Wow this game looks fabulous! :ok: :ok:

It is very good for it's time and has nice atmosphere. The only bad thing I could mention about it - there's no game map at all, aside of that in the city. Therefore it's more than easy to get lost on the no-city levels. That's why I stopped to play it then. But hey, if anyone has some maps of the game to offer, I'm sure they'll be appreciated. ;)

Nope, it doesn't have Polish in it, but I found another one. I was able to translate almost all of the explanations in the maps, but some words not so if someone knows it, feel free to work on the GIF maps. I uploaded them to my FTP accout now.
Also there're only 3 of them and I believe the game has more levels. Unfortunately this 3 Polish maps were the only I was able to find so far. Perhaps someone better than me in searching would try to find more of them? :angel:

Of course it does. Windows XP isn't really friendly to old Ms-Dos games, you know. Just play it from DosBox which you get here, on this site: http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=programs

There is a compatibility icon for WinXP .... so it must run with XP :)

Hey guys, I was looking for the maps for all non-city areas in Ishar3 too, and it looks like http://solucje.ag.ltd.pl/ishar3.htm is the only place that has any. Not all, but it's better than nothing. As for the polish words, I can help you with that (I'm from Poland).

Map #1 (Time machine)
Brama czasu = Time gate
Kwiatki = Flowers
Maszyna = Machine

Map#2 (Dungeons in the future)
Drzwi lub przejście = Doors or passage
Iluzoryczna ściana = Illusory wall
Przejście tylko w jednym kierunku = One-way only passage
Wajcha = switch
Płyta naciskowa = press-plate
Klucz - Key
Zegar = Clock
Trujący gaz = Poison gas
Brama czasu = Time gate
Klatka z Thiną = Thina's cage

I hope that helps. If you will need to translate something in Polish, use this site: http://portalwiedzy.onet.pl/tlumacz.html . It translates single words only, but can be very useful sometimes.

For some people the compatibility mode helps. For many others it isn't really helpful. Neither it's for me, so why not using DosBox instead? That is, if the PC is fast enough for it. ;)

I finished all 3 parts with a walkthrough. :/ The graphics and atmosphere were great, but the games were hard and unforgiving and full of bugs, like half of the Ishar 2 text was french!

Sounds great to me, I can brush up on my french at the same time as I play! ^_^

Ishar and DSA are the best game i know.

Well I guess you're trying to run the game under WinXP (right). Try DOSBox instead.

i´ve got a big problem near the end of the geme. im in the forest (+50) talking to
thina and zoltar´s grandson , but he won´t give me the golden key which i need to enter the last dungeon. can somebody help me? or is this just a bug and i can start the game from the beginning?

One tip. If u kill the great guardians in the rich city with magic, u can have lots of money and the asholes even dont attack u.

I have a problem... My version of this great game has a protection. When I enter the Theatre, the game demands password (the word from the manual: word, line, page). I've downloaded manual from internet in pdf file, but when I enter "the word", it does not match. It happens all the time.

By the way, if you have any problem with polish translation, ask me, I come from Poland and I'm a great fan of the Ishar series!

We've got the English version here for download. Menu is in german, rest in English.

But you just made me recall that I've got a full english version back in the days from the Gambler magazine (you remember it ? crashed in december 1999, but in that same year they have published a number of full versions of Silmarils games on their cover CD's)

This game wont work for me in windows, nor in dosbox!

When i drag the START.exe over dosbox to run it something flashes up on the screen behind it that displays the clock cycles and stuff saying something about "protected mode", but i cant read it all cos it disappears again.

Don't drag the start.exe over DosBox, just start DosBox normally and mount the folder where the game is in. And then type in start.exe, I guess that should help.
The problem I think is that start.exe is started, but can't find all the files of the game it needs to run as it's started out of the folder, separatedly, if you know what I mean.

I tried running it by manually mounting the drive, but it still doesent want to work.

What's the error message?

Also, what exact commands and syntax did you try?

When I double click on START to run in win XP i can make out an error message saying "INTERUPT 0DH GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT". When I run it in dosbox it says something about "protected mode"

As for the commands I just used:

mount c c:\Ishar3

Then I typed START to run the prog

Weird. Try reinstalling DosBox.

I tried it but it don't work. Youre right it is sort of weird when no one else seems to be having to much trouble with it.

