LucasArts to milk more money!
In monday, LucasArts will announce another revival of a classic!!!
Was found out in Twitter, here is the proof: http://www.vg247.com/2009/07/04/luca...nt-for-monday/ I just love 2009 |
Well, keep us updated.. :)
|
Well it's Monday so we should know more soon!
EDIT: and I want to pistol-whip the guy who mentioned Rebel Assault. |
A couple of hints from Tweeter:
The hint: Not a new IP, but a treat for our old school fans. and the last hint: someone guessed it dead on. With that, I am off to bed. You'll know more in 12 or so hours. You guys are all awesome. Last hint was posted 4 hours ago, means about 8 hours left =D |
I hope it's not Day Of The Tentacle, like a commenter suggested. That really doesn't need to be remade. It was glorious when it was released and still plays just as well.
OH GOD THE ANTICIPATION!!! |
Well I wouldn't mind, it's OK to revisit these games once again.
|
Tick.
Tock. 4 hours. |
I'm dying to know what it is.
Maybe it's Maniac Mansion. :woot2: |
I hope it's not some Wind Commander bullcrap
|
Or maybe Dark Forces???? (Although that's already happening somewhat, with the ongoing creation of the Dark Forces Mod for Jedi Academy...)
Or Jedi Knight???? (But that's already 3D graphics and runs fairly well...) Or Rogue Squadron 3D???? (A version that runs on XP, perhaps???) Or X-Wing???? (That would be interesting...) Or Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis???? (If they remake this, maybe they could make it a FPS...) |
Now this sounds intresting! Hopefully it isn't Grim Fandano, it runs perfecto already!
|
Another tweet came a mintue ago:
1 hour left. Now I must go through my email and sort out the 2600 emails from Twitter, then draft the perfect Tweet for you guys. 1 hour left =DDDDDDD |

Hmpf... a disapointment... Though I did find this line: The Monkey Island celebration continues on July 15 when LucasArts publishes The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. A set date for the release of SOMI:SE. |
I was desperate for either a return to TIE Fighter/X-Wing etc. or for them to hook up with Good Old Games.
I have an irrational hatred of Steam, so find this announcement quite annoying. |

Oh god dammit. STEAM. Also, I guess we have to remove Loom then.

Do these guys actually produce anything new? :flame:
A decent remake would've been great. It seems that LA needs Telltale Games for something like that. Selling old software through steam is somehow.. uninspired. The cash cow moos again. http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/93/cashcowloom.jpg |
Steam is Ass, i've had to bloody uninstall and reinstall 2 times now, unstalling 7 GB worth of games and redownloading them cause of Steam not operating properly!

And now that they're finally, FINALLY, showing some sort of support to old classic adventure games, which you've always wanted, you guys give Lucasarts a middle finger, and even yelling "Do something new!".
You're all bunch of whiners, you know that EDIT: And red had to wrote article of that. Woah... |
I don't see how milking an old cow is support of anything.

THEN, like my article said, they canceled Sam & Max 2 and got the fury of many gamers on their neck. And since then, a gazillion Star Wars games have passed us by with not a single really good one among them so my respect for LucasArts has plummeted. The fact that they chose this moment to release their games, if you ask me, is because Telltale had to show them there's still a market because LucasArts were too much a bunch of console c*cks*ckers & cowards to find out on their own when they could. I mean, cancelling a game when it's 98% done (Purcell's words) and then refusing Purcell to take the game to Telltale games even after an offer of payment? Jesus. Telltale showed interest to make Monkey Island games and LucasArts probably smelled profit due to the increased attention the game would have gotten and so decided to remake the original. "Piggybacking" is the right word here. Either that or the president of LucasArts got kicked out and one who actually had a brain between his ears got put in his place. In any case, the sudden major shift towards adventure games is highly suspicious - Fate of Atlantis for free with a Wii game, Monkey Island remake and now oldies on Steam? |

one thing i must say about me not doing this easy to do thing! Lol, Im lazy! |

I wanted to try the demo version of Portal, can't do it w/o Steam and thus an internet connection. Problem is my gaming rig doesn't have one for speed and security reasons, and all my attempts at cracking the download have failed. If they're trying to discourage potential customers, they've got the right idea! :flame: |
Well it seems I was wrong :p their prices were only too high for their more recent games. €4 is a good price tag for the oldies. But I'm going to wait till they have uploaded all their classics and then I'm going to wait a little longer for a LucasArts pack to appear and only THEN I'll buy them :p
