Strobe 18-12-2004 10:55 AM

i'd like to share some visual things i've done...

a flyer i've created for a party friends of mine and i organized...

(done in photoshop, the figure was created in poser)

EDIT: uups, a little bit oversized

Stroggy 18-12-2004 10:56 AM

Thats nice, do you use a palette?

Strobe 18-12-2004 10:59 AM

what exactly do you mean?

Stroggy 18-12-2004 11:03 AM

One of those palets with an electronic pen/brush

Strobe 18-12-2004 11:03 AM

here we go, another flyer for another party...

Strobe 18-12-2004 11:04 AM

i see... yes, is some parts of the picture, to "polish" it up a bit.

Strobe 18-12-2004 11:07 AM

now a more minimalistic one... it was for my birthday party this year...

Strobe 18-12-2004 11:14 AM

this flyer was created for our annual winter-lounge...topic "chillout-flight"...

Stroggy 18-12-2004 12:19 PM

Ahh, I always wanted a tablet.
The images are nice, clean.

Tom Henrik 18-12-2004 04:29 PM

You have a really nice sense of harmony both in terms of light, forms, and writing. Do you do it professional? For a living?

Strobe 18-12-2004 04:43 PM

thanks for your compliment, tom!

yes, i'm trying myself as a professional - to be precise, in summer i finished
my time as student, now i may call myself "diploma communication-designer"
and "master of european media arts"... but without a job, this title is merely
decorative <_<

at the moment i'm applying for jobs in new york city, but until something
useful turns out, i'm earning my living as a freelancer.

Strobe 19-12-2004 09:35 AM

today, i want to present some hand-crafted material i've drawn several years
ago. i liked pen drawings a lot, but since i concentrated more on digital art during
the past months due to my studies, i haven't done anything on paper lately.

the following stuff was done in a phase when my mood was a bit "negative" - as you
might tell from the motives - nevertheless i want to show it to you...

the first one's named "one step beyond"

Strobe 19-12-2004 09:40 AM

a second one....title "an accident on xtc"

Strobe 19-12-2004 09:42 AM

this piece is called "Adam's forbidden fruit"...

You didn't experience something...insteresting during that time ba chance?..

Stroggy 19-12-2004 09:43 AM

Very well done, twisted but nevertheless hopefull (in the case of the first one)
Good shading, too.

Strobe 19-12-2004 09:47 AM

@freefreddy:

what sort of experience do you mean...?
as far as the first picture is concerned, a good friend of mine commited
suicide... he was 17y old... it was hard for me to cope with this..

FreeFreddy 19-12-2004 09:49 AM

Ah, ok. My condolences for that.

Strobe 19-12-2004 12:26 PM

now another pen-made piece, portraiting fox mulder from the x-files...

Tom Henrik 19-12-2004 12:32 PM

It is a very good drawing, but something is wrong. (No, I do not mean his hair-colour - that would shine like that if a light source shone on it). Maybe it is the eyebrows. I think he had more bushy eyebrows. But overall a nice picture! :ok:

FreeFreddy 19-12-2004 12:34 PM

His lips are also a bit too large for a man. And yes, his eyebrows were little larger, too.
Good picture, in any case. :ok:

Strobe 19-12-2004 12:38 PM

i think i know what you mean... maybe i give it a try some day and correct a
few aspects in the picture...

anyway, thanks alot for your nice comments! :)

punch999 19-12-2004 12:57 PM

its good looking but i like ur digital work more

OmniRush 20-12-2004 05:59 AM

wow ... really cool ....

Strobe 31-01-2005 10:46 PM

there's another work i'd like to share with you. i've painted it with charcoal several years
ago... it's too big to scan it, so i used my digicam to take a picture of it....

(no explaination needed, i guess - anybody can figure out, what's being diplayed :D )

taikara 01-02-2005 12:03 AM

Strobe, this is awesome! You're technical skills are amazing, and your presentation is beautiful.

I'm sorry I never looked at this gallery before, I'm ashamed.