FUNDAMENTAL E R R O R IN ISHAR 3

When I played Ishar III - ENGLISH version I found BIG ERROR.
It's "hidden" in episode with " son of zoltar in the forest +58 "
When I met him , he should say some story and after give me a GOLD KEY to
the dungeons with Sith BUT ... After sentence " Hello ... when I was in mother womb ..."
Nothing happens . I start From the same moment In FRENCH Version and ... IT WAS OK,
he told all story and gave me a key.The error is in a text file called MESSAGE.IO.
I thought the file has been damaged BUT I downloaded many ENGLISH versions from many SITES
AND ... Every ENGLISH Version has SAME ERROR.
More Over I checked in HEX Editor and I found interesting thing . There is second block
of text it begins not " Hello ..." but " Warm Tear ... " and after that there is rest of whole story.
WHY DOES IT NOT WORK ? ? ?
Maybe somebody know something about that , and know where to find ENGLISH version WITHOUT ERROR ? ? ?

Well, as you said - every english version has the same error.
It's quite possible that this is a bug that occured in the game production.

for the best performance my recomendation is use amiga version of ishar 3.
To do this you need: AMIGA 1200hdd or,
Winuae, Ishar 3 AGA in adf files , kickstart 3.1 A1200 ROM, and workbench OS 3.1.

winuae configuration is: CPU= 68EC020+FPU with "more compatibile" option
Chipset=AGA with defalut options
ROM= KS ROM v3.1 (A1200) rev 40.68 (512k) or better
RAM= Chip 2 Mb Fast 8 Mb
Hard drives=device-dh0 volume named as sys
device-dh1 volume named as work

when you start real or emulated amiga with hdd, first install workbench 3.1 on dh0 partition, make dir on dh1 partition named as ishar3 or whoever you want and copy all files from game disks to this drawer.
Dont use orginal ishar3 install aplication, becouse it has many bugs and game will not run.
After copying all files, restart amiga or winuae and "start with no startup-sequence".
in amiga dos window write: loadwb and press enter, after this you will see small info window, click CANCEL
three times, next write: endcli and press enter.
Now you have pure amiga system with over 2 mb of chip memory wich is needed to start the game.
go to game folder and press start icon, game will run, next click on language and silmarils logo.
Attention!!! don't press ESC key when you see the game demo, if you press ESC,game will not run.
Wait and watch the demo until you see game menu, then you will know what to do ;).
Amiga version working 3 times faster than PC version and it contains less number of bugs.
so if you have WinXP, better is use winuae-amiga emulator instead DosBox

anybody know why i can't get the game to start in dosbox?...i installed the game to "CDDRIVE", and it's in the directory. but when i type start it keeps sayin "illegal command"...anybody know what to do?

Are the mounts configured correctly?

Hey guys, I just found this site a few days ago and it brings back all the memories I have of games I started out playing in the early 90's, its a wicked site and great work! I still have manuals, disks and early cd's of many of a few of these games!

A small issue I have with this Ishar 3 copy, (I have the english version on CD that doesn't work with Dossbox on my system), after installing the latest dossbox and downloading the abandonia copy, I find that the game has no sound in dossbox (everything seems set up fine) and the shops have no text in the popup windows. ANother funny thing is that the intro on this copy is different to the one on my CD, but while this copy does run, my cd copy has an issue with running MAIN.IO file in dossbox.

Looking at the copy on here, it has a bunch of fewer files, seem to have no sound files that I can recognise, and I have a hunch that its the german version someones translated into english (why else for the german mainscreen?)

If any of the admins want, I can send them the files of my CD for Ishar to see if they can get it to work, the complete adobe manual (in english) and the complete list of english password protection codes :)

I'm going to try and re-download ishar 3 from here to see if it was just my download that bugged up.

I'v downloaded ishar2 and ishar3. Ishar2 is working with no sound and very slow, Ishar3 completly don't want run. I'm using laptop: Pentium 4, 2GHz, 512 RAM, NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go. What is wrong? I need to configure my machine or something else?

The Ishar series - like most of games on Abandonia - were made for DOS rather than Windows. To run them properly, you need to use either VDMSound or DOSBox.
We have a guide for newbie DOSBox users stickied in the Troubleshooting forum.

Btw: i've got an additional blue key in the north part of Koren-Bahnir killing thiefs - instead of money bag :) The key is useless, or am I wrong....

Ishar 3 is purchasable within the Ishar Compilation on GOG.com, so please don't ask for downloads of the game. :)

I do believe it includes a French language option, BTW.

If you buy trilogy from gog.com, can you play all three games normaly on win xp, with sound and everything?And what about that bug un ishar 3 with the gold key?
