I don't want to sound dumb...but I am when it comes to some things regarding games. I do know that civilzation isn't a dos game and it is not "old" ...so roller caoster tycoon would fall in the same category...? I searched but it was never mentioned on the site..? Does it not fit in here...? Noone is interested in it..?

Sebatianos 17-11-2004 07:33 AM

Actually Civilization is an old dos game (the original anyway!).
Don't worry too much about it. Basically you can start talking about thigs/games that interest you or you need help with - but don't run wild on the board with a game you bought only yesterday and can't finish today...
If you'll really get too far away from the spirit of abandonia someone will let you know.
We have some great admins!!!

Eagle of Fire 17-11-2004 08:04 AM

Civilization is indeed a DOS game and is very old. There is a Windows version which is probably much newer too.

Roller Tycoon is still being sold. In fact it been reworked and you should be able to buy it in a store near you™. I remember seeing it a few months ago in local stores.

Rollercoaster Tycoon... now thats a game I've always wanted to play, ever since I played Theme Park. The new version is no. 3, and is out now I think as Eagle of Fire said. Well I am looking at an ad for it on the back of the latest Hyper Magazine, and it says out in November. I should probably get it, now that I have some money.

Yes but it's best if we limit ourselves to talking ONLY about abandoware, even in the blah, blah.... part of the forum :sneaky:

Is this just commom in my threads... :tomato:

Anyway..Thanks...That kinda answered my question and to answer someone else'sit is a great game. (the one I am most addictied too). Noone answer me if we could talk about it any games or just abadonware ..? (means in Blah,,...or some other specific spot)

auhsor 18-11-2004 01:54 AM

Well I think we can talk about games that arn't abandonware. It seems this forum is the most appropriate if they are not oldies. Just remember that this site is about old games, so most of the people here will be more focussed on older games.
Maybe we should make another section in the games discussion forum that is about other games... Such as a General Games Discussion. I think that would be a good idea, but we would have to find out if it is or not by asking Kosta.

Omuletzu 18-11-2004 09:37 AM

You can talk about new games as long as you don't say things implying warez
You can say how muck you liket it, give tips, etc.
And only in the Blah blah... section
or else :adminpower:

wormpaul 18-11-2004 10:09 AM

Or MODERATING Power...

From omuletzu himself :bleh:

Omuletzu 18-11-2004 10:31 AM

warez
???? Don't know what it means...so it probably won't be a problem.. but I still would like to know..?

Sebatianos 18-11-2004 11:06 PM

It's
It's illegal and pretends not to be, b giving another name for a game.
Oldware - old games - but still sold by the copyright owner (illegal to put up for downloading - because the owner of copyright loses money that way).
Abandonware - old games - that the copyright owner abandoned (no money loss for the holder of rights, because he's not selling the games any more - might be an ocasionaly in dispute about legality - but it's not illega).

Squalidangel 18-11-2004 11:19 PM

Thanks for clearing that up for me... :ok:

auhsor 19-11-2004 12:53 AM

I havn't heard the term OldWare before, but I know that in most cases Abandonware is illegal, regardless of what we think. Its just that the company is not going to go out and stop us because either they couldnt be bothered or it would cost money, or the company is no longer.

I still think abandonware is right tho.
