I have been playing the KQ series ever since they started coming out...in fact probably the first Sierra game I played was Gold Rush followed by KQ I. In fact I still play I to VI ( my KQ VII doesn't work for some odd reason). I used to have the floppy version of KQ V, now I play the CD one (RWANTH).
I don't have any saving problem (I too get the same message, "no space" but that's only when you start)...just "change directory" to the one on your PC...B,C,D or E - even A the floppy drive will work! Other than that I can't think of any solution. My favourite Sierra games are the Quest for Glory series. :D Happy Questing. |
I know this is probably a bit assinine, but is there any way you could post both the talkie version and the text based version? I just think all the voice dubbing is really annoying.
By the way, I found the solution to the problem "Law" is having with the game freezing at the Sierra screen. You are not running the game in DOSBOX. DOSBOX is an emulator that you must download from the "Programs" portion of this site in order to play these games well. Download DOSBOX and everything should run just fine. |

Problem with music too loud interfering speech? Just scroll down the volume bar in options. U could also apply newer Sierra SB16 driver patch n see how it works out. Oh I forgot the link. Maybe u could google it. |
Agreed, you need to change your resolution to 256 colours, else it won't work :ok:

:ok:
I found the same thing about changing the settings for colors. did the trick. great great game. :bye: :bye: |

I have no idea why, but I have the exact same problem as the poster on the top of this page with saving games. I have never had a problem saving games with any of the other games on this site, so I'm a bit confused. I am using dosbox 0.63 ... any suggestions? |
:D
Sorry I can't help, i was just playing KQ last night and I have an older system, Win 98 which seems quite happy with KQ, and was able to save ......maybe the pros in the tech section can help. good luck, the KQ games are great :ok: :ok: |
Except for changing the resolution I don't have any problem with the CD version.
I too use Win98...and play KQ 5 on Windows. I doubt if talkie and message will work at the same time. In any case the Windows version doesn't have this option. It's availablein the floppy version, but only one at a time if you first exe the audcom. The other's I play on MS-DOS. As Christian IV say the Tech. people may be able to help! :bye: Happy Questing! |

*Install KQ7 without testing ur system configuration. *Go to ur installation directory and rename SIERRAW.EXE to whatever. Rename SIERRAWS.EXE to SIERRAW.EXE. *Change ur display mode to 640x480 256 colors. *Run the KQ7 shortcut. |
Hi all,
I'm new to old games again, and I'm having an issue with KQ V. I was finally able to get it working after reading the posts here, but my problem is every time I minimize the game to look at a UHS hint file or if my screensaver kicks in my picture gets all distorted and the only way to fix it is by closing the game and starting it over (restoring to last saved game):help: This is a pain because unfortunatly my 3 kids don't give me much free time and I'm constatntly stepping away from the computer. I have my screen saver off, but this doesn't help for when I want to look at another window to try and get some help. Has anyone dealt with this? I would love some ideas on how to fix it. I am running the game on XP at 256 color and 640x480 resolution with VDMS, other than that I'm not sure what info would help. Thanks in advance, I can't wait to get to play this game. |
