Yeah. I'm embarrassed. Don't let my machismo intimidate you. :headslap: Really! ;) Thank you for the encouraging assistance. I'll give it a try soon. |
I got a solution for the "slow game problem":
just press Ctrl+F12 to increase cpu cycles untill it's no less than 30500 and it should do the trick |
Anyone got rating above 'novice' ?
I've been playing through the long campaign a couple of times, and the skills don't seem to improve, and rating never goes above 'novice'. Anyone have a different experience ? I think my best campaign was close to 50k+ so I should get to ;veteran' at least I think.
I'm running through dosbox, and I've tried 2 different downloads (disk and cd version). I can't remember if this used to work back in the day, it's been so long since I've played it. A couple of tips: When calling in support it seems to help to have a target, to avoid getting killed by your own support fire. If you loose your target, stop the fire mission. Also, always crawl when enemies are targettable to avoid being seen. |
Got to 'veteran' status
It is actually possible to get 'veteran' status. I got it after the second to last mission. The actual skills don't seem to improve though. The manual doesn't say what influences the skill rating. It might be just score dependent.
A couple more tips not in the manual: - You can add/remove ammo on the outfitting screen by pressing + and -. Useful for explosives which you only need 2 of, but you get 3. It says (2) but you actually have 3, so reducing it to (1) gives you 2 explosives. - You can use the prisoner handling kit yourself when you're closer than 10 m, instead of doing a 'search'. - It's a good idea to make sure the boat doesn't end up near the target area when doing a snatch mission. |
