Review and Download

Sweet looking Arkanoid clone :) But I wouldn´t call it a modern pong, since there needs to be at least two players in Pong. But anyway sweet looking Arkanoid clone :)

Hmm it looks pretty good :ok:

Well reviewer probably meant Arkanoid clone. And yet, Arkanoid is clone of the second video game ever, right after Pong, I think it's name was Bricks or something.

I don't mean to insult anyone, but perhaps someone could correct review a bit. Not just "pong clone", there are some phrases that are not exactly from english language. I doub that reviewer would mind much too.

Luchsen 27-08-2007 08:52 PM

You mean Breakout. But I think he meant Pong - Breakout is an advancement of that game's concept and Electranoid isn't a "modern Arkanoid" (that's when you change his review). Also I cannot see many mistakes or any not understandable terms - but that could be me.

[edit] The version offered is shareware. I have the full version. [/edit]

Sebatianos 28-08-2007 08:20 AM

The review is perfectly OK and yeah, this is a "modern Pong" as it said. I mean it's not acctually modern, but it's an upgrade for Pong (allowing you to play one player mode instead of being forced to play an oponent - like practicing tennis by using the wall instead of another player).

@Luchsen: Haven't noticed this being shareware. If you have the full version, could you upload it, so the archive could be changed?

Luchsen 28-08-2007 01:25 PM

I don't have played till I see it on the basis of levels, but there is a licence.doc and an order.doc ("The registered version includes 100 levels, more enemies, more music and is designed in an increasingly challenging format.") and no continue game code input/output, and the filesizes are smaller. Can you send me the login details for FTP via PM? It's difficult to get them by the "official" way at the moment.

Changed - thank you for the contribution (both the reviewer and the better archive supplier). :ok:

I'm not sure about perfectly OK...but it's OK.

Hey there's a difference between "perfectly OK" and "OK, it's perfect" ;) Anyway, nice to see you again FPJ. If this game brought you back, then the review was even more successful then hoped for.

WolverineDK 28-08-2007 11:24 PM

Perhaps Breakout was heavily influenced, and inspired by Pong. But, Breakout made its own genre which Arkanoid and Electranoid are part of. But still Breakout isn´t Pong, but it has probably derived from that game :) And I haven´t said anything bad about the game, or the review.

But it looks like, I am wrong about my assumption, that Breakout isn´t a single player Pong.

But still, I would not call it Pong. But since so many early games, can either be said. They derived from Pong, or were the first games in their own genre, then it is very interesting reading about it.

Heh heh, it wasn't this game that brought me back; I discovered a few days ago that I can suddenly access this site from work. I couldn't for a long time because it was blocked by our firewall/web filter/proxy server. I don't know what changed, but if it stays like this, I'll be around a lot more often. What did I miss? :)

A lot of things :)

havent played the game but it reminded me of dx-ball but this is definitely older than many breakout clones for windows.

Sebatianos 31-08-2007 07:02 PM

This game is ... OLD??? It's 90s man, it's practically still new if compared to early pong, breakout and arkanoid clones ^_^

Guest 31-08-2007 07:18 PM

i think it's nice, but it's sooo slow!!! why isn't it possible to skip all the "preparations" when you enter a level? it's so annoying that i stopped playing at level10 though i really liked the game (though i still think arkanoid is better ;) i loved the boss levels! :D )

Luchsen 01-09-2007 03:28 PM

Hold Shift (and read the instructions ^_^ ).
