Translation Into Bulgarian And French

Yes, it is true.

Abandonia will in the future be understandable for French people as well as Bulgarians. One man (yamcha565656) has started the voyage, but he needs your help.

So please, help him.
(Or this smiley :Titan: will come to your door).

Yavor 07-12-2004 08:57 AM

Hey,I`m Bulgarian.I didn`t know you had such respect to Bulgaria. Thanks a lot. :ok: If you want I can help for the translation.
I want to ask /if you know of course/ how much bulgarians vist your site?

Kosta 07-12-2004 08:59 AM

You could check in our stats, they are publicly available in the bottom right corner of the page

Tom Henrik 07-12-2004 09:42 AM

But since the NedStat can be difficult to understand...

Here you are :ok:

Yavor 07-12-2004 10:26 AM

ooo yeah....I understand. Thanks a lot. It`s not surprisingly that the Bulgarian visitors are under 1 %.Everybody plays Counter-Strike and Worcraft 3. Do you think that it`s needed bulgarian language in the site. But don`t get me wrong.I`m happy and proud  that you want to do that, but does it necessary? If so,I still want to help if you need and want may help. :ok:

Stroggy 07-12-2004 11:30 AM

I agree with french, but why translate an entire site for 0.1%?
I mean there are 0.5% from israel but you don't see me demanding for a hebrew translation (stay calm, anubis)

Aren't we taking on more than we can handle? Its abandonia... not wikipedia

Sebatianos 07-12-2004 12:52 PM

But Stroggy - no one ever said you mustn't translate it.
No one ever said a translation into Slovene must be done (and as far as I know there are only 3 regular visitors - Me, Rainwife and Gregor - he's not around much). But I'm still translating it. Not because I have to, but because I want to. A translation into a language can only draw more people - not scare them away...

Yavor 07-12-2004 01:08 PM

Tom Henrik,is there something I can do about the Bulgarian language in the site?
Asked this before but I`m not sure I got any answer.I hope I not bother.Just want to help. :bye:

I translated the main page script now we can start translating some reviews I got 8 already.

Dont forget about Diablo Doom and other new gamesthat make me sick

Havell 07-12-2004 03:30 PM

Well if only a very small number of Bulgarians go onto this site then surely we should be working extra hard to produce a Bulgarian version of Abandonia so that number will increase.

@Yavor The main work of translating the site is translating the reviews, if you could organised with Yamcha who will be translating which reviews than that would make things easier for both of you (so you don't waste time both translating the same review).

Omuletzu 07-12-2004 04:02 PM

Hey Romania is on the 28th place!! :w00t:
To make this on-topic i should add that translating the site into bulgarian is a good idea, in the sense that it would attract more bulgarians. It is although a lot of work...

Yavor 07-12-2004 04:09 PM

Ok.Yamcha, just tell me which section you are translating now.And which to start with.I`m not caviller.Action,Adventure,Simulation - just point me.

Yavor 07-12-2004 04:19 PM

yamcha.I`ll handle with Doom and Diablo for the moment.Waiting for instructions. :ok:

Yamcha 07-12-2004 04:45 PM

Hmm Im translating all the section.Actually the games that seem important to me. I'm done with Civ2, California games 2,Stunts, Abuse, Caesar 2, the even more incr machine, Conquest of the longbow,

HINT:the first games have smaller reviews  :tomato:

Yavor 07-12-2004 05:06 PM

Yamcha,I`m ready with Doom.I`ll take the bigger reviews. :max: But if you agree it would be easy if you start one or two sections and I start another. :bye: Or if if you aren`t agree please write which reviews you`ve done.

Yamcha 07-12-2004 08:18 PM

Look Up UP UP :D I noted that already. However I got some exams now ad I'm ot sure that I would be able to make much reviews anyway Ill try

About Doom and Diablo LOL I just soid some other games that are massifly played in BG LOL

Yavor 09-12-2004 03:43 PM

Hey yamcha, what are you translating,if translate something.Cause I started the Action section and everything till Blood is ready and I`m going forward. :ok:

Yavor 10-12-2004 03:05 PM

Eagle of Fire 10-12-2004 03:43 PM

I speak french in my school everyday etc. but my dictionnarry isnt a good one its only 1 year that i know FR.Maybe it wasn't a good idea to propose my self as a translator for the french version.Im sorry :tomato: and first I want to do the BG one. But I think that I can help somehow.

