16 Hours straight 2day    :help:

Danny252 19-03-2005 07:29 AM

I believe I suffer from a severe case of computer addiction. I even program it to do my maths homework.

Classic Pig 19-03-2005 09:22 AM

I would gladly take all my savings, put them together and buy a nice gaming PC instead of putting them to a good use. Yes I am an addict! If I could play without sleeping for all time I would! The real world sucks! :D
Seen the cossacks advert? Check this out - it could be me! Click on the video...
Me and my PC :sneaky: :ok:

Yamcha 19-03-2005 09:23 AM

Of course!

Iron_Scarecrow 19-03-2005 09:43 AM

Well I'd say I am but I could never use it for 16 hours straight. I can't even use it for 7 hours straight. Me and my friend went to some internet cafe and he talked me into playing for 7 hours, after 5 and a half hours I was laughing in a drunken stupor. LOL

TaloN 19-03-2005 10:41 AM

ive played morrowwind for about 14hours last weekend, started a new character - went on a rampage killing every person i saw in every town. was ammusing.

Sean 19-03-2005 10:44 AM

Is Morrowind Free?

I think we are ALL very sad sad people.... 14 people who willingly admit tbat they are computer addicts!

And now some silly person will come along and vote NO just to be different!

TaloN 19-03-2005 10:56 AM

Elder Scrools III: Morrowind

no its not free, was produced by Bethasoft and is a single player RPG. you can probly get it at amazon.com/.co.uk or play.com.

I'm addicted to my PC, cause I have the urge to play games everyday when I have the chance. I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed it!
Sometimes, when I cant play, my head hurts or I feel dizzy.
Dont picture me as a freak, but hey - s*it happens.

Lizard 19-03-2005 11:38 AM

You are in forum full of computer geeks. And you ask if they are computer addict???
Of course! :ok:

Ioncannon 19-03-2005 01:54 PM

I am an addict, It is also an extrem addiction. I literly cried when I didn't have my computer for a week. I waste my whole time on the pc. For example 90% of my march break was on my computer. I hate this to cause it makes my marks go low since I don't do homework due to the addiction. One positive thing though is I have a good knowledge of computers.

Sean 19-03-2005 02:16 PM

No,put them all in a classroom and let us teach them the way of the computer geek!

DeathDude 19-03-2005 03:04 PM

At times I can be, I like going onto the computer whenever I can to play games or surf the net, it can be hard to do homework on my computer knowing that there is so many games I wish I was playing. :w00t:

FlightorFight 19-03-2005 04:36 PM

it's unanimous

troop18546 19-03-2005 04:37 PM

And obvious too... :D

Yobor 19-03-2005 04:41 PM

Computers are my sole purpose in life. Without them, I would whiter away and die of boredom.

32 Hours Straight baby!(Thats my record)

troop18546 19-03-2005 04:47 PM

Woah...32hrs... youre really addicted...

DeathDude 19-03-2005 04:59 PM

Holy 32 hrs, I don't know if I could even go that long..

taikara 19-03-2005 05:07 PM

I think my record is about 3-4 days (72-96 hours) without sleeping, and eating nothing but crackers and soda (or whatever I could find without having to spend more than 10 minutes away from the comp).

This is why I don't play games often anymore... :(

troop18546 19-03-2005 05:10 PM

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh s*it!
How did you manage that long?
Hail the addiction queen :kosta: .

taikara 19-03-2005 05:15 PM

When I start to play, I just forget everything around me.

I started playing games when I was about 6 or so (Comm64), moved to PC when I was 9 with Sierra's KQ series, and when I was old enough that mommy wouldn't scold me for not being in bed, I just stopped going to bed (it always annoyed me, because what I would actually do was lie in bed, not sleeping, thinking about what I could be doing in the game).

Such an addict. :(

Now, I generally only play games when I have someone around to tell me to stop playing. But, when I do play, it will generally be with as little sleep possible. I generally try to beat most new games in less than 3 days.

Edit: Games like Morrowind and FF (and any MMORPG) are my enemy. I love them so much, though.

Fawfulhasfury 19-03-2005 05:21 PM

WEll, though I will never beat tai. I must say I have been on an entire day once. Games are horrible when it comes to addiction, but abandonia holds the cake for me. That and discworld books. You'd think with all this time my game would be done by now. LOL

The Levitating Nun 19-03-2005 05:21 PM

I can't live without the computer but my marks aren't suffering much due to computer revision power. I could never game that long solid just because my parents would shout at me to stop and get some rest. After the GCSEs I'll try a few days non stop...

Ahh, well, I'm older, so it was still a "new" thing then :bleh: :D

Tulac 19-03-2005 05:56 PM

I don't think I'm a computer addict, I spend at most 3h @ PC and I get bored, except and surfing on Abandonia takes up most of my PC usage time, and probably I would spend even more time here if I wouldn't be restricted by my internet connection...