Where did you learn? Did you teach yourself, or did you take lessons?

Puffin 01-02-2005 11:44 AM

Woah this is incredible!!

:kosta:

Is that a man or a woman?
The breasts are that of a woman and the belly (Bauch) that of a trained athletic man. LOL
But hey, it's a great drawn picture. ;)

Black angel 01-02-2005 05:49 PM

It's almost looking like a photo.
Well, I can figure out what's displayed - some woman breasts on a man, no offense. :roflol:

Strobe 01-02-2005 07:16 PM

thanks for your nice comments!

@taikara:
i tought myself to draw since i was a little boy...it was always great fun, but there
were times when i had more motivation to do paintings, sketches and stuff...
during the last two years, i seldomly decided to do such things - it's a pity because
i really love creating drawings.

@free freddy and black angel:
this image is to be meant displaying the torso of a woman - why shouldn't women
have athletic bodies? i've tried to combine two types of erotic expression - sexuality
on one hand and sportive attractiveness, on the other.

Strobe 01-02-2005 07:46 PM

some of you may have noticed a portrait of x-files actor david duchovny, which
i have published earlier in this thread. there were some details in this drawing, which
i didn't like, and some of you confirmed my doubts.

this and the fact that i haven't drawn for quite awhile led to the decision to present
something new. i decided to draw another portrait of good old "fox mulder" and after
working on it during the last night i managed to finish it today.

here it is. comments are, as always, very welcome...

Well, I for my part don't like ahletic women. They're too unattractive to look beautiful, at least it's how I see it. Athletics is for men, soft beauty is for women, that was always the main direction of beauty for people in almost every age and in every country. Of course it wasn't always like that, in the Middle Ages people tended to draw ill looking women with weak proportions, but that came from the life in closed cities and weak health. ;)

And you complained about my gurl's bottom! Hypocrite. :bleh:
Great art :ok: You've reached an awesome level, you should seriously draw more often. :)

Puffin 01-02-2005 08:29 PM

I like athletic built girls. I think it's really sexy.

And I really like your drawings ;)

taikara 02-02-2005 02:41 AM

Sigh.

I should practice more often. Amazing. :ok:

Tom Henrik 02-02-2005 10:31 AM

Much better, Strobe. His lips are correct now. And the rest is also great! :ok:

wendymaree 03-02-2005 03:32 AM

I'm a big fan of david duchovny so I was thrilled to see such a great portrait of him here. Thanks, Strobe. You've really captured his mystique. Just one criticism, I think his eye (on my left) is placed too high. Awesome tonal work which really adds to the feel of the Fox Mulder version of David.

I read something he said in an article recently. "You can never be too humble, because no matter how much you learn, there'll always be someone who, although younger and less-educated, will know more than you."

Strobe 04-02-2005 12:20 AM

hi @ all!

about wendy's message:
it's great to hear that there are other people admiring the person of
david duchovny like i do! and i agree to your note about his left eye :)

as all of you are right encouraging me to practice painting more often,
i felt driven to do another try. this time i made usage of "water colors"
(don't know if this is the correct english term, but it's a direct translation of
the german expression...)

this painting is called "the three wanderers"

taikara 04-02-2005 02:05 AM

The colors... so beautiful and delicate, like a coral reef. You're amazing! :kosta:

Tom Henrik 04-02-2005 09:47 AM

My eyes litteraly popped out of my head when I saw that water-colour painting!

There is nothing I can say except that it is perfect!

Wael 04-02-2005 09:56 AM

Amazing...

I never thought watercolours could be used to create anything like that...
Simply amazing  /-

wendymaree 04-02-2005 10:07 AM

OMG Strobe your....watercolour...is...simply...wonderful. It reminds me when I looked upon a Monet in an art gallery for the first time. The colours radiated energy. So do yours.

Methinks you have talent.

N17R0 04-02-2005 12:17 PM

WHOA!
That is nice! Looking at that with the Cat Power song I have playing right now just makes it even better. That is some amazing talent right there!

