Oh how cool you are.
I think you're a bit bragging, aren't you. |
I have one (1) PC
|
It's interesting to know what people have, because it's a good reference for asking for help, or tips.
Or, you are too shy to tell us about stuff you have. :D |
I own:
-Nintendo Entertainment System -Super Nintendo Entertainment System -Nintendo 64 -Gameboy SP/Color -Sega Genisis -Playstation 2 -Nintendo Gamevube -Commodore 64 (need a tv connector though) -Macintosh Quadra (can't remeber model, 600 I think) -Macintosh SE (harddrive broken) -Macintosh PowerMac 6100/AV (No OS due to broken cd-rom) -Macintosh PowerMac G3 (well, I don't "have it" should arrive in 1-3 weeks) -A old pentium 1 I had since I was 4. -A Tobisha Sattelite P1 laptop -A Emachines P4 1.5 GHz pc Thats all. Nice colection Ioncannon!
I was thinking to get Amiga, Atari ST, Apple][ and C64, but wife would kill me if I get another one. :rifle: :tomato: :D |
I own one PC, a latpop and the original PONG.
that's all. And I have emulators of all platforms inside the PC. |
I was thinking of buying a DDR machine. Then I though, how would I sneak that in into the house LOL.
|
Some people like to have real console/computer. :D
Using emulator makes most of games easy, as with most of them you can save anywhere. (A lot of times that's nice feature, as some games got bad save points) Ok, if I have question about emulation, I'll ask you. LOL |
emulation is ok, if you want to try a game and can't find/afford it, or don't have system (this is for old systems mind you). They most hasstle I find is Mac emulation. Finding a Mac BIOS ROM i hard.
|
I myself have
A laptop Play station 1 Sega Mega Then mom has A laptop few tower computers ... |
I currently have one good PC and a Playstation.
I already owned previously and have experience in: Coleco Vision Atari 2600 Nintendo Entertainment System Sega Genesis (without CD and not MegaDrive) Super NES Nintendo 64 Playstation (one) 286 (PC) 386 (PC) 486 (PC) |
At the moment I have 1 new PC (P4 2.4) and 1 old (Pentium 100).
Also I had before: Super Nintendo NES Gameboy Gameboy Pocket Dandy (some 8 bit Japan console, similar to NES in selection of games) Commodore 64 |

|
I have here in Croatia:

was amiga made by commodore? And isn't that a rank or some Japanese word?
|
Oh well,
I have a few PC's One is 3GHz 120 G - HD with LAN conection dual boot Win ME / Win XP (some games just won't play in XP) (and one hell of a sound system - for the movies on a 19' monitor - in a small room) 2 old PC's - 486-DOS and Pentium1-win95 And a laptop - it's actually Rainwife's but we share everything so... and a Commodore 64 - with a disk unit (still running, still playing just for the fun of it). |
Quote:
Commodore made more than one computer although C64 and Amiga are best known. They also made C128 - as far as I remember the first dual boot computer! And I don't think Amiga is from Japanesee - I'd say it comes from Amigo - spanish for friend (I guess it would be a feminine friend - Amiga)! Who speaks spanish? |
One of my teachers told me there is a site that uses a C64 as a webserver. I like to play around with different OSs so tha one reason I have all these things. OSs I used are:
-Windows 3.1 -Windows 95/98/Me -Windows 2000/xp (both) -Windows 2003 (ever version) -Windows Longhorn -Windows Ce and Pocket PC -Linux Mandrake (Version 7.0 and 10.0) -PHLAK -Linux Suse -Mac OS 6.0 -Mac OS 7.0-7.5 -Mac OS 8.1-8.7 -Mac OS 9.0 -Mac OS X -Storm OS (A OS made by a guy named Thunder, still in development) -GEOS (for c64) Damn this thread is makin me bragg to much LOL :bleh: Oh yea forgot -Windows 1.1 and 2.1 -Ms-Dos 5-6.22 |

Amiga = girlfriend in Spanish
I used to have (in Germany) Amiga 500+ with added hard disk controller and 1.5MB ram. It was awesome gaming machine. Commodore made a lot of different computers, like Vic10, Vic20, Commodore C16, 64, 65, 128, Plus... and couple business machines (that's what they did originally). |
I need to buy a new pc here are the reasons:
1. Too Slow 2. HDD is on the brink of death (got corrupted 4 times) 3. PSU is on brink of death (I get strange letters/colors con BIOS and XP startup screens 4. HDD to small (use up space in 1 day) 5. Can't run ne games (even with a new Radeon 966 it to crappy, runs Doom3 ok in VERY low settings) 6. Fans screwed up makeing the thing sound like a boeing 747 |
Btw I had Nintendo and terminator too
|
my school still has Commodore monitor used for video editing rofl

