Only if the creator gave them permission, otherwise they are in violation of the Copyright law.

A trademark protects words, phrases, symbols, or designs identifying the source of the goods or services of one party and distinguishing them from those of others.

IMO it's not any violation and they can have it. it would be if they used same colours and also the words ABANDONIA. and even then if they made it ABANDIYO it wouldnt' be in violation, cause at least two letters are different. :D

Unless this graphics is copyrighted/protected by the original author of space invaders. in which case abandonia would be in violation as well. but i very much doubt this kind of sign is copyrighter, cause there isn't wasn't much choice in graphics back then.

Then next question, is it a complete copy from Space Invaders, or is it made by one of our art ppl?

Abandonware France? Didn't know that site was up again. As for the logo, I don't think that could be called a theft, as long as we assume that Abandonia hasn't also stole it from Space Invaders.

Seriously...I don't think it could be a problem. This logo is a commonplace for all abandonware lovers... ^_^

I made it. And come one, it's a space invader. We can't possible claim a space invader as ours. Besides, we'll have a new logo and a character replacing the invader when we redesign the site.

Could it be a Dune I or II logo? I love Dune world...and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

The invader will still be around. Only less prominent. Another character which isn't related to a specific game will take it's place. The invader will have guest appearances. :)