Sean 19-03-2005 06:56 PM

Who was the other guy that voted no?

I just finished giving tulac a backstreet beating but i cant find the other non computer addict....

Whoever said computer games makes people violent wasnt wrong!

Yobor 19-03-2005 07:10 PM

My brother is an addict too. On Morrowind, he spent 550 hours playing.

i dont switch my computer off.
but i mostly watch movies, read books, watch tv
i just do livejournal, emails and abandonia forums

i used to be a serious online gaming junkie.. and it was seriously taking a LOT of my time, and ENERGY.. i didnt have the mental energy left for concentrating on anything when i wasnt playing the damn games.

the cheaters and lamers were making me have a constant state of anger.

not healthy!

so now i dont play online games.

Danny252 19-03-2005 08:28 PM

I liiive on the pc. I mean, the most social thing me and my dad do is something to do with pc's.. I got a new Power Supply today! woot! no more games with constant noisy fan sounds! now it just goes phutphutphutphutphutphut

Schabernakel-anbeter 19-03-2005 08:33 PM

The only way that I could go cold-turkey from my addiction would be to kill me.

Tulac 19-03-2005 08:48 PM

Everyone gets fed up with computers, at least for one part of his/her lifetime...
And male members are a majority here(as most of forums in the world), so that's why some members automatically think of you as a boy...

Danny252 19-03-2005 08:51 PM

A Question: Do girls usually have female characters in pc games and do boys make male characters, or do you people have no preference?

Schabernakel-anbeter 19-03-2005 09:06 PM

normally i choose male charakters cause there are no female :Tom:

But at the moment i play cid meyers alpha centauri with the sparta women
cause they have the best abilitis for conquering :D

and the group is called (if you know that game) my servants or buttler of me LOL

so i still can identify myself :w00t:

Bye :bye: Bye

Usually male, but quite often female for me - maybe it's a further symptom of the way my feminine side is slowly but surely taking over...

DeathDude 19-03-2005 11:41 PM

I usually more often than not make male characters but there at times I use female characters, certain genres it varies like fighting games or RPG's or even FPS's, so if a character plays well for me, be it male or female I'll use them.

Sean 20-03-2005 12:35 AM

Male characters usually!

However KOTOR/KOTORII

Male for completion one as Darkside
Female for completion two as Lightside

Nyerguds 20-03-2005 09:28 AM

Hmm... I voted Yes, but actually, now I think about it... I can just leave my PC alone for a few months (like, when I go away in the summer vacation) without even giving it a second thought.

When I'm at home, I'm behind my PC 90% of the time though...

I guess it's better to be addicted to gaming than to crack... :ok:

Sean 20-03-2005 12:43 PM

Whats the difference between the two though?

Kon-Tiki 20-03-2005 01:44 PM

Games don't usually lead to the decay of your body. Well, maybe if you are Korean and play 24/7 without sleep and food...

DeathDude 20-03-2005 05:38 PM

There can be the really kind of craziness addicts the ones who play a lot of game like EverQuest (Or Evercrack as I call it sometimes) or any of the other MMO games, who just spend hours and hours on them.

taikara 20-03-2005 06:40 PM

@DeathDude: I don't know who you're talking about... :whistle:

And I play as a female. Always. (unless it's not possible, which normally not the case in MMORPGS)

DeathDude 20-03-2005 06:45 PM

I wasn't referring to a direct person just a general comment I've seen with some gamers,

troop18546 20-03-2005 06:48 PM

I play as male whenever possible. Me playing a woman would be just plain f**king weird wouldnt it? :D

taikara 20-03-2005 06:50 PM

@DeathDude: It's okay, it wouldn't be funny if it weren't true. Unfortunately, it's true for me, teehee. Which, once again, is why I don't go near it with a 20 foot battering ram now. :D

DeathDude 20-03-2005 06:56 PM

Ah I see now, yeah I admit there are times when I play my games crazy on end, just get me playing Unreal Tournament Online and I'll be so into the game for a bunch of hours and be like man did I really play 3 hours.

Jim6 20-03-2005 07:53 PM

I've played a female character sometimes when it'll make a difference in a game.

For instance, I've played through Fallout 2 tons, and trying it as a woman changes loads of stuff (with regards to "persuade" and so on, but let's not go into that)

Sean 20-03-2005 07:56 PM

Girl's can be addicts too, like me :D

EDIT: No longer valid.

taikara 21-03-2005 12:10 AM

I've been mistaken for a guy quite a few times here, too. :(

Iron_Scarecrow 21-03-2005 07:07 AM

Not as weird as you wearing female underwear in RL. I think some people take their in-game avatar too serious, whether it's a big muscular guy or a woman, you ARE NOT that avatar. ;)

N17R0 21-03-2005 12:25 PM

I only prefer to play a female character in MMOs a lot of times because I find it weird having to stare at a guy's wiggling-while-walking behind 20 hours a week. I do have a few male characters I play as well though.

