Edit: Correcting my self as the VLC player corrected me and winamp suck for playing thos files even tho winamp can play tho files it dose a pore job. Edit 2: sorry if necro posting is frowned apun but https://www.dropbox.com/s/ocmt474k8o...evel.flac?dl=0 if some one can slpit the file in to the various songs that would be lovely. |
Wow, good to remember, game of my youth, great memories :D!
|
The game Aladdin was pretty cool, nice at the time. It had qualities to make a game very attractive as the background musics, the challenges, the theme of the animated film, etc.
But there was an error, or rather an unforgivable feature: there were no save point or passwords to skip chapters like the games Gods, Another World, Flashback, etc. :palm: :picard: If you were to die, you’d have to start over from the beginning of the game! It may not be scary, but it is quite annoying and unbelievable. Imagine you as Aladdin flying with the magic carpet and need to attack and deflect? There is no entertainment in that. Just for masochist... I would only give 2 because the Producer of the game has not released a patch to correct this “genius trait”. :headslap: |

Quote:
But you agree that it does not justify Disney omitting this feature, because for those more nervous and anxious, this game could be a real nightmare. In my opinion, what saves this game from being forgotten is the Background Music; and magic and fantastic universe of Aladdin. Bye-Bye! :hello: Branjo-Hello. :byesad: |
Actually, it have "retry" system, and it's quite generous... I believe, I beaten this game from 5th attempt or so. :)

By the way, new PS4 require you to try several times (try more than 10 times) until you can move on. I am in the line of thinking that what entertains me is not the difficulties and challenges, but the pleasure of playing, the story, the scenarios, etc. The current PS4 games look more like action movie scenes... It is very frustrating because I am not a masochist. :headslap: :palm: :picard: |
There are at least 02 Aladdin Soundtrack Albums available on Spotify... I would not know if they would also be available in alternative services such as Deezer and Napster. :dunno:
However, by analyzing the rating given by the number of users to the respective Apps and also the total download amount of the respective Apps on Google Play, leaves no doubt about the popularity and “superiority” of Spotify compared to its competitors. I just wish there was also the Instrumental version of Aladdin Soundtrack. Unfortunately, there are only the Vocal (Voice) versions. There is also Soundtrack from other Aladdin mpvie , but unfortunately the quality of the songs are not on the same level as the OST quality of the first movie. That would just be my personal opinion. |