@Yavor
Im done with descent abuse aladdin civ 2 gold , caesar2, stunts,Tim1, california games 2 and Conquest of the longbow :D

Yavor 10-12-2004 04:02 PM

yamcha I translated the action section into BG till the Crusader 1 and that mean that I translated Abuse too,but whatever,I`m continuing at this section.Want you to know this in order to avoid any problems.

Yamcha 10-12-2004 04:05 PM

k im working like this...Im taking one game from each section and so on

Yavor 10-12-2004 04:09 PM

Ok,but this way we can translate something twice. It`s not worth it.

Yamcha 10-12-2004 04:12 PM

I will write u a pm when i make something New

Yavor 10-12-2004 04:16 PM

what do you think about croatian-serbian (hrvatskosrpski) translation?? We can just replace the old Croatian icon and a name with a new one, and thus making the site atractive to more people...

FreeFreddy 13-12-2004 02:30 PM

Why shoot you? :eeeeeh:
Sounds like good idea for me ;)

We're in the wrong thread for that (it's Bulgarian) so this is a bit :ot: , but still:

There are many people agrueing about this subject. Are Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian (some also say Montenegrian) seperate languages or are they just varieties of the same language.
It has a political background as well so as much as it could appeal to some to visit the site - it could very well offend others.
It's not a bad idea - an average Bosnian (for example) will understand croatian - but not neceseraly English... But I'm not sure. It could get messy.

bohor 13-12-2004 02:39 PM

It sounds good to me too!

but the thing is, that language doesnt exist anymore... It was used before the war, and it is nowadays widely unpopular and unwanted in both countries, Croatia and Serbia...

Yavor 15-12-2004 03:13 PM

hey Yamcha good work with the translation.I was kind of busy /and lazy :D / those days I got only 12 rewvies, but I`ll make it least 20 this evening.I`m gonna continue in the Action section.Don`t worry,I`ll make ut up

I got 34 reviews. Who many u?It will be good to open the BG sectiom on Xmas(today)Hury plz :help:

Kosta 24-12-2004 05:51 PM

One question though, if I'm not mistaken Bulgarian uses cyrillyic letters?

Tom Henrik 24-12-2004 06:00 PM

The thing is that the site doesn't support cyrrilic letters... yet!

Kosta is working on making the site compatible with that alphabet, but it is highly unlikely that it will happen today. Sorry :(

It might happen tomorrow, but things are uncertain. Just keep working, because it WILL happen soon. :ok:

Enjoy the christmas dinner in the meantime! ;)

Kosta 24-12-2004 06:04 PM

Oh, ok, I've just been informed that orthodox christmas in on 8th of January... we can make it before that :ok:

Just come up with the still needed 6 reviews before that ;)

Eagle of Fire 24-12-2004 06:11 PM

And I still offer myself to work on the French version if it ever come out. :ok:

I already got them. And what is the exact problem with the support. I mean to u need to instaal them or what? :help:

Tom Henrik 24-12-2004 07:01 PM

Every language need a code for the letters to show. Otherwise it get's mumbled up.

For instance:
When I started on the Norwegian translation, the site only supported the English alphabet. Norwegian uses three extra letters (?, ? and ?). Whenever these letters showed up in the text, the word got messy (since the letters didn't exist).

So that a sentence like this; <<P? l?ven st?nd ein jule?l>>
would show up on the site as <<P23% l23%ven st18%nd ein jule25%l>>

Basically.. no-one would understand it.

Sebatianos 24-12-2004 07:08 PM

Well there still are some problems if your using the Microsoft Word (whenever I make a - or a ' or ... it gives out strange codes).

Yamcha 24-12-2004 07:11 PM

Well in BG there are 2 wery popular word based programs - flex word and flex type. The ferst check your spell errors when you write in Bg and the other enables you to chnage the languages. There is bulgarian, bulgarian phonetic(which i use) but also u can add many others

Danny252 27-12-2004 01:02 PM

I would do french... if my useless french teacher ever taught us something USEFUL! I can't even say Abandonia in french... Abandonique!

