:oUm I don't want to upset anyone by asking a dumb question...........but......how does the rank system work....:confused:..SAL

Actually, I think she meant the forum ranks.
For the moment, they don't really work. After the move all the old ranks were wiped and I didn't re-implement them yet.

Right now, any user below 30 posts is Junior Member. Any between 30 and 99 is Member (but the title says Regular). Any above 100 is Senior Member.
This is at most a placeholder, and will be eventually replaced.

:) Thank you 5th Horseman, actually what I wanted to know and probably didn't make clear was the rank noted on my account.It was 500 and something now its 606. What does this mean? I am just curious to know how things work:D...SAL

Pieces of eight: 0 (your rank: 606 / 19787)

It's related to your pieces of eight, you don't have pieces of eight so you have the same rank of the other people that don't have them.
Now the 606 rank is related to people without them.

19787 - 606 = 19.181 people with zero pieces of eight.

So, if a member with zero pieces of eight like you decide to answer correctly to a quiz (or upload a game or write a review...etc), he will earn a higher position than your.
So probably tomorrow you will lose other positions.

However we still don't know the full purpose of pieces of eight, now it's only a way to tag helpful or active people here.
By the way there were official competitions in the past, I remember that a guy won an IPod, well, I don't want to say that you'll be able to buy an IPod with pieces of eight :D, but maybe they will be more useful than now.

You will be tranported to an alternate reality that's precisely the same as this one, except there are no donuts. :P (not really)

There was some talk about using Pieces of Eight to access VIP content and such (not that there has been a VIP area since the move). I don't know how exactly it is supposed to work or when (and [b]if[b/]) it will actually be implemented.

I'm not sure if this was before, but work done for the site is calculated in pieces of eight. I have 150 and have never solved a screenshot quiz.

Of course not really. There the rain consists of donuts. Everybods knows this. :D


Someone with pixelart skills should do coin sprites, so we can depict everyone's wealth at an extra page. :cool:

:oOk...well I wondered about the screen being the same for so long...Just clicked onto the site.. I have been away for a while....and the game screen is DIFFERENT some kind of strategy game I think and I have been told that I have already had a go and will have to wait for 1 hour and 45 minutes!! BEFORE I CAN GUESS AGAIN...What's happening here...By the way I haven't (had a go at guessing I mean) And just as a matter of interest WHO WERE THE BEACH BOYS!!:confused:...SAL

You can only answer each edition of the quiz once. Entering an answer in the box and pressing Enter sends it.
Also, the box will automatically display a list of matches after you type in a portion of a name that matches something in the database (eg "Larry")
