I haven't played it, Jacek, but it does sound like fun. There's another Castle Wolfenstein game onsite, too, Wolfenstein 3D. :)

I finished Return to Castle Wolfenstein a month or two ago and after seeing those screenshots I can't help but laugh. I must say there have been a lot of renovations.

Does anyone have spear of destiny? Is that abandoned? How can I get that?

Spear of Destiny is actually Wolfenstein 3D, isn't it? As Stroggy pointed out earlier, we have a buy link only for it as it is still being sold. I just read the plot for that one on Moby Games and it fascinates because I've read that this is what actually happened - to one degree or another. There is a book called the Spear of Destiny that claims Hitler came in possession of the spear that pierced the side of Christ while on the cross. The myth surrounding this spear was that whoever owned it would become invincible in battle. The story goes that Hitler came to power while having this spear and then when the allies over-ran Germany, they also liberated the miraculous spear. Not long afterwards Hitler is supposed to have shot himself. Whether this is true, or not, I don't suppose we'll ever know. But it is an extraordinary story and the basis for Wolfenstein 3D.

Not to mention that spear keeps superheroes away, Wendy. LOL

f__k Hitler! It was a great game. That damn freakazoid with the four arms was killer in that game. Really had my heart racing as I was not expecting him! My version of that got corrupted, so I've been without it since. I really hate that. I kept my 3 1/2 floppies in a case specifically for them, in a non-humid area at the right temps, and away from magnetic influences, and they went bad. Had I known this, I'd have backed them up more than once. I lost several games as to this, but the worst was my original x-wing. As I tend to repeat, I really miss the stuff they cut in the re-releases. Big mistake for lucasarts. I've been contemptuous with them since.

Is this a true story? Not likely. *laugh* The odds against that spear still existing, if there ever even was such a spear to begin with, are astronomically high. And to suggest Hitler had it and then lost it to the allies is also silly -- if that's the case, why isn't whichever country claimed it invincible? The US more or less lost Korea and fought to a standstill in Vietnam; the Soviet Union fell; Great Britain is no longer a superpower. But of course none of this is the point.........it's a fun story and that's all it's meant to be.

All opinions are welcome :) There are many myths that have sprung up about the Hitler era, including that he and the SS were involved in the occult and that he was actually possessed. Whether true, or not, it is interesting to consider these possibilities. Truth can be stranger than fiction...and usually is.

Could it be because Jones was usually on a quest to recover religious artifacts? In the first movie I think Nazi Germany and the SS played a big part in it.

Yes, it actually did exist. It was in a Museum in Berlin until Hitler got his nasty hands on it. He believed that it would give him great powers. The spear was used to penetrate Jesus when he was on the Cross. Then, it was passed down to Ceasar, who carried it in the same purpose as Hitler. Then, it travelled with people throughout the years, and it is sayed that also Napoleon had it. Later on, it was found and brought to the Museum in Berlin, and then, Hitler took it. And since then, it is gone with the wind. Amazing story, really. :blink:

Couple things

1 - the Keanu Reeves movie Constantine is all about the spear of destiny - it was kind interesting.

2 - I cannot for the life of me get Castle Wolfenstein working on my computer. I run it (even the moslo program) and it just sits with a blank screen. I'd LOVE to play this game again ( I can't tell you how much!! ) it was the first 'computer' game I ever played back in grade 8!! Can any give me some advice on getting it playing??

2.before i heard of abandonia i googled castle wolfenstien and how to download it and i found this place i think it was called wolf3dshrine.com of somthing, i'll google it again. and they also had this emulator that allowed me to play both the games castle wolf and beond castle wolf, and as a bonus there were colors that you could even change! :D the only problem was that if you ran into a wall it would go crazy and start bliping for about a second and that was a big proplem in combat because the soldiers would capture you. castle. I will say i remain loyal to abandonia its just i like this version better.

HOLY CRAP!! Awsome game! realy scared me there when that strom-trooper came out of that door! He killed me even though i had grenades. I got the other type of wolfenstien that whatshisface was talking about, then i played abandonia version till i died, (stupid storm trooper) then posted. Anyone kno if you can get a bullet proof vest in the abandonia version. I got one in the second chest i opened and you never die :D (they can still capture you though)

hi people i bought Spear Of Destiny on PC in around 92 i think and it was a seqel to wolfenstein 3d but it was just an exazct copy but different levels in a tower.

but, the link i gave a page back is in a place called wolf3dshrine or somthing like that, it is about wolf 3d but they do have a section where you can get beyond castle wolfenstien the sequal too the original you get too assainate hittler! what fun!

Believe it or not, I got stuck in this game. I got a map with no exit. I went through all the rooms and killed all the guards. Does anyone know what the exit looks like and whether there are any secret rooms in the castle? There seems to be 13 rooms in my castle and no way out! Please help!

Sorry, a bit of necro here, but this game didn't have randomly generated maps. They were static. I remember having an editor for it so I could make my own levels. So if you coudln't find an exit that's because there was a secret passage you had to activate. Look for suspicious walls (pictures framed by plants or something) and use the open comand on them. That failing, go to EVERY wall and press the open button.

Umm...Are you now talking about Castle Wolfenstein or Wolfenstein 3D? Those instructions sound a bit more like Wolf3D (Castle Wolfenstein hasn't got any secret doors, paintings or plants)

Has anyone played castle wolfenstien 2? its basicaly the same thing except you dont just have to escape, you gotta get in plant a bomb to kill hitler and get out... not easy. The sequal has the same graphics, but the strategy for killing guards changes, if they see you, they will yell at you to stop and they will come over too you. Thats when you whip out your gun and :sniper: everyone in the room. another thing that i liked is that is that you now have health, and you can take 2 bullets before you die. Also you walk and shoot slower when you get hit.

I remember a hack somebody made of this game called "Castle Smurfenstein", done by some people who REALLY hated Smurfs...

In the original version you could accumulate up to 5 passes and had to show them at check points. showing the wrong pass = alarm. guards prompted you for a pass when they saw(if alarm was not sounded or dead body found) you instead of just shooting you because you are there. you were also able to move dead bodies so guards did not see them. I believe there was a knife for stealth kills with multiple guards in the room. also there was a lock pick mechanism where you had to figure out the combo to doors/chests after getting the lock pick tools. There was also a medikit, not sure if this version has it. This version is ok but not worth playing compared to the real deal. Iwas hpoing to hear "Hause Pass" "heil" "comenze" and "Vassad". I don't speak german so these are all probably spelled wrong.

I think there may be a glitch in this game that crops up some of the time. After completing the first difficulty level, sometimes on the second difficulty level the game will keep track of who you killed so that when you die and respawn, they remain dead. Other times, however, the game doesn't keep track of who you killed as it's supposed to, meaning that if you die you have to start the entire castle over from scratch and kill every enemy again. It really makes the game way way too difficult, even on the second lowest difficulty.

Can anyone else confirm if this is a glitch or how the game is meant to be?
