Sorry I forgot to mention that.

Yeah, it's the disk-based version, which is the version I prefer. I think I already have a good copy of the talkie version somewhere, though. If this is indeed a known problem, has anyone found a way around it, or am I out of luck?

Thanks for your help!

I downloaded and installed the game under DOSBox. The voices work, but the voice acting is too painful to endure. According to some reviews, it is possible to turn the voices off and the text mode on. Does anyone know how?

Yeah, that was my opinion of it as well. I've poked and prodded the voice version (so to speak), but as far as I know that version has no text dialouge at all (at least my copy dosen't)! :wall: That's why I've been hunting for a new copy of the floppy version.

If anyone's interested, I did manage to find (and sucessfuly test! :ok: ) a working text-only version after scouring the web for several days. It was on a site called "French Kiss," I believe.

Hey, I have this game on CD and have downloaded it off this site (they both seem pretty similar, except for the .exe's icon), but I can't play either version on my computer.

When I try to run it in DosBox, it tells me 'this game requires Microsoft Windows'. I can't figure out what I've done wrong, seening everybody else seems to be playing the exact same thing on DosBox. Any reasons for this?

If I try to play the game in Windows 2000, it gives me an error titled 'vga.drv', and tells me that my current display driver cannot run the game, and that I can sort it out in control panel - although there's so many things in the control panel I don't think I'll ever find it.

I have memories from about 10 years ago playing this game. I think I did finish it in the end (I have memories of a tiger in a castle, and something to do with a baddy changing to different things, and me trying to use my wand. Another memory is hiding behind a rock outside a temple sort of place while two dudes on horses ride by), but I really miss it, and want to have a few last plays of it.

Any help would be awesome.

I'm having a couple problems. When running this game in DosBox, I am not able to save my games. When I go to save it automatically tries to save to an R:\ or Z:\ drive. which aren't on my computer, and it says there isn't enough space or memory. When I try to change it to C:\KQ5 to save, it says the drive or folder doesnt exist. I also tried to run this game in VDMS sound, but the sound doesn't work! If anyone has any insight I'd be very grateful.

Oh past sierra games have worked in vdms sound for me.

I'm having trouble getting KQ5 to boot up. I'm able to play KQ6 and Quest for GLory games in this site, but when I try loading up KQ5 it boots up to the Sierra Icon and then just freezes. I usually just extract the file and click on install.exe, change the audio and save and exit out. Then, I click on SIERRA.exe Its worked with all the other games I've downloaded except KQ5. Can any one give me pointers on how to install it in Dosbox. Sorry for the newbie questions, I remember playing this when I was pretty young and my bro did all the installing in dos and stuff. THnx again

This is a great game, along with KQ 4, the earlier ones are a little
too archaic for me, though the game play is still good. The
graphics in this one are excellent as are the sound. Sorry I can't help
re the openning of the game, I have an older system and it seems
to like the KQ games just fine. good luck
:bye:

Can anyone help me?? I'm having problems running this game.. I'm using Dosbox, as I have successfuly with all other games, but get an invalid command whenever I try to run either the command SCIKQ5 or KQ5.. I tried SIERRA, but that just runs my KQ4...
I know its probably just something simple I'm doing wrong, as Ive had no problems with any other game I downloaded from this site.
Any help would be appreciated, but please note... I fall into the category of " not very pc literate" so dumbing down is a good idea :D
thankingyou.
Also, I just get a blank page whenever I try to download the codes

Please work!! 25-04-2005 04:17 AM