Danny252 04-02-2005 01:28 PM

wow! At first I thought someone had set off some ultra-nuke and these 3 guys were running away from it.. then I read the slightly less interesting title..

Sean 05-02-2005 12:14 AM

Strobe i must congratulate you on some excellent work! :w00t:

I think you should do some more sketches :)

By the way is it just me or does Mulders hair look too long and big for his head in the second drawing? :tomato:

Once again brillant work and i hope you have fun creating more fantastic art.

Strobe 05-02-2005 12:30 AM

big thanks go out to all of you for your supportive and kind comments!
believe it or not but i would have never expected to get such great feedback
on my works! it's somehow embarassing that although i've neglected my
painting/drawing hobby so much, so many nice people are acknowledging
these few presented creations!

thank you so much! your input is really appreciated and for the sake of fun
and practise, i will try hard to keep on staying in touch with doing some more
art. art is fulfilling and it's a shame not to sacrifice a few hours of lifetime in
order to express it...

taikara 05-02-2005 04:58 AM

Please do, it's inspiring. There are so many different great artists here with wonderful techniques and backgrounds of all kinds. I want to try all sorts of new things I never thought of doing before, and retry some old things I didn't do so well at because of you all.

no, like i said i never hoped to get such resonance to my painting, because
although i'm quite pleased with the outcome, i can't estimate the opinion of
others...that's why i have posted it here, you know?

@freddy:
yes, i really painted it myself. it was quite difficult at first, but after a few hours
of making a rough draft, it began developing relatively clear and nice. it was a
challenge, no doubt about that!

TheVoid 06-02-2005 12:48 PM

OMG

You DO have skill in colouring and in creating magical effects :ok:
If you want to know the opinion of others....I can tell you mine:
please send me a bigger version! :kosta:

Strobe 06-02-2005 02:03 PM

thanks for your praise, void! :) do you really want me to send you a bigger version?
via email? or do you want me to replace the small version here in this thread?

TheVoid 06-02-2005 02:26 PM

Answered via PM :D

bohor 07-02-2005 01:44 PM

amazing.. expecially those sun "flames"!!

Strobe 07-02-2005 01:54 PM

thanks bohor! :) the sun was somehow the key element to this picture so i've
tried to work it out as detailed as possible...

this time i want to share a drawing with you, which have an immense emotional
value for me.

i did it about ten years ago, in a period of my life in which i felt like the person
which is shown...i just wanted to hide under my coat because i felt too challanged
and threatened by the things that were happening around me...

bohor 07-02-2005 01:57 PM

really cool picture...
anyways, what are you? an artist?

Strobe 07-02-2005 02:11 PM

that depends on your point of view...

i wouldn't call myself an artist. i like to consider my works mere expressions
of the state of mind i'm crossing from time to time....

actually, i studied communications-design, which is more computer orientated.
but i love to draw and paint since i was a child.

taikara 07-02-2005 03:50 PM

@bohor: Of course he's an artist!!! Being an artist isn't a the label of your occupation, it's the ability to create art! And Strobe definitely can create art.

Strobe, this last one is one of my favorites. I feel the same way often.

Black angel 07-02-2005 04:06 PM

There was time in my life also when I felt similar. I guess that's why I decided to turn to gothic back then. But now I have anything I could ever need, and even more.
*sighs* Such things change people always in a strong way...

Tom Henrik 07-02-2005 04:23 PM

*starts singing*

Love is all around...

yes, hm, I know it isn't... I was thinking from the ocupation kind of view..

Strobe 25-04-2005 08:53 PM

a few days ago i happen to dig out a small collection of VERY old drawings of mine,
which i believed never to find again. but luckily those weren't lost so i looked them
through... most of them appear quite clumsy, but this is not surprising regarding their
age. one of those is quite representable, though, so i'd decided to show it to you...

Danny252 25-04-2005 09:05 PM

that pic is as old as me

TheVoid 26-04-2005 05:40 PM

And you did that when you were FIFTEEN?

