i used to play this on the old amega 1200, probably one of the strangest platform games i have ever played however it is quite fun, a good hint is to never under any cercumstances get the "G" because it changes the word "bonus" into "bogus" which is very bad if i rember correctly

I remember playing this a long time ago.
While it was fun for a while, it tended to become a little pointless to me. And especially the lack of any way to save a game was annoying sometimes.
But it's quite original indeed, worth giving a try.

yeah , it's a fun and original game , but you can't save and that's a huge minus , would be alot more fun if you could save this game , i wonder if anyone ever finished the game LOL

I used to play this game too! I liked it a lot, and yes, the fact that you can't save it IS very frustrating.
I wanted to play the game again, but I can't seem to find the CD.
So I downloaded the program here but I can't seem to open it. It says insert TROLLS cd 1.
Can somebody tell me what to do please?

Never heard it uses a cd :blink: How do you try to run it?

well the only way I could try opening it was the DOSbox....and when the game "started", it only said that I needed to insert the cd...

Is there another way I could open it?

Nope, used DosBox too and it worked fine back when I tested it. I'll give it a try again.

I can't open it, I tried many times. It says "please insert trolls disc 1". I don't know what else to do...

This is what I did:
-I dl-ed the file.
-I unzipped it. (many "files" got created, and there was one that said TROLLS and it's an exe file, I copied it).
-I went to the C drive and created a folder named "oldgames".
-I pasted the TROLLS file in the "oldgames" folder.
-I opened the DosBox: "mount C C:\oldgames, then C:, then TROLLS" and it says "please insert trolls disc 1"...

Am I doing something wrong, or is there something I can do to get the game to start? Tnx.

Yep. Got to extract all files, not just Trolls.exe.

ok, so I extracted all the files and it created a folder "trolls" in "my received files".
Then what do I do?
(I pasted the whole folder in "oldgames" and tried opening it is DosBox, but it didn't work. Then I pasted the "TROLLS" file from the "trolls" folder into the "oldgames", but it said "insert disc one" again.)

I'm not sure if you ran it with or without the files in the same folder, so I'll list it step by step.

1) Download the game from the site.
2) Open it (usually with Winzip)
3) Extract all files to the same folder
4) Start up DosBox
5) Mount the drive you put the folder in (usually C:\ )
6) Go to the folder (still under DosBox)
7) Type Trolls and press Return.

If you follow this step by step, it should work fine :ok:

You know what, forget it. I don't want to be a pain in the a**.

I checked out a website about DosBox, and it said "* Dosbox doesn't support 16 bit graphics at the moment!"

I found this thing that fixed it!! I dl-ed a file thingy that restored missing files from the XP SP1! And now, it works!!! :Brain:

you didn't mention all the fun worlds. in newsprint world there are no colors, it's all black and white. printed media is a very serious business and is not related to any hallucinogenic drugs.

wow, i remember playing this game ^_^ i think i once pressed random keys on the keyboard and then all the levels were cleared (happened twice) and yould could go to the final level or whatever it was and then at the end there was his home or something... it was a long time ago

I have been searching all night for info about this game! I just started thinking about it for some reason.

I used to love this game as a kid, but I always did poorly. It was such a hard game! I still wonder what happens if you finish all the levels.

So i've just completed itt.....

went through the wooden at the end and the screen went black, and some music played...

i used to spend much time with this nice game;
it's good and not-saving should be considered as a feature, not bug ;-)
and what was really great - is the complexity of each level - i all the times have found something new;

hint; use yoyo to stuck on the ceiling ;-)

My daughter and I completed this game between us (on our old Amiga 1200, years ago) we couldn't wait to get to that last door at the top.... thinking it wal a final level... what a dissapointment, you just get a screen with a picture and writing telling you something along the lines of "well done"

1) Is there any way I can acquire just the soundtrack, or any way of ripping the soundtrack that doesn't require me to play through every level and just record it?

2) Any idea who wrote the soundtrack?

Did he do the DOS version as well? I know he did the Amiga version, but as I recall the soundtracks are different.

I got that, but all it has is the title theme.

I think there's an easier method for ripping the music than recording it manually. But you'll have to wait for the expert members, I'm quite limited in this area. :mhh:

i love this game and would like to play it, after many obstacles (lol complete beginner with dos) i managed to get to step where you need to install the game in the dos box.

when i type install as its described in the tutorial, it says: illegal command.

what should I do? can you help?

You don't need to install this game. What tutorial are you following? Anyway to get this game to run all you need to do is to use the trolls.exe (in dosbox that is).
