ImagiNation Network

Ok... I uploaded this game and Hopefully in the future I will work on getting some cheats and other stuff, I have also made this as a wallpaper: http://i909.photobucket.com/albums/a...background.jpg (Thanks... Chris!) also if anyone can find any INN stuff that can be uploaded as extras, feel free to...

Has it been down the last few hours? I've connected successfully once, and since then no go... rebooted, changed public IP address, tried a different avatar, etc.
|
yeah.. doesn't work for me neither. the servers at innrevival go down sometimes, as you can see on their message boards
i'm not sure if you can host your own servers, but you might find it if you browse the google group edit: just checked and there is no custom server application. also, you won't get much of response on their boards, even from other people who play it, because their google group settings are retarded and posts cannot be posted without moderator's approval first. normally there wouldn't anything wrong with it (almost anything) but what makes it a really horrible mistake in their case is the fact that moderators are almost never online. and didn't seem to be online since march |
Wow! Super! Amazing! Cool! :woot:
I'm a big fan of classic Sierra Online stuff. I've seen ads for this in the old Sierra Interaction Magazines. It's great that I can have a chance of trying it out now. I downloaded the install, and set up my profile. It's stuck at dialing up to the network... Hopefully the network is just down temporally and will be back up soon! |
Accessing via DOS
Is it possible to play this game on a real DOS computer? I've got my old dos computer connected to my network and the internet. It would be cool if I could use it to access an MMOG like I do with my Windows 7 machine!:mischief:
|
I believe it was originally meant to use serial port modems. That might be something of a problem.
|
The server is on now, so it works! Cool! :OK:
|
Say....I havent tested this out myself, but If it works really well, could this have potential use for next Abandonia contest? Unlike in the case of Blood or X-com, I doubt Activision is ever gonna put this back on market, so anyone could download and participate.

...
If there's no one logged in, does that mean the server is down, but I can still explore the areas? Btw, I'm very excited over this one. I haven't played the damn thing since probably 1993.
|
nope, server doesn't go down when all people disconnect, it stays. why would it go down?=S
and of course you can explore the areas too |

er, yes, when there is noone it means that noone is logged in =l
it's not like million people played a game from 1991. sometimes there are, sometimes there are not. you can always try playing with your friends |

There's got to be more people that played this and remember it fondly but aren't ware of this project. I would recommend (myself included) to go to as many game forums as we post at and and make people aware that INN is back.

What's the password and how can you acquire it?
|
You just need to enter any six random letters or numbers into the password area. It is a feature from when the game was active, it now no longer works.

I just made a video explaining the ImagiNation network, as well as the games on it and such: i'll be posting it within a week or two on my youtube channel with 89,000+ subscribers, I expect some 1,000 to 2,000 or so gamers at least will join the service and check it out.
Is there anywhere you recommend as far as forums etc. to link the videos at, like forums that are dedicated to the inn revival or? I played on this back in the day (i've even got the install disks for it, and yserbius/twinion) so i'd love to see it be populated again :) |
Here and http://groups.google.com/group/innrevival are the only two I can think of.
|
A discussion has been opened into our special Multiplayer section "Mêlée Island", if you are looking for players don't miss the opportunity!

Made that video finally:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvVaey24faU Going to try and get this place going again with lots of people, the last game I advertised this way got something like 3,000 new people joining it, so let's hope this happens here :) Future parts of the commentary cover mainly the Shadows of Yserbius and the gameplay within, there's two more parts after this. Spread the link around, get more people into INN again :) |
good vid. and you should totally get someone to play the shadow of yserbius mission with you in your next video

Is the server down right now for anyone else?
|
Their server can go down at times. It has nothing to do with us at all. I no longer have the game installed to check if it is down for me too, but sometimes you just need to wait a few hours for it to come back.

I downloaded the inn revival client and managed to get it working online. HURRAY! I managed to play a couple of quick rounds of Shadows of Yusaria and managed to die rather quickly. I also downloaded the game manual for the game and gave it a quick look through. The only thing i need now is a build for the barbarian profession as i don't know where i should spend my points, and as stated on the manual once they are spent they are gone forever. So i don't want to put points in the wrong stats and possible end up with a useless character. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Zunafux |
Sorry my friends, the server is completely and down the one person that has the server code is not willing to let it go

It was fun making this video, although I haven't played this since... Really remarkable game. |
There has been a recreation of the original Imagination Network server software from scratch running for a few months now called INN Barn ( http://innbarn.com/ ). It was designed to restore some of the functionality of the former DOS servers. It's been created and hosted by Jim Leiterman who worked for INN back in 1994-95. In addition to the server, he has programmed the proxy interface for Windows to connect to said server.
We can now play with friends in Cawdor, Twinion, and Yserbius along with most of the INN games inside of Dosbox running the original Imagination Network client software for free. You can download a setup package for windows that includes everything you need to connect and play. It's provided by the Sierra Help Pages here: http://www.sierrahelp.com/Misc/INNBarn.html Basically, you run the innproxy on your PC, you run the INN software in DOSBox, and when you connect to INN it connects to the running proxy as if it were the old dialup modems we use to use in the “old” days to connect to the INN server. Also to note Linux users can run the innproxy in WINE pretty well. Hopefully, we'll see some of you people in Imagination and the 'Cano' ! |
