Weekly Poll: Which of these stories would make a good point and click adventure!

This weeks poll is from Tracker, but we have room for four more options. So get in quick to suggest what they should be and don't vote till you have your pick up there so you don't waste your vote. Or vote on the I will tell you in my post and tell me so I can remove it and add it to your idea!

My vote goes towards Star Wars, I think it could have made a wonderful point and click adventure game. Right along with the Indiana Jones series. Imagine having the option to use the Force to help you solve puzzles and the like, it could have been a LucasGames masterpiece.

This would be the one time I wish they would do a Star Wars game since I am not a fan of the path they took, shutting out their other gaming ideas for pumping out more and more Star Wars games.

Guess who I voted for...

:D

I suggest these famous stories to add to the poll.
  1. Dracula
  2. Frankenstein's Monster
  3. Curse Of The Werewolf
  4. The Hobbit
:OK:

An adventure game in the Star War universe would be awesome.

RRS 04-03-2012 05:30 PM

I could never comprehend why LucasArts, once famous from its adventure games, won't make a Star Wars adventure, being the sole company owning the license. Perfect case of "a dog in the manger".

Of all the above I too must say a SW point'n'click would've been awesome but there is another candidate I need to vote for: If they came up with a Clive Barker horror story I'd be pointing and clicking like I was possessed.

Some old post-apocalyptic stories and novels, like Mary Shelley's Last Man, Matheson's I Am Legend or Anderson's No Truce With Kings or perhaps even The War of the Worlds. As for newer Apocalyptic stories, perhaps McCarthy's Road...

Out of the choices, Harry Potter would probably be the most suitable.

Although The Lord of the Rings is my favourite setting from all those above, I don't think it would make a good P&C adventure. So I voted for Star Wars.

mjdvgamerking 05-03-2012 12:22 PM

Among these surely Star Wars :vader::lightsaber: :2thumbs:

Stephen Kings Dark Tower setting would fit very good in a point and klick adventure, I think. I'd love to play one.

Star Wars.

But the choice wasn't that easy - I'd like to see all the listed as P&C games. The Cliver Barker/Horror option was a nice addition. But we have a lot of horror games, like Alone in the Dark 1&2, Dark Mirror, Dark Seed 1&2 and so on.
Anyway, there have been some Narnia arcade games lately in the Harry Potter videogames vein, but they are cheap products to be bundled along with the movies. Nothing important to speak of. But the novels have the potential. And Lord of the Rings? There has been a game called The Hobbit in the 8-bit era that was popular, it could have had a remake.
Harry Potter is such a case, it had several games but only because of the movies. "Fantasy" has a lot of potential, especially this story, it had a lot of puzzles in the novels by default, there could have been many spin-offs and such. And the Dark Tower? Well, I could only read a few pages from them in a bookstore, since I didn't have cash to buy them, but the story totally caught my attention - wild western post-apocalyptic fantasy, what else is there to say?!

I would say Harry Potter, maybe because I'm imagining it similar to Simon the Sorcerer.
The London setting mixed with magic places like Hogwarts castle suit perfectly a puzzle/point & click adventure where you have to explore rooms, find secrets, prepare recipies and so on.

Star Wars would be interesting but it's more a setting for action games IMHO.

Main problem for me with all worlds above is too hero-oriented world. You know everything about Middle Earth, Harry Potter or Dracula. So it will be either recreation of novel with artificially placed puzzles, or "fanfic" that I never fond of.

Well, obviously, two worlds are not so inclined to familiar heroes - Star Wars and Dark Tower. First is very detailed, so you can make any plot in it, and second have holes - well, whole canyons! - about everything, including main plot, and is multiverse actually that makes it even more open. :) I voted for Dark Tower, as I seen many adventures in SW world, but nothing for King.

Dark Tower (Stephen King)