It's pretty darn good! :ok:

Btw, did you have any model, or did it from scratch?

NrmMyth 26-04-2005 05:59 PM

Man really cool pic!

Danny252 26-04-2005 06:21 PM

give it happy eyes and thats my dog when I come home..

Strobe 26-04-2005 06:43 PM

thanks for you comments, guys! :)

@ void:
a neighbour, who used to live next door, had a similar dog, but luckily, i've never seen
it in such furious pose ;). as a matter of fact, i had some bad dreams about it, though,
so one day i decided to try drawing it like this...i asked our neighbour for a picture
of his dog, but on the pic it had its mouth shut, thus i had to improvise a little :)

taikara 26-04-2005 08:36 PM

It's great to see art from you again, I've missed it :D

The doggy is a bit scary, but very well done. I love the clean blending and detailing on the tongue and maw. :ok:

TaloN 26-04-2005 08:38 PM

jesus i was just outta nappies when u did that LOL

very nice

Doubler 26-04-2005 09:26 PM

I've been going through this gallery and... I'm speechless  .
It's truly wonderfull, it is (of course you know that by know)

Quote:

thanks for your praise, void!* do you really want me to send you a bigger version? via email? or do you want me to replace the small version here in this thread?
Was about the awesome watercolour. Is that offer open for others too?

Strobe 27-04-2005 09:29 AM

thank you all! i'm glad you like the picture.

@ doubler:
of course - this offer is open to anybody. just send me a pm containing the desired
size of the watercolour pic and your email adress, and i'll send it to you right away :)

Reup 27-04-2005 10:11 AM

Nice one Strobe! :ok:

Tom Henrik 27-04-2005 04:45 PM

Got to agree. You have a lot of talent. I particularly love the nose and the spikes on the collar. That is some very very nice shading for a 15 year old boy :ok: :kosta:

Strobe 27-04-2005 10:58 PM

thanks, tom and reup!!

you know what makes me really sad is the fact, that when i was younger, i had much
more energy to put into painting and drawing, while during the last few years much
of this motivation has vanished. ok, studying and other things might be an explanation
for this regress, but nevertheless i do hope, that i will find the way back to my flow
soon.

your feedback is quite encouraging, so let's see what the future will reveal :)
thanks again!

Strobe 13-06-2005 05:14 PM

as i've mentioned in some of my last posts, i haven't drawn anything lately.
the last weekend, i was at home feeling quite bored, so i finally chose to
give my neglected hobby a new try...

the first portrait has been done rather quickly to regain the routine of drawing
a head. i know, it's very rough (especially the nose) but...oh well, it's an approach
after a loooong time without practice.
http://www.aktentaeter.de/abandonia/portrait-1.jpg

the second one has been done with more patience, yet it's far from being perfect.
http://www.aktentaeter.de/abandonia/portrait-2.jpg

troop18546 13-06-2005 06:17 PM

Damn... now thats art (the dawg and those faces).
Unique, cool, (insert marvelous word x1000)... :omg:

Somebody come up and give me a knock on the head to make me draw cause I am begining to lose my inspiration in art!!! :wall: Goddamn, I'm becoming lazy... :wall:

Stroggy 13-06-2005 07:03 PM

The first portret looks like Syrian president Assad.

http://www.worldpress.org/images/100703assad.jpg

Strobe 14-06-2005 08:33 AM

hehe, you're right stroggy. :)
the portrait resembles the pic you've posted, indeed.
(yet i didn't take president assad as model - still, funny coincidence!)

taikara 15-06-2005 05:12 AM

hmm

I agree, the first one could use some touching up, but I still love your technique.

The second one... gorgeous. I love the contrast, it's extremely well done. :ok:

And... as always, I love it when you post your art. It's so awesome to see such goodies from you :D

TheVoid 16-06-2005 01:52 PM

So do I!

Always nice to see someone of the old core come up with something new, and very good for being made from scratch!

I personally like the most the first one, it's just very expressive.
The second remembers me of someone, but can't tell who. Awesome job on both! :ok:
