Main site issues

We lost database again? I see nothing on main page, except screenshot quiz, and I cannot login here.

Burner 25-03-2014 05:07 PM

Same for me, so seems like that :headslap:

Mighty Midget 25-03-2014 05:08 PM

The Borks at work again. I had to log in NOT using the password or else I got the Unrecognized user name error.

Another thing is AB has been horribly unstable at least here, either taking a week to load or at least very close, or not loading at all.

The Fifth Horseman 25-03-2014 05:59 PM

I can't possibly comment, seeing that I have no bloody idea what happened.
Some of the administrators have received an e-mail notification of issues with the file server, but nothing that relates to the main site server....

Pex 26-03-2014 09:18 AM

I couldn't log on to the site on the main page, but when I changed to the forum, I was able to. Still, not on the login on top of the page but one for the forum itself - the top one still says I'm not logged in.

Same.

TotalAnarchy 26-03-2014 10:59 AM

Lame.

Japo 26-03-2014 10:11 PM

 Have you contacted Abovo? If so, any response?

This has been on and off for many months already.

What a train wreck...

Mighty Midget 26-03-2014 11:40 PM

Well, there are train wrecks

...

and then there are Train Wrecks.

Diamondfist 27-03-2014 12:44 AM

I can at least log on to the forums. Glad to see that it isn't just me that can't log on the site. Hope whatever is wrong isn't too complicated.

The Fifth Horseman 27-03-2014 09:08 AM

It seems there were several simultaneous technical problems.
The one we were talking about turned out to not be the one that hit the main server.
Tl;DR: the site should be operational, but the server hosting the actual downloads is down for maintenance.

Smiling Spectre 27-03-2014 09:15 AM

Well, I don't need downloads any time soon, so that's great news. Thank you! :)

Japo 27-03-2014 03:17 PM

Do they know anything about the slow loading times? It's been happening at least to me forever, and it makes using the website really bothersome.

I mentioned it to Rafiq when I talked with him about the spam, and he said that would look into it after fixing that, but even that was never really fixed and I didn't hear back.

BostonGeorge 27-03-2014 04:14 PM

Maybe we should write a really lovely letter to these guys .... ;)

Thank you to all those working on the problem, I appreciate the trouble you are going to in fixing it!

BentleyVA 27-03-2014 11:50 PM

Thanks to all who are working to bring the site back up.

For me it's always extra features. Facebook and Twitter. Opera can hangs a whole minute asking for "request to twitter.com..." I would gladly block both - but I cannot do it in Opera. I bet, users with more advanced browsers, like chrome and firefox, haven't this issues. :)

It's not that, it's AB's server that has huge delays to respond. This happens also on the /vbullet/ standalone forum pages which have no extra content. I have all this content and ads blocked for the rest of AB but the problem still happens, because it's in AB itself. Twitter and Facebook themselves, and any other website full of their content, work OK for me and anyone else.

The old versions of Opera could block content. The new versions are a Chrome ripoff and you can install any Chrome extension on it. You can find for example Adblock on Opera's web store.

PS: Piece of crap website ate my post again and I had to retype it, ¬¬ second time today.

Smiling Spectre 30-03-2014 09:41 AM

Hmm, it's the different problem for you then. Abandonia itself have issues sometimes for me, but 90% of my problems are from FB and Twitter (where is Twitter on main page, BTW?). I forced to wait it to load, because screenshot quiz doesn't work right until whole page loaded.
I have old (12.16) Opera here, and while it can block different ads and pictures inside FB band, FB itself is not blockable. Or I don't know how.

Japo 30-03-2014 12:23 PM

Besides blocking by clicking on the webpage, you can click on the "Details..." button (also accessible from Preferences > Blocked Content" where you can edit or create block rules manually, using the wildcard character *

http://www.lancelhoff.com/wp-content...ra-adsense.png

For example in your case you could define "twitter.com/*" etc.