Can you find out more? |
oh yea my dad owned a looonnggg time ago, a... for got the name nicknamed TRASH.
Sadly he left the school this year =\ loved talking to him about computers and old junk. LOL he got pissed at me cause in his tech room there are old ass pcs, one which was working. I put zork1 and 2 on it, and prince of persia. It was hard to find a game for it since it had 1mb ram. I put wolf3d on it and people would't work but play wolf3d LOL. he then ordered me to delete it  . Funny though since a quarter of the class is huddled around an old pc playing wolf |

how is this possible?????????? it can only run up to 8.1 since every hing else needs a PowerPC processer which Basilisk doesn't emulate!
|
does it look like this?

Something like that (for me all of them are the same, know much more about Amiga Workbench), but I have to check what version is tonight.

Exactly my thoughts. Easy and stable. Though you would need a good gamepad for the games first...
|
Even I got nice arcade stick, couple of nice game pads on my PC, play station USB converter, it is nice and comfy sit in the living room with couple of the friends and play some old games on the TV.
You can add nostalgia to that, too. :ok: And still I did not say that there is nothing wrong with emulating, but also nothing wrong with using real thing. |
I created separate topic on emulation, and lets this one be hardware only topic. :)

Dell PC
N64 Gamecube GBA Sega Genesis NES |
Why is it that so many people want a console? The controls are clumsy the graphics are oudated the moment the console hits the streets and to top it all of a PC is so much more versatile.
Is it that you (console owners in general) find it more convenient? Is it more of a group activity? |
Generally when you play game on console, you are playing in comfort of living room, which is nice.
Another nice feature of console is that you don't care about comp ability issues, or is your console fast enough to play title, does it play in this version of windows, this service pack... Console made playing of the game simple turn on and play. And I would not say that graphics are outdated, and don't know how did you get that impression. |
And you always can take it to George downstairs to play a litle w2c or whatever yoou want
|
I don't own any consoles that I really use (I have a PSone but I don't use it much) but when I'm at a party round a friend's house consoles are more ideal for playing as a group and is more convenient (no installing or anything, you can bring a game round a friend's hous and play it without having to install, also on that issue, you do not have to worry that a game will not work becuas eof RAM, processer etc.). For playing games in small groups and at parties consoles are ideal, they're also cheaper.
|
PLus you buy your console and you dont worry about the update-buying a new video card etc.
|
Today more games are made for consoles then for PC.
|
well hehehe cosoles can't play: half life 2

I read about the new consoles (PS3, XBOX2) and the kind of hardware they are getting. It is not better then a mid to high range PC has now and that's before the consoles are even launched. The nicest things in there are the new generation DVD drives (blue ray, HD-DVD). To each his own of course but I will never own a console myself. |

Don't know the specs, but to have nice frames per sec ratio it needs a speeeedy computer... See the point? :max:  |

Can you compare mid range PC's specs to the XBox, and then compare same game on both systems, you'll see that game works better on XBox, because it was much easier for programmer to concentrate on one system, not thinking abount if gamer will have NVidia or ATI video card. At the time, PS had much lower specs of any computer but it had much nicer graphics and playability! (custom chip sets) So, I would like to say that you can not compare these two things like that... |
To be honest I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to building my own computers.
I try to get parts from all over and stick them together to get a new system going. Just a few months ago I upgraded from a P4 1.6GHz to a P4 3.0 complete with new motherboard, DVD-burner etc. in the original 1.6 tower. ...only to spend more time adding stuff from the old 1.6 in a new tower, than I actually spent using the 3.0 one... Can't get that feeling with a console, though I actually own a PS1. Well, we all have our weak spots, I guess :D |
Consoles do not run faster then PC because they have better chips it's because they run the games on a lower resolution and use smaller textures. A console only needs to show it's stuff on a TV and those are far worse then a PC monitor. If you want clear graphics you'll want a PC.
Sure a console is cheaper but part of that is because they give the hardware away. The games are a lot more expensive generally though and you get a lot more functionality from a PC then a console. |
We all can have our opinions. ;)
I love 'em both. Using PC for strategy game and my console for RPG like FF and also fighting games like tekken4. Also most of the games I am interested in are for PS2 (GTA, FFX, Tekken4, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider...) so that's the only reason that I don't have GC or XBox, but looking at getting those later (one of these combo packs) just to play metroid and couple other games. All new releases for PS2 are bellow $50, while Doom3 sells for $55  So price of computer games is not that better... (in my opinion, both are a bit overpriced) |

Consoles are a curse for PC player (thief 3)