Dude the whole point was that I am a boy. Now.

Computer addiction can never be truly dropped, it can only be temporarily subdued.

Yobor 21-03-2005 05:49 PM

Did you read the stuff in the profile :D

The picture sure didn't look like a boy, or is it just me?

Anyway, :ot: so Gaming addicts.
If someone was to count the percentage of my life spent in front of a computer screen I would guess 1/8 of my life :-)

Tulac 21-03-2005 06:45 PM

You can only change your sex so fast on the internet...

I think that Computer addiction isn't such a problem, it's just the way of ant-social people having fun, if you have time for your social life then you're not really an addict, right?

Danny252 21-03-2005 07:14 PM

why does noone explain what a social life is to me? I know I dont have one as everyone tells me so, but what is it?

Yobor 21-03-2005 07:19 PM

It is when you actually talk to chiks

Tulac 21-03-2005 07:22 PM

Umm it's going out and being with actual friends in Real Life™, not that you have to e mr. popularity to have a social life, but a few friends outside the webspace with which you spend a lot of time...
Not to forget having girlfriends/boyfriends...

DeathDude 21-03-2005 07:23 PM

Very true, having a bunch of trusting friends, and a girlfriend/boyfriend constitutes to this.

Yobor 21-03-2005 07:26 PM

Right! And no, Internet chat buddies does not count as a social life.

Danny252 21-03-2005 07:53 PM

oh then I dont have one ^^
I mean, msn is my life..

Yobor 21-03-2005 07:56 PM

That is what I figured when I wrote it, Danny. :bleh:

TheVoid 21-03-2005 08:37 PM

I guess I'm not a computer addict...There're days in which I'd rather spend the whole day out, and those rainy and grey days when I'd enjoy passing the whole afternoon in front of it....it depends on my mood and on the context. But I don't suffer if I've got to stay without it for days/weeks, except maybe because of the cool people online - they're the main reason for me to use this old rusty grey box. :sneaky:

Danny252 21-03-2005 09:06 PM

-sigh- it is plainly obvious that pc's are my life force.

Morbid_Pathologist 21-03-2005 09:27 PM

id say i am a computer addict, let me think, at school i use it for about 3 hours, 2 of them playing games, the other 1 downloading stuff and pretending to make my website for I.T.

then when i get home i sit there from 4-6 playing games (mainly N - The Way of The Ninja) then from 7-12 i bludge again, watch tv till 1am (sometimes till 2) then play for another 2 hours....no...im not sleep depreived....at all.

lethe 22-03-2005 04:51 AM

I can stay away from computers for long without feeling like I'm missing something, so I'd say I'm not addicted...

BUT...
If I have nothing else to do (which is rare), I can (and will) spend a whole day in front of the computer and get totally isolated from everything else.

Yobor 22-03-2005 01:12 PM

One thing that I have noticed, is that if I play a certain game long enough, I am able to smell it. A few days later I will open the box and *whoosh* I can smell the game. When I got downstairs all I have to do is smell to know what game has been played. Maybe I am just special, or a freak LOL

Jim6 22-03-2005 03:48 PM

Well, over the summer, I played Doom3 all day, and went out that night. After a few, my friend's phone went off - it was set to evil laughter! I almost jumped under the table...

Game-dreams are my favourites though - although when they happen, you know you've gone too far...

Yobor 22-03-2005 05:08 PM

Once I had a dream I could do bullet time like in Max Payne. *sigh* I love that game.

All teachers are MF+. :ranting:
Wow,

I disagree. One of my good friends is a math teacher and when he is not spending his (free)time building lesson plans to help students learn more effectivly he is downloading games and playing the crap outta them (yes he is a game addict).

On another note you guys are making my want to write my psychology essay on computer addiction.

Caged 22-03-2005 05:19 PM

I confess....I am a computer addict.

I use them at least 6 hrs every day of the week. My computer runs from 6 to 9 hours a day. i cannot help it. They provide a much needed source of rest and relaxation after 6 hrs of tortuous school work. I like them so much that I now wish to do nothing else in life except work on them either my repair, contruction, or use!

DeathDude 22-03-2005 05:28 PM

It's always good for me to come off after a long day at college and relax on the comp either by surfing the net, playing games, or listening to music, or watching some flash videos.

Lizard 22-03-2005 05:39 PM

I am something between computer addiction and "real" life. When i have free time I can sit behind computers for hours and hours, but when I dont have it(which happens quite regulary) I dont even think about it....