Smiling Spectre 02-04-2014 09:54 PM

Hmm... I could swear that I tried this. Or maybe it was in previous, more buggy version of Opera?.. Anyway, it worked perfectly now. Thank you! :)

...Also, trying all of this, I noticed issue with "select language" icon. I seen it quite long ago, but definitely not all way back. Maybe, month or so. Icon is lower than it must be (it's overwritten by language selector itself), and text that must be inside bubble is somewhere 100 pixels at right. At least, in Opera and Chrome.

Of all the things wrong with the website, this is number one for you? :bleh1:

Smiling Spectre 03-04-2014 06:58 PM

Umm... Well, I am reporting every one that I see. It usually not fixed anyway, but can I try at least?! ;)

twillight 16-04-2014 05:50 PM

1) There is no log out button for the forum (can be problem in multiply user issue).

2) The "login" to the site above the menu has any function?

Amayirot Akago 17-04-2014 07:14 AM

Can't seem to change my forum password. My old one stays saved no matter what.

This is by design (for good or bad, guess which)

This is by design. Settings you input on the site override forum settings, including the password.

Mighty Midget 28-04-2014 05:22 AM

What's the status on this heartbleed thing? Any fixes yet or were we not affected after all?

dosraider 28-04-2014 07:16 AM

FF addon Heartbleed_ext says AB is ok.
http://thumbnails111.imagebam.com/32...8323331959.jpg
:OK:

Japo 30-04-2014 09:23 PM

Rafiq said that it isn't necessary to change the passwords, but I don't know if there was a vulnerability and it was fixed (in which case you may want to change your password), or if we were never affected.

Smiling Spectre 25-06-2014 12:23 PM

Just in case it's missing issue: I lost my main site autorization again. *sigh*. "Unrecognisable user or password".

Same here

Pex 26-06-2014 11:29 AM

Must be a general issue. It's interesting that logging in on the forum still works.

Smiling Spectre 26-06-2014 05:39 PM

Different engines, different bases.

It's always that way. "Independent" way, I mean.

Oh, news disappeared from main site too. Funny.

Diamondfist 27-06-2014 01:17 AM

Same problem. Also, thanks to Pex for mentioning logging on to the forum working. I forget that the function is there & separate from the site itself.

Its not just news, there are no game archives, reviews anything.

Edit: Don't panic those few who are still around its back.

Japo 27-06-2014 12:57 PM

It should be fixed, if you still see any problems try reloading your browser.

Diamondfist 28-06-2014 02:09 AM

I was able to log in today. Thank you to all who fixed the problem on the site!

:D :hello: :3:

chris_doom_k. 30-06-2014 08:13 AM

I had a notification from avast that the site was compromised recently and i should stay away, i decided to enter though. Is everything allright in terms of users safety and abandonia itself?

Smiling Spectre 30-06-2014 11:49 AM

Fixed, really. Thank you!

Japo 30-06-2014 01:45 PM

Google was giving the same warning. I only have this response from our webmaster:
Quote:

We fixed the issue and applied for clearance from Google.
And Google is now no longer barring us.

piroklasztit 01-07-2014 01:19 AM

Yesterday I got a Firefox alert on Abandonia, that it contains risks. I did not enter. Today it works, but now it doesn't accept the quiz answer.

Smiling Spectre 01-07-2014 05:40 AM

I just got answer right. Maybe you was not logined?

Japo 01-07-2014 06:45 PM

When this kind of errors appear it's a good idea to refresh your browser afterwards :-(

chris_doom_k. 01-07-2014 11:00 PM

Thanks for the replies, all seem to be good indeed.

Amayirot Akago 06-07-2014 07:46 AM

Front page won't let me log in again...

Diamondfist 07-07-2014 02:00 AM

Same here. I get a "signed in" confirmation with my profile stats, but I am still listed as not logged in (am able to log in to the forums). Thanks to those working on the problem!