Eagle of Fire 27-12-2004 09:37 PM

Abadonnia is a site name, so it doesn't translate.

Yamcha 28-12-2004 11:21 AM

I cant translate it to french:
1 My orthographe sux
2 I dont have a french copy of Word, which enables me to auto-correct my spelling errors.
3 My dictionnary isn't that big.

After translating some reviews in BG i saw that this isnt that easy. Sorry that I propose myself as an translator to the french abandonia but I really can't handle it.
:wall: :tomato:

FreeFreddy 28-12-2004 01:39 PM

Why don't you use online translators, like http://www.wordreference.com/ ?

Yamcha 28-12-2004 02:00 PM

Well imagine that for almost every word I must go to this site :not_ok:

I believe that it is one general bad idea to use one such, as we all together knows that online translators sucks balls.

(Above text was brought to you by wordreference.com. Need I say more?)

FreeFreddy 28-12-2004 02:22 PM

I meant to use them rather to help the translation in difficult cases, but if it's that bad that almost every word needs to be translated...

Yamcha 28-12-2004 02:24 PM

Well I never tried to translated them but lookcing at the text I cant say that that will be easy.

radiv 03-01-2005 03:56 PM

Local versions makes the site feel more comfortable and international. And it will appear in more search engines... and therefore easier to find for ppl from the countries with a translation.

Edit:

You could link to more languages with the flag / computer 50/50 in the logo indicating that the page is machine translated like this box:

Yamcha 05-02-2005 09:09 PM

xcom freak 05-02-2005 09:18 PM

I am gonna wait for tom henrik to tell me How to do it
it should be done real soon

Eagle of Fire 05-02-2005 09:31 PM

You must have a French keyboard to do that. It's in your configuration, need to install the French keyboard configuration.

Then you'll be able to use all the little funny wuzzy accents such as ?éë?ä?iÇç etc. :D

Puffin 05-02-2005 10:09 PM

[off topic]

On Icelandic keyboards, letters like á, í, ó, ú, é are ' plus a, ' plus i, etc.
'i = í ;)

[/off topic]

Tidus 06-02-2005 02:14 AM

i dont get it  :not_ok:    :wall: :wall: :Titan: :Tom:

Tom Henrik 09-02-2005 07:49 PM

If you accept, please PM me (or send me an e-mail) with the list of already translated reviews and which ones you'll do by yourself.

This thread has been inactive for a while, so it might be better if you just PM whoever is in charge of the translation, just in case he missed your post... I'm pretty sure they'll appreciate your help.

Sebatianos 14-10-2005 07:08 PM

Another translator - that's great, but I'm afraid that the people who started translating into Bulgarian aren't really active anymore. You can find out who they are if you click -->HERE<--

Fingolfin 15-10-2005 09:19 AM

I have already sent them PM, but i have no response so far.

Romano 15-10-2005 10:01 AM

It seems to me that you could not expect response at all.
Last time Yavor posted in this Forum was December 16. 2004. and Yamcha April 10. 2005.. We can be nearly shure they will not come back!
But Slovenian, Spanish and Icelandic section of Abandonia are "one man show" :guitar:

Maybe it can be the same with Bulgarian section... :ok:

A. J. Raffles 15-10-2005 11:18 AM

It's a shame that he'll probably have to start over, though. Unless the other translators were sensible enough to upload the translations they did somewhere, that is.

Abi79 19-10-2005 06:35 PM

It's a shame, but it's not hard (I mean it's not impossible). At the first those who translated into Romanian were Iedu and TurnusX, but they gave up. I started over the translating and fortunately could find a15drian to help me. The only hard thing is to transalte the AB main page and FAQ, programs... The reviews are usually easy to translate.

Nikson 20-10-2005 01:48 AM

So you and a15drian are doing the Romanian translation now! Do you want/need a third man to help out? :D

Abi79 20-10-2005 03:16 AM

Eagle of Fire 09-03-2008 04:55 PM

I always been interested in helping translating reviews to French but it never took off. Lack of communication and no idea what to do was the killer...
