I read about the new consoles (PS3, XBOX2) and the kind of hardware they are getting. It is not better then a mid to high range PC has now and that's before the consoles are even launched. The nicest things in there are the new generation DVD drives (blue ray, HD-DVD). To each his own of course but I will never own a console myself. |

Don't know the specs, but to have nice frames per sec ratio it needs a speeeedy computer... See the point? :max:  |

Can you compare mid range PC's specs to the XBox, and then compare same game on both systems, you'll see that game works better on XBox, because it was much easier for programmer to concentrate on one system, not thinking abount if gamer will have NVidia or ATI video card. At the time, PS had much lower specs of any computer but it had much nicer graphics and playability! (custom chip sets) So, I would like to say that you can not compare these two things like that... |
To be honest I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to building my own computers.
I try to get parts from all over and stick them together to get a new system going. Just a few months ago I upgraded from a P4 1.6GHz to a P4 3.0 complete with new motherboard, DVD-burner etc. in the original 1.6 tower. ...only to spend more time adding stuff from the old 1.6 in a new tower, than I actually spent using the 3.0 one... Can't get that feeling with a console, though I actually own a PS1. Well, we all have our weak spots, I guess :D |
Consoles do not run faster then PC because they have better chips it's because they run the games on a lower resolution and use smaller textures. A console only needs to show it's stuff on a TV and those are far worse then a PC monitor. If you want clear graphics you'll want a PC.
Sure a console is cheaper but part of that is because they give the hardware away. The games are a lot more expensive generally though and you get a lot more functionality from a PC then a console. |
We all can have our opinions. ;)
I love 'em both. Using PC for strategy game and my console for RPG like FF and also fighting games like tekken4. Also most of the games I am interested in are for PS2 (GTA, FFX, Tekken4, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider...) so that's the only reason that I don't have GC or XBox, but looking at getting those later (one of these combo packs) just to play metroid and couple other games. All new releases for PS2 are bellow $50, while Doom3 sells for $55  So price of computer games is not that better... (in my opinion, both are a bit overpriced) |
